Can anybody explain ..

Simple mistake, he meant mid-Feb, but said mid-April, 8th March being 3 weeks after the JCVI group 1-4 target was met and sufficient time for the recipients to achieve maximum immunity.

The bloke is utterly useless in interviews or in any pressure situation. It’s not the first time he’s been completely tongue tied and stammered / tongue twisted his way through something like this... He must be good at something to justify his appointment, but it isn’t this!

That said, the gist of what he is saying isn’t that difficult to work out:-

1. Schools will open 8th March and that date isn’t coincidental, because it’s the date when 3 weeks will have passed from the completion on the first phase of vaccinations.... (The most vulnerable).

2. They expect all over 50’s to be vaccinated by the middle of April.

Like I say, he seems to get really flummoxed under pressure.

Have you been breathing in the fumes again
Well, that's mature.

To me the protests are all about structural racism that exists to this day. The protests in this country are about the structural racism that is in our society. It's not really about George Floyd and what he did in the past.

As an example;
Two incompetant politicians; Diane Abbot and Boris Johnson, neither particularly effective IMO
One is the target of hate messages, death threats and rape threats. Ridiculed in popular culture and the butt of many jokes.
The other gets to become PM despite having on several occasions having made and written overtly racist things and is considered a loveable rogue, a Billy Bunter type figure often caught with his hand in the cookie jar as another lie he has told is exposed.

As ElBurro points out our non-white politicians get abuse more than white ones; Patel is another

Answers on a postcard then, why Iraqi born, Nadhim Zahawi gets dogs abuse for a relatively inane interview after overseeing one of the most successful vaccination campaigns in history.

Boris / Hancock / Williamson all get pelters

Patel deserves it. She's vile and that's fuck all to do with her race or colour and everything to do with her personality, attitude and demeanour.

The three you pick backs up the point made by El Burro. There's a list of stuff with legitimate concerns with them three but Zahawi has overseen something we've got spectacularly right and because he has a poor interview, bang, the posters jump all over him.

We both know why.

Not sure how much is down to him to be honest
He hasn't been in role for three months yet
The procurement was by far and away the important thing and that began in earnest last April with the creation of the vaccine task force under Kate Bingham.
Distribution has then been coordinated by the Army and delivery by the NHS

Oooh, not usually the case that I find myself on the wrong side of this argument.

the interview was gobbledygook from a government minister who should know his brief inside out after three months in such a single agenda role.

I don’t think the evidence to hand supports your argument. I may be wrong but I can’t recall having seen a single criticism of Zahawi either here or in the National press since he took on his role until today

Please correct me if I’m wrong

So you agree he's doing a great job, had a bad interview and you piled in; you didn't think about why it was bad?

Given he is Iraqi; can you think for a moment why he might be very cautious around the media? He and his family will have been brought up to be incredibly wary of what to say, what not to say, what's the angle? And it wouldn't have been to stop posters on an obscure message board from having a dig - it would have been to save their lives. His heritage and loved experience could have directly impacted on his media performance - and you (and others) jumped on it despite his success in the role.

I could have used the term frothing gammon to describe the reaction - but it's lazy, doesn't make it true, and an insult based on skin colour isn't helpful or mature in my opinion.

You say you're on the wrong side of the debate; I disagree, you're simply on a different side of a debate but it that's what it is - a difference of opinion which we are all entitled to do without succumbing to lazy tropes when we disagree.

A lefty says it’s fuck all to do with racism and they are deemed intellectual . A right of centre says something against a person of colour and they are a Nazi Bigoted racist. 🤔
.... and you gleaned all of this from the posts above did you, Scara, or are you just trotting out more of your usual bollocks

I wouldn't say that. Your first sentence is fair enough but I wouldn't say that all people right of centre are racist and certainly not Nazis.

1) I have no idea whether he’s doing a great job or not - you can put me in the same category as TAM on this one

2) I agree that he had a bad interview and have already said as much. As for my ‘piling in’, perhaps you can explain your thinking on that one.

3) You say that he is Iraqi when he is both Kurdish and British. Not sure what you mean about his ‘family’. If you mean his parents, they left Iraq for Britain in 1976, one would assume having seen the writing on the wall when Hussein took power from Al Bakr. As for the impact of his heritage and ‘loved experience’ (?) on his media performance, you really are talking bollocks. This is a guy who was educated at two independent schools in London and at UCL. Someone who co-founded Yougov. Someone who has been involved in British politics since 1991, an MP since 2010.

4) On the subject of racism, there are only two sides to the debate. A person is either racist or not racist, imo. You seem to suggest that being racist is an acceptable point of view, something that I would vehemently disagree with.

5) You’ve lost me on ‘lazy trope’. Given that you live on Teeside, I believe, and Middlesbrough’s long association with ICI and the chemical industry, I thought my ‘breathing the fumes’ comment was fairly original.

Looking forward to the judicial review brought by the FDA on Boris' ignoring of the Civil Service code on her bullying charge. Unintentional bullying is no defence, yet that was the reason given by Boris.
