It will be interesting to see how this turns out. I'm glad the OP has finally decided that Alex Salmond is the voice of truth. It's not the impression he has given before. 😀

It is really difficult to work out who is the goodie and who the baddie in all this, for a social Democratic Party, the SNP are very keen on censorship. Alex Salmond was cleared of all allegations of sexual misconduct, yet the SNP supposedly wants to keep evidence secret to protect the identity of those who made the complaints. Seems fair enough, until you learn the alleged connections between the complainants. Disregard for legal advice that they would lose, leading to a bill of over £700K to the taxpayer.

Personally, I am hoping this blows the SNP apart. Whilst Ms Sturgeon has been front and centre with all the news, good and bad, in Scotland though the epidemic, their record on education, drugs, all the things they control, rather than Whitehall, is dire. Those of you whom have read a few of my posts may be surprised that I think Ruth Davidson would make a much better FM.

Totally agree. Sturgeon is a disruptive influence in British politics. Whenever I watch FMQT I'm always impressed by Ruth Davidson and the way she winds up Sturgeon. You can always tell she's getting to her when the First Minister starts shaking her head when she's speaking. Looks like one of those dogs in the back window of your car.

I'm not convinced they are a social democratic party. Far too keen on state control over people's lives.

Seems a bit odd to me that they won't be publicising her testimony when she has given it. Tbe Salmond submission will be in the public domain, so she will be in the situation of being 'tried in public' anyway. Of course this committee has an SNP majority, so you know in advance what the result will be, especially when it is supported by an administrative civil service is also also criticised in the action against Salmond

I always enjoy watching Andrew Neil pull her to bits. BRR2 will be along to try and defend her honour in a minute. Loves her.

Correct about the SNP and correct about Davidson. Johnson's a fool for causing her to resign from the leadership of the Scottish Tories.

This has been bubbling below the surface for quite some time and the interesting thing for me is how it’ll play out in the May elections. All the predictions, at the moment, are that the SNP will do very well and then use that as a springboard for another independence referendum. But this could be a huge spanner in the world so far as those plans are concerned; even more so if Sturgeon has to resign.

What’s that saying? Nature abhors a vacuum. And in the absence of any credible opposition in Scotland the SNP is fighting a civil war.

There is a lot of factionalism in the SNP. With little credible opposition in Scotland at present there is no external opponent to unite against. Add into the mix the overweening ambition of Sturgeon and the bullying manner of Salmond and there will be blood on the floor. Whether the average Scottish voter takes any notice is moot, given the prevailing “Braveheart” attitudes against the English. But when the money runs out after independence, they will turn on the SNP.

What I don't understand about Scotland and the SNP is the fact that they have a man at Westminster, Ian Blackford, who is also a pro-nationalist, yet on the other hand, is asking the Chancellor for £98billion, whilst also being criticised for re-publishing a picture of the Scottish Border with a sign saying F--- Off we're closed. Language not befitting his position and for which he is refusing to apologise. Meanwhile, the two disputants in Scotland slug it out in court, yet the Scottish people, on the whole, seem to love them and if they do achieve independence will then live under a dictatorship.

You want to understand Scottish politics??

Good luck with that 👍

The real shame, is that like most political parties, there are many many lovely committed people in the SNP, but their "leaders", maybe "despots" would be a better word, are so busy fighting for the top themselves that they have lost track of why they went into politics. Isn't that true of most politicians these days?

They are definitely not loved by all the Scottish people.

National Socialists, what could possibly go wrong.

It's going to be interesting to see how it all pans out and whether there is a National Party of Scotland formed if they split.

That both seem very sure of their positions though.

I see as Salmond's evidence was published as agreed, then redacted as not agreed, he is now no longer appearing tomorrow. He has asked to brief MSPs, if that doesn't happen, I think he will go the Press Conference route. For those of you who have not followed this, if evidence isn't published, it cannot be used in the report, so he has basically been censored.

There's a bit of me that think today's Scottish Lockdown dogs breakfast was designed to take focus off the inquiry, and I'm not normally one for conspiracy theories.

I hadn't realised that.

Makes his accusations of a concerted campaign, that bit more credible, I think.

I say let them go and paddle their own canoe, they hate us, hate Westminster and cost us a lot of money. God riddance.
