Crewe v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 17.10.20

As I said at half time, very pretty football.

We have little punch upfront, although a better ref may have helped, Madine was constantly fouled throughout the game yet the ref ignored it, with a more even ref, we may have had another shot on goal, or is that being too optimistic. Time and again we squandered decent movement to pass sideways or even backwards instead of getting it into the danger area, i.e. their box. The Crewe goal was a typical sucker punch, much like last week against Ipswich, we failed to defend and mark players out of the game. I must admit, I'm at a loss to see where we are going to win our next game.

ARGGGGGGG.
Yep. We just don’t look like we play winning football

Said it before, Jerry Yates is the new Joe Nuttall. Big fanfare when signed but unfortunately not very good. I don’t understand the love in with Yates, this time last year Nuttall was getting pelters but it’s like Jerry is immune to criticism. No goals is not a record a striker wants
He’s technically dreadful. Ball just continually bounces off him. Contributes nothing other than running like a headless chicken getting in the way of everything.

Only saw the 2nd half and thought we looked alright. Crewe’s goal came from nothing, with is always a concern, and after recent results I genuinely expected us to fold but in fairness the players got the ball down and played well and we scored a rather scruffy goal ourselves. Not the finish itself which was an excellent strike from Ward, just it was a bit of bounce around in the box before it.

We certainly looked the stronger team but equally Crewe didn’t really look like much.

Tougher tests ahead but you will always take a point away from home, especially after going behind, especially after being on a very poor run of results.

Played some good possession football again today, defensively looked better but we’ve got some good ammo on the bench to come in. Again lacked in the final third but l think that will improve as the team improves. l thought Williams was our MoTM and as I’ve said many times before he gets and does the dirty stuff very well.
Just me you and a couple of others who have been saying from the start of the season get Williams in the team.

Some just don't get that it's not what they may bring themselves but what it enables others to do.

Got nothing against William's and if we are all honest, none of us have seen enough of him to make a balanced judgement. Pleased Ward got the goal but he still isnt doing for me. Just my opinion.

I won't argue with your Ward judgement but, under pressure in the box, he showed great presence of mind to go what was required.

But we have. Seen him play a couple of times for Rochdale in this league and he also played and started against Barrow which was Robsons best game so far because of the presence of Williams.

Ward is a lot more difficult to judge but I think he may be one to make way with the new players.

Who knows!!?

I didn’t think subs were needed after we levelled, there was nothing on the bench to improve what we had. I think Ward would have been subbed for Anderson, had he not scored.
Oh dear Timpers. Anderson is injured and wasn't even on the bench.
On FotMob (I'll do the stats shortly) they gave Yates the highest mark and Ward was second.
I think marks were pretty even across the board. Probably Robson was my MOM but no stars and no duffers today.

This is going to sound like sour grapes, but the referees we have seen this year so far have largely been shit. there was a direct pull on a blackpool player as he was going through no action, and then a turton challenge for a 50-50 gets him a booking. Madine was being pulled, kicked and jumped on all game but didnt get a free kick in his favour until the 80th odd minute. there were times he was pulling both teams up and then letting quite nasty challenges go. rant ov

They where shit last season also but in reality they are just human and make mistakes and always have.
With TV now we get to analize a lot more than thinking you saw a dodgy decision at the other end of the ground.

I agree, except I have watched it 3 times now and Turton was nowhere near the ball.

l haven’t seen Williams play for Rochdale but I’ve been very impressed when he’s played for us

If I did see him play for Rochdale then I wasnt aware. I think both will make way for hhd new guys if I'm honest.

I was going to say that GJ, we seem to now have a plethora of players. The new lad from Barnsley will be expecting to play I'd imagine. One of critchleys biggest challenges must be to keep this squad happy.

I'd hope that after a fairly solid showing today, we're in a position to not have to rush any of the recent signings in to the first XI.

Gabriel, Garbutt, Ballard, Gretarsson, Woodburn & Dougall may all well be able to add to the team, but I think it is important now to not rush them in until they're ready, either from a fitness point of view or from an understanding the system one.

Not negative at all. Just not got my head buried in the sand and am able to be realistic.

It was a much needed point. Nothing more, nothing less. And certainly nothing to be high fiving the dog over.
Based on our last 4 league games I think it is a time to high five the Dog. 😊

...and if you think he's playing well and a goal threat then you're Stupid.
I've seen the shite you post on facebook. You get dogs abuse on there too. I used to think you were a wind up merchant. But your constant defending of the Oystons was just too difficult to ignore. Now you hate the fact that the club has been taken over by an ambitious Blackpool fan and you don't like it. So you just snipe away at the manager and players. You just seem to thrive on being one of the minority. Going against the opinion of 99% of others. Oystonite and a mushroom of the highest order.

Haha, I was going off what Junior TT told me, I didn’t see the subs. Best performance for me, better than Swindon victory.

Another idiot and coward.

I didn't say you were being negative... just pointing out that some people are.

So many children having petty squabbles and vendettas on here. Why can`t people tolerate different opinions on our team without constantly getting personal and often abusive? After all at the end of the day we all support the same team.
