Blackpool v Exeter Official Matchday Thread 13.01.24

I know it's only Exeter and we should be at least 3 up but this is the best I've seen Blackpool play in a long long while

Ship them out if they're that unprofessional... I like to think our players are a little more educated and team players.
I knew you'd take that stand. Sometimes you have to realise a manager can cause the issues and cause factions in the dressing room. Players can do of course, but the manager, if he isn't clever can cause a lot of unrest. They said the best manager was Harry Redknapp as he could always make you laugh and when he dropped you you came out of his office thinking you had requested it! 😂

Another goal kills this off. These are poor. I actually fancied them as dark horses for the play-offs after watching them in the reverse fixture at the start of the season. I seem to remember them being very dangerous on the flanks.

Let's just get a second and put this to bed 🤞🏻

I forgot how much more you see being at games compared to watching on TV. Connolly isn't good enough, his positional play is so poor, he's nearly been caught out a few times this half. Husband has given the ball away 6+ times as well. We need a CH for sure this window. However, in general I think we've played well this half. Deserved to be ahead and should have at least another. That was a great goal by Morgan, he seems to be finding some constancy to his game now and Joseph has looked threatening on the left at times. Hopefully we get the same performance second half and get a couple more goals.

Actually thought we played quite well. Biggest regret is not being more than 1-0 up as these are really shit.

Atmosphere is dire but expected these days.

I thought thy they'd do better as well, but I seem to remember them losing a couple of players late in the summer transfer window and they obviously haven't been able to replace them.

Agreed, it’s man management, not as easy with prima Donna footballers and some can’t be brought onboard and have to leave, but it is the managers job

Yeah, I agree, we have played pretty well and if it wasn't for the softest hit penalty in the history of penalties we would be 2 up. Just keep it going this half, some subs on 65 minutes and it'll be reet.

very low energy performance so far, Morgan has been standout, superb strike for the goal, we're not getting dembele into the game, and largely playing over him. take norburn off, move morgan into the central role bring on carey. or bring on virtue and play morgan more forward. i would also bring on marv for connolly, cos i can see us getting caught on the break.

norburn's been worse.
I think we still need to find that midfielder we have been missing for so long. Morgan is really coming good and we have Virtue and Carey who are good options but we are still missing that real driving force from in front of the defence.

Coulson is having a really good debut and as a proper wing back then it was the right player to bring in.

Again, what has Norburn done wrong? He's shown for the ball, retained possession, he's looked composed, and made some sensible if a little safe passes.
Admittedly I'm watching on TV, and I agree that you have a better perspective at the game.

He has done okay, I just think we need to replace Kenny. For me the team have played well and we can change it too later this half. I like the look of Joseph too, clever player.

Looking at the latest League One table we are way behind aren’t we.

4 Points off Barnsley who have two games in hand
7 Points off Oxford who have a game in hand
7 Points off Derby who have two games in hand

Seems a long time since we were in the Top 6 and let’s bear in mind after this game we’ll have played 15 at home and 12 away and we all know about our away form.

Stop looking on the bright side 🤣

Could do with at least one of Barnsley/Oxford getting pegged back this half.
