The fact a young woman was taken and murdered when walking home in the early evening is shocking enough, but the news that a serving Metropolitan Police Officer has been arrested for her murder and a woman (I presume his partner) arrested for assisting him is even more horrifying. Not only that he is now being linked to other attacks and his garden is being dug up at his home address in Kent.

My partner asked me last night what my thoughts were on the disappearance last night as I used to be a serving officer and worked on several murder investigations. I gave her my thoughts but this was certainly not one of them.

My thoughts are with this poor girl and her family and boyfriend. What a tragedy. I have a horrible feeling this predator may have a long history of violent, sexual crime and used his position as a means to let him do this. More victims? Certainly, more bodies I wouldn't be surprised.

Are there any Met officers who aren't bad apples? Seems to happen time and time again.
 
I think there are bad apples in every profession. They rarely outweigh the good though.
Some, as we know, go into these professions purely because they have access to the vulnerable,
Some would just be bad whatever profession they went into.
Praying for this young lady, but it seems unlikely she will not have come to harm 🥴

That's just utter bollocks Wiz, how can you even say that, never mind back it up with any facts, you can't.

This man is clearly a sexually motivated psychopath and they are few in number, thank god. They could be a policeman, a bus driver, a council worker, a musician etc., etc., this isn't about police officers, it's about the horror that a woman has been taken and killed by someone she should have been able to trust 100%.

I wasnt being entirely serious, too many episodes of Line of Duty probably.

It's an abuse of a trusted occupation that makes it so deplorable, true enough.

It's about using you position to fool people who should be able to trust you. This sounds like such an incident and many dangerous people join professions to be able to do their dark deeds and give them more of a chance of getting away with it.

FFS, Don't watch line of duty... I tried it and it is so inaccurate, I mean way way inaccurate that I couldn't watch it. The biggest load of shite on TV as far as I am concerned.

The fact that it was a so called trusted profession is what makes this more horrific than what it already was.

Do these people like ourselves-who work with the public- ever have DBS checks (though in my opinion aren’t fit for purpose).?
 
Terrible thing to happen.
I'd guess the police force attracts more than it's fair share of sexual predators and perverts. Uniforms, power, handcuffs and truncheons and a veneer of respectability.
My guess is there are more sexual wronguns in the police than most professions.
 
Supposed to be a member of the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Squad. Makes you wonder how good are the security and other checks

I hadn’t heard it was a fact she’d been murdered. Thought he was arrested on suspicion of, but that she was still missing.

It basically seems to be QAnon or some variant of it broadcast on primetime tv as entertainment, potentially I see it as quite damaging.

There's a conspiracy, we don't know what it's a conspiracy about but it involves powerful people, we don't know who they are because there's a conspiracy to stop us finding out, that conspiracy also involves powerful people but we don't know who they are because there's a conspiracy......................................

It seems that in this case he's the sort of officer who stands by the front door of 10 Downing Street or similar levels of responsibility, so perhaps not quite the "elite" level the squads name might lead you to believe.

I appreciate it's early days in the enquiry but what will worry the public is why the Police risk assessments of their officers wasn't able to pick this man up as a cause for concern.
 
They will have family liaison officers with them and they will be well informed. I did think about saying suspected murder and maybe I should have and as I type police have just found remains of a female body in Kent. But apologies for that Luney old chap.

Because they are fallible. They will have done psych assessments on him to have been an armed officer, he will have had high level background checks. What has happened is that a clever, manipulative and extremely dangerous individual has been able to avoid detection. If the information isn't there then it is impossible to act on. I have no doubt if there were any suspicions they will be leaked to the press in the near future, but there may not be any. If that is the case, how many other victims of his are there?

I feel for her family, it is heart breaking and such a tragedy that a young woman should be taken in such a terrible way. You also have to ask what part the woman who was arrested had in this, that is horrific too. It is the thing of nightmares..

Apart from two or three comments I'm struggling to see what is wrong with the general discussion on here? I feel I should know what you are seeing that I am not. It is a terrible occurrence and a difficult subject but worthy of discussion as it is the headline news, quite rightly.

No problem with the OP Pete. It's much of what follows that leaves a bad taste.

Wife arrested aswell. What about their two young children
They’ve said it could be some considerable time before theyre able to identify the human remains found earlier this evening 😪😪😪😪😪😪

Agree fully LaLa.
I think Wiz was a bit out of order with that comment.
 
I notice that a female is also under arrest on suspicion of assisting an offender. Why is it in these type of cases that there always seems to be people that do that? And they have never been threatened or coerced to do so. Some sick people
 
It’s terrible, but we’re in lockdown and she was walking home after visiting her friend. Because we’re in lockdown, there were probably few if anyone around at that time of night, even though it was relatively early.

I suspect a lot of the time they don't fully understand the situation, there's some kind of plausible explanation for their actions, a good reason for a little white lie and so on:

"could you help me wash this blood out of my shirt dearest, yeah some bloke got glassed down at the Dog and Duck and we had to clear up the mess afterwards"


Also note that at the moment it's suspicion and nothing more, that would likely be routine in this sort of case and it could be that she is completely innocent.
 
I see that Green lunatic Baroness Jones is even trying to lock up men from 6PM on curfew 😂
 
The police have announced that they have found 'remains' rather than a body and are calling in divers. This gets worse and worse. The poor family.
 
It must be devastating for her friends and family, even I who never knew of her till now feel a deep sense of sadness and horror that something like this could happen on the streets of this country.

My heart grieves for all those around her and especially for that poor poor girl.
