Glastonbury Thread 2023

Foo fuckin fighters 🙄. Sorry, it’s just me wondering why.
Used to like them until Grohl opened his big mouth during covid and helped to stoke division and hate by banning unvaxxed from his shows. What a cnut. Wouldn't walk across the street to see them now if I was given a free ticket and they were performing down the bottom of my street.

First time I've seen them ( I know I'm out of touch but I'm a bit old and past it). They are my new favouritest band. Who knew lead guitarists are now unnecessary.
He plays a bass guitar, which makes it even stranger - no guitarists at all. He uses loads of effects and such and plays it in a way that it does the job of both the bass and the guitar sometimes.

It's what made them interesting when they first came about, they have a unique sound.

I’m
Never been!
Looks amazing, but at 62 think perhaps it’s “the one that got away” for me.
I’ve watched thousands of highlights over the years but The Libertines in 2015 takes some beating.
My Daughter-In-Law was lucky enough to be there to see that set live.
My partners Son & Fiancée are there, they will no doubt be disappointed if the Artics are cancelled, I don’t know how but, never seen the Manics I bet the were/are good at Glastonbury.
Elton John does nothing for me since he sold us short of his Blackpool Gig in 2012, and didn’t return.
I’m currently in Arroyo De La Meil for the Saint Juan Festival but that’s fireworks and carnivals over music🤣🤣
Looking forward to the Manchester Tribute Bands at Blackpool Cricket Club on the Saturday of August Bank Holiday Weekend.
Anyone else up for that I know it’s 99% SOLD OUT.
I’ll have my Tangerine TV subscription from Lincoln on my 4G🤣
Have a great weekend everyone wherever you are as the football season gets nearer😀
🚌#87🧡🍺
I’m at the Manc Tribute do at BCC Ash with the Duchess, I’ll get you a beer in pal 👍

Been jumping around on iplayer rather than jumping round in front of the stages.

Watched the Foos set (not their best by a long stretch) - Grohl only found his voice for the last couple of songs. Drummer was great. I've seen them live a few times over the years and they are usually incredible but seemed a little tired and off it a bit.

Royal Blood were ace, the sort of set makes me wish I was 25 years younger and in that crowd. I think the addition of the keyboard is great live for them but still amazes me how they generate the doubt they do with drums and a bass.

Pale Waves I caught a bit of their set and enjoyed what I saw. New for me so I'll be checking out more of them.

My highlight, so far though, and by a stretch has to be Sparks. Making their Glastonbury debut at this late stage of a career, and bloody superb they were! Great show, and both instrumentally and vocally absolutely nail on. Going to take something immense to better their set for me. Definitely give it a watch on catch up if you missed it.

Defo not a headliner band. Not good enough or big enough imo
Biggest band out of the UK since Oasis and have yet to be surpassed on that. This is their third Glastonbury headline slot.Their 2nd is up there as one of the best/most iconic Glastonbury headline performances IMO.

He's gone down a bizarre route of slowing down all the old songs to match the vibe of the new stuff and also changes the way he sang on the record so it's near impossible to sing along. I saw them live on this tour and thought those were terrible decisions and it's similar to what is being said about the performance tonight. They're probably not translating very well tonight, but the idea they're not good or big enough for Glastonbury isn't true.

I wondered if I'd spectacularly missed something with the Arctic Monkeys but no they are as shit as the last time I tried to listen to them many years ago. Put it this way not for me.

Their 2nd Glasto was unreal 👍

Agree with all of that. But ignoring most of what you have said, imagine Oasis making a comeback and Liam singing like this 🤣

Bit contradictory if you read it back .. The other comments support what i said, but it is only my opinion. They are definitely not a headliner act . Sorry.

What is the criteria for a headline act? I don't necessarily disagree with you, AM aren't really my thing, but just wondering what everyone's thoughts are considering people have different tastes.

Useless the Arctic Monkeys. Not as bad as Foo Fighters though the most overrated band ever, all this most hard working man in music bollox.

They are definitely a headline act. Not doing it so good tonight, but they are a headline act. Their concerts are still instant sell outs all over the world.

They’ve changed their music style over and over again over the years and now I think they’ve gone too far from what they were and it doesn't work.

Didn’t rate their recent album at all. Time to stick to what you’re good at. And drop all the pretensions. .

Why is it that every lass who sit astride their partners shoulders know every word to every song performed by every band, while I still struggle with the lyrics to ‘She Loves You’ by the Beatles Band. 🤷

I'll disagree with you there and say Coldplay are bigger. Headlined it more and have pretty much dominated the world moreArctic Monkeys haven't done quite ad well. Doesn't make them better mind but I don't think you're correct with your post
