Anderson out for rest of the season

He's obviously had this injury for a while, if he has been playing for us injured this season then I can't wait to see how good he is without it. Wish him a speedy recovery.

I would have thought the problem would have been identified when he had his medical. Strange how we've signed more crocks than most over the years.

Felt like quite a bit of the recruitment last summer was through an agent(s) of choice offering the club out of contract solutions. He was the first one in and then others seemed to follow fairly quickly. Thought we were getting a travelling army of lads who'd finished up at Swindon at one point with their reps looking for the next opportunity. Missed a lot of time with them last season so a punt on his availability. And maybe more cost effective that way. We're league one so despite all the bells and whistles, it happens.

Yes and we're likely to remain in league1 until we go for quality over quantity.

The time to do that was probably before voting for a salary cap so it'll come down to the effectiveness of coaching and negotiation now. And retention of anyone who looks like they can make a difference.
Bit of a blow really. He was starting to blossom. Good luck to him.
Yes. Looks like a knee problem rather than a hamstring as NC said but sounds like a might as well get it done thing.

Unfortunately, the coaching has been ineffective to date.

What is his injury ? Do we expect him to fit for the start of next season.

Shame for the lad, but it does sound like it was just a matter of time from some posts above.

What this des do however, is to clarify the arc ahead of the 2 'holding' mids and behind Y&M. We had too many 'put 'em all in a blender' types, so with Kemp gone, A out and Woodburn likely to go back, there are now clear, limited choices and who knows we may get some thinking about what's needed, rather than chopping.

I was really gutted when I saw this, for him and the club.
Can’t question Anderson’s effort when he’s played, similar to Yates, never stops running or trying as fans we love that.

I’m going to be controversial here and go against the majority opinion, I don’t actually think this is a loss for us this season.

He’s struggled for game time and when he has been played, it looks as thought, like with many of them he’s been experimented with and had his talents completely nullified. Thus resulting in him hardly contributing to the season. Not a knock on him he along with a few players have just not been used correctly and we still don’t know what many of them can actually do.

Looks like he needed this surgery for a while. Let’s hope it sorts what ever the problem was for good.

Will he ever get back into contention though?
If we’re sticking with a 442 or one of its varieties is there room for him? We have a multitude of options in the midfield, there’s talk of us brining in another creative midfielder who can crack defences, I can’t say that he’s pulled up trees as a wide man so it’s currently very hard to see where he fits in the future.

All the best for your recovery Keshi

I think it is hard to judge him if he has been carrying an injury for 2 years. Clean slate for next season for me

I agree impossible to judge him, and I think he has something as a player.

My point was though, if we’re sticking with 442 or even of we’re not, we have Dougal, Ward,Virtue. There’s talk of another creative midfielder coming in. With a squad and salary cap can we keep him, and if we do who moves out.

Hm, not sure I agree with this approach. Even if he was to come back for the END of the season, it leaves us a man down until then - surely it'd be better for him to just come back fighting fit for next season, rather than just catch the end and take up a squad place? Especially when we're crying out for some signings.
Surely then you'd agree with this approach as we'll be bringing in another player?

Does seem daft if he’s out for the season, but I’d only say if we get a good loan in his place.

As he’s not injured forever so if you sign someone to play in his position we’ll be over loading the squad again next season for the sake of 6 months of an injury. Saying that I do think we need a creative central midfielder so someone’s going to be left without a place.

Someone like Robson or Virtue should be played regularly in his place, not that he’s actually had much of a place this season.

Critchley is saying in that article that it hasn't been discussed, omitting him from the squad. It's something they'll decide upon at the "end of the window" as they'll know more about his surgery "in a few weeks".

The transfer window will be closed by then. Could get a loan to replace him so I guess that must be their thinking.

There is the mental impact on the player. Leaving him out means even if he works hard and gets back early there's no place for him. Also the player may not feel like part of the set-up anymore.

If a player does come in then yes, leave him out- you can explain that to him easy enough. Otherwise don't kick a dog when it's down.

Another reason to be wary of leaving him out is if the season gets suspended again at some point and there is a month or two break (unlikely but you never know) then there’s the chance of him being fit for the restart.

It is clearly an injury that he is going to take some time to recover from and then get match fit. Keeping him the named squad in the hope that he might, and I say might, get a couple of games at the end of the season is just a waste of a place for me. We are not going to get promoted this season, so I would rather be fully fit for the start of next.

That was said last week, Critch I think said he's back on grass and may re-appear before the end of the season. Ahead of schedule.

Actually a really good option to bring off of the bench. In this formation/tactics I think Anderson would be class replacing either Kaikai or Embleton. Not sure it suits CJ mind.

Hope so. Would be a bonus if he can end up covering for someone who was brought in as cover for him in the 18, at least for the Sunderland away game at the end of the month. Hopefully this op has resolved what he's been struggling with but it's whether he makes a comeback and then gets hit with something else, like CJ. To me if we're going to see value from his contract then he'll hopefully have got that sorted and can be fully ready for pre-season. Definitely has a trick about him but as Swindon found you don't want to have to be constantly (thinking about) needing to bring in an extra player just to have him around. Expensive hobby, that.

But again anything a bonus really at this point, same with Madine now. Felt like a big boost just to have been able to fill the bench with seven senior players again on Monday.

But what is the Stewart situation? Chizzy says out for the season, although Scrafters doesn't mention him in the players with no hope for the season.
I can't recall the club updating us on his progress.

Last I read KS was seen at the ground after the Plymouth game and was still using crutches with that boot on so good if he's at least past that stage now. Not seen what the injury is. I only saw him end up on the floor at the time. He missed three months at Hull with a break in his right foot so hopefully no flare up of that.

Dirty Fleetwood bastard with a very late challenge into his ankle that the ref ignored at the time.
