Innoculation news

Up to 2.4 million according to Boris. That's ramped up on last week.

Good news.
1.1 million in a week is a good ramp up. Hopefully can get close to the 2 million mark this week and then will be on track for the 15 million most vunerable being vaccinated (those that want to be) by mid-Feb.

Our local GP partnership are starting local vaccinations on Friday.

Mass inoculation centres opening in Leeds, Wakefield, Huddersfield and Bradford soon and no doubt throughout the rest of the country, that should ramp the figures up hopefully.

I suspect they have played things down as Boris was keen to release regular updates on Baccine progress apparently...

He’s not going to be keen to front that news unless he knows he’ll be exceeding expectations.

EDiT: it’s good news though whichever way you look at it.

The rest of Europe are kicking off because the UK is cracking on. But we will have to ramp it up to meet the 2m a week promised. It would need 12.5m in 5 weeks to meet Boris's middle of February target of 15m.

After the fuck ups & shenanigan's with track & trace, ppe contracts, there must be severe pressure to get this right. Lets hope so. Still they will include second dose people too & definitely overstate the figures as much as possible.

So is the target figure the number of people fully vaccinated, or just having had the first jab?
Personally, I want to know how many are fully vaccinated.

It was being reported earlier that only a small percentage of nursing home residents had been vaccinated

I thought they were being prioritised

Still good to see things moving

According to latest news Tam 23%, still a long way to go but long May it continue.Afterthe track and trace debacle I was a little worried we’d mess up, not according to these figures though. Well done everyone, and a special mention toVolunteers and retired professional people giving up time. I salute you.

Now saying theyll all have an appointment for a jab by the end of January.

Nearly 1.4m jabs given in a week is very creditable - I suspect supply of vaccine isn't the limiting factor at the moment but probably will be by end of month when the numbers per week will be plateau. Pressure will then go on the 3 suppliers (but especially AstraZeneca) to get the supply up but the suppliers will be having to balance that against demand from other countries.

How many other countries have approved Oxford Astrazeneca jab?

Another good news thread and so many of the usual suspects missing. Political point scoring comes first for so many rather than the fact 2 million people have been vaccinated.
Normally I regard you as a bit of a pillock but on this I am with you.
