OLD PICTURES OF BLACKPOOL FC

That was where I was stood for the Hartlepool play off game in 2001...it was absolutely rocking in there and I’ll always remember that day. That was one of the few times I ever went onto the pitch...nobody else did, so I shook hands with some of the players!
I was in the Scratchers that day too. Seem to remember a blantant foul on the edge of the area at the South Stand end which the ref bizarrely missed....oh for VAR..!!

Seeing that picture of a snow bound BR made me wonder how long ago was the last time we had a real snowfall at BR?

Crazy atmosphere for that one with us all hemmed in!! A great experience.

That borough park photo really took me back. Used to go with my dear departed dad to the Greyhounds of an evening. Had some laughs trying to pick which long odds trap 6 dog on its last legs had been given a shot of amphetamine before the race....there was one every night!

Just a thought and may be it’s already happened, but wouldn’t it be a great idea if all these pics and more with narratives could be brought together as one maybe a book or other alternative. This thread has brought back many happy memories for us all 👍

Bayern, i agree but the problem is the copyright issues. I've tried to get answers before on copyright of some photos and never got a straight answer.

Yep, great thread - I'm always awe-struck when I see how many people used to pack the stadium, and the old kop in particular! 👍

Wonderful thread. Keep posting folks!!

I didn't realise the old greyhound track had a footy pitch in the middle.

Request from me: does anyone have any more of the old railway that ran to central station? I've looked on google but there isn't any of Yeadon Way with tracks on it.

Found this one - you can just about see the ground in the distance. Bpool_Tower_Central_Drive_1908.jpg

A few local footy teams played here after the rugby finished.
From memory I remember playing there against Mammas in a Sunday Alliance game, Boars Head in the Saturday Combination (who I played for) used it for a season and possibly Wren Rovers for a season?
Matrix played a few games there I think.

Here's one from 1933 at home to Preston, we're in the striped shirts and white shorts, there were 28,771 there that day and Jimmy Hampson scored our goal (was this picture his goal?).

Super photo. When I was a kid I got talking to an old guy at a match and I asked him how long he'd supported Blackpool he replied that he'd been coming long enough to remember when the ground was painted in blue and white. Great to see a pic of us playing at home in this kit.
