Neil Critchley, this is what he does.

He takes time, he's painstaking, he changes the team too often, he says "errr" too much, he plays players out of positions, he tinkers, he trawls, he frustrates, BUT his process is unquestionable, because regardless of what you think of the man, he improves the team and players throughout the season, it's what he does.

It's not always immediate, but every full season he's managed, the team he ended with was better than what he started with and that is 100% down to the methodology of Neil Critchley. And we are starting to see that improvement take place throughout the squad in spades...

We haven't won anything yet, there will be many more ups and downs, but with Neil Critchley at the helm I have full faith that regardless of what happens we will only go from strength to strength with this squad. Lucky to have him.

Progress is our club motto and Neil Critchley perfectly embodies that.

💯 now is the time to get behind Critch fuck off this he left us and he's a snake nonsense and let's get back to our 12th man that was so important in our first season back in the Championship.
Absolutely, get Bloomfield rocking for the next two home games against Northampton and Carlisle.

We're not where we want to be yet, but we're improving and in position.

The adrenaline is pumping now and everyone around the club can see what's taking shape...

you got yer flights booked for May yet? :) 🍊

I think the start of the season was about players who had been humiliated for a season, getting some decent quality coaching and self belief back.

I dare say, NC had some self doubt - he'd had a disastrous spell since leaving us and the way he left us he must have wondered whether he could get the best out of the players and could he reconnect with the fans.

It's fair to say we are seeing the consequence of a lot of work.

I would add, for a club of our size (not stature) we need everything to click; when they do, we are significantly bigger than the sum of our individual parts.

The coach and players are getting their act together; it's time we got BR bouncing again; we haven't really this season - the players and staff deserve it.

Yep, from a coaching perspective Critchley has already greatly improved the team, I can't wait to see what we look like in May.

Also think it's important to note how good our Summer business is looking in hindsight. Again, nothing has been won yet, but it's looking good.

People were screaming bloody murder on Deadline Day when we didn't sign a striker or "use the Yates money", but that is now looking like a very sound decision.

Despite injuries across the board our squad is still incredibly strong. How many other teams in the division could lose players like Lavery, Norburn, Casey, Virtue and GET BETTER???

We are in a great position going into the crucial Winter period and we've (hypothetically) got money in the bank that we didn't spend in the Summer for this upcoming window.

Good for you.

I really don't want to go through all that again.

I know it would be a great marketing opportunity as a rehash of "The perfect 10" but I just want to go up without the stress.
My thoughts exactly, Playoff Finals are always the perfect way to go up, but they come with a huge price which is feeling physically sick from the nerves of playing in it.

If we went up automatically I doubt I'd be able to attend, but if that's what happens I'll be more than ok with that outcome!

Early days still but he was the best choice and everyone knew he takes time to get a team playing, but some are just hung up on giving it Dobbie because he won a couple of dead rubbers and used to play for us on loan.
Agreed, think it's very funny that one of the biggest drawbacks people had about Critch was that his style of play was dull and boring (which tbf it was at times when he was here before), but we've already got more than half the goals we had during our 20/21 promotion season and we haven't even hit 23 games yet.

Today was brilliant even if I did miss the last two goals owing to an over zealous boss who unreasonably expects me to work during match time. As to Critchley I'd have been perfectly OK if he'd been sacked after 10 games and nothing less than promotion will change that. We are nowhere near where we should be given the quality of our squad. I'm a grumpy old curmudgeon so let's see where we are by Christmas, play offs minimum requirement. If we don't go up this season we'll be here a long time because all those players some slag off will be snapped up by other teams.

Also want to make note of how fun the 3-4-1-2 formation has been to watch.

It really suits the players well.

With three CBs it allows us to deal with the shithouse teams in the division while also being able to control the game with three in the middle (with the "1" in the middle being given creative freedom to progress the ball) while also having width and a strike partnership to boot.

Critchley has never played that formation before as well which probably explains some of the early season growing pains, but it really works a treat. Excited to see it continue to improve.

Hmmm. Not sure he improved QPR. Looking good now after a slow start. Let’s see if we get prmoted.
We should with this squad

He wasn’t the right man to deal with the Prima Donnas at QPR, as other respected managers found out too!
Always a poor fit for him

Indeed. I almost fell asleep part way through your post. Gloss over the facts all you like pal. ‘This is what he does’ is him stumbling across a formula despite it being there for all to see, claiming it as sone form of footballing masterstroke and then begging slippy Gerrard to let him dangle his dice on his forehead.

Why the talk of the Play-offs?
You only aim for the Play-offs when automatic is impossible.
Picks the same team week after week?

jeez, give it a rest. we've just won 4 nil away at the the top of the table bear-pit and you're arguing the toss. over what exactly? you don't like critchley. nice one. so what are you gonna do about it? moan on here like an impotent, self-entitled twit and pick on a poster who is acting in good faith and, y'know, trying to be objective and add something of value.

i'm just glad you're in the minority....again.

Give over with your enthusiasm!

The quality of players in the squad and the 3 4 1 2 formation is the key to us doing well. Particularly the 1 behind the 2.
Credit to him for picking it in the last two games but he has held these cards for a while and it has taken him a bit longer than it should to play them in the right order.
However we are progressing and appear to be picking up momentum so I will say he's doing a good job right now.

I do enjoy reading positive posts as I do think there is far too much negativity generally on this forum. I also do like Critch. I think he’s doing a great job. Just go easy on the rimming is all I’m saying. He’s already shown that he thinks he’s bigger and better than us. Ram your tongue too far up his arse and I guarantee he’ll be out of here quicker than shit through a goose. Again.

Another woman scorned, by the sound of it 😲

He clearly doesn't 'think he's bigger and better than us' or he wouldn't be here. He was persuaded to leave us for a contract that would have secured his families future, which given his relatively limited earnings up to that point, was almost certainly an offer that was too good to refuse.

I think the trouble is that too many of those who were so deeply wounded by him leaving (and all of the 'he never said goodbye' nonsense) were actually involved in some kind of 'relationship' with him (in their own heads at least) whether that involved rimming, who know's, but it's interesting you brought it up (a subliminal fantasy perhaps?).

The rest of us, who can simply appreciate a good manager for what he is and understand the transient nature of players and managers alike, were able to move on quickly and welcome him back with open arms. He's a very good manager and that's all that matters....

Certainly making up for the blizzard of 0-0 results earlier this term. Great to see.
Eieieio up the football league we go.

Last two matches have shown the value of less tinkering with a winning team and ,how important it is to start a game with a high tempo . I hope he continues with this policy but only time will tell . Can’t help feeling if we had shown Bolton a little less respect and started as we did against Pompey we would be celebrating a 3 win run . Never wanted him back but I am pleased if we have turned a corner . Yesterdays match was exciting , we showed attacking intent from the off and, he stuck with a winning team. Well done Neil . Same again for Northampton please .

The I Told You Sos have started, predictably. Superb yesterday no doubt and the line up got what it deserved. He ain't no genius imho. Dembele has been the catalyst for making the 352 work. Without him we would still be flattering to deceive. But the future looks bright if we can keep Dembo and JR. Joseph and JR up top with KK as an option looks a strong attack.

When Dembele arrived, the stock response from the doubters was :

“He doesn’t fit into the 352 system, why the fuck has Critchley wasted a loan on someone who will barely play…. This lad is an out and out winger” etc..

Of course now all of a sudden, the lad who Critchley has tracked for years is the “key to our success”, but the manager who put all the jigsaw pieces together “ain’t no genius”😂

Just like Jordan Rhodes “The journeyman who hadn’t scored for years”

Maybe the fairies just sprinkle a bit of magic dust on Blackpool and the magic just happens all by itself 😉

And the told you so's will be out in force after our next defeat with their negative shite.

Just get behind our managers whoever they are but that's too hard for some.

Some people had a very narrow view of Dembele and what he could do, not sure what they based it on as he is only 20 and is still a work in progress.
It was obvious from his first appearance for us that he had a great first touch, was deceptively strong and could pick a pass.
He is playing in the right position so credit to Critchley for putting him there.

They were the views of some Bifster, agreed. But you’re generalising to lump anyone in who doubted elements of the messiah’s second coming with the more extreme posters. Anyway, onwards and upwards 🧡 “I am not the messiah, honestly” “Only the true messiah denies his divinity” 😉
