So this Ox/AZ jab

So I was waiting patiently to be called for my vaccine because I'm 48 and not at much risk other than being a bit overweight but was told last week, I should book one as TSSBro, is in a bubble with us and at a significantly elevated risk (he was vaccinated six or seven weeks ago). I didn't even know it was an option!

Booked it midweek, had it yesterday. Good Friday and a steady continuous flow of vaccinations being undertaken at a pharmacy in Darlington. In and out on about 5 minutes.

Everybody I know who has had it has had 24 hours of being a bit under the weather. I've had no side effects; nothing near the injection site, a tiny pin prick where the needle went in, no ache, no rash, no headache, nothing. It's been so inert it feels like it could have been a placebo!

Well done to the geniuses behind it and everybody in the roll out. Fantastic.

20 days until it creates a decent level of protection and my life starts begin to get a bit of normality with human touch!

Every hour on the hour the BBC tells us how many recipients of the AZ jab have been diagnosed with blood clots. That's not really helping.

One of the scientists said every condition that recipients are suffering around the same time as the jab is being linked with it, including excess wind and pregnancy.

Hell, you can get pregnant with it! Sales will go through the roof.

Yep.

The clots in question (cerebral venous sinus thrombosis) are very rare, about 15 per million people per year, but when you've given out doses of the stuff to 20m people you'd expect about 300 of them to develop these clots anyway, so the 30 they've found, given the timescale of the rollout, looks like the normal background incidence.

They don't mention that the incidence of blood clots is the same with the Pfizer vaccine 🤔

I wonder how many people in the UK (who had the vaccine) have died due to accidents or other (non vaccine) fatalities...🤔

In 2020; 211 people died from Paracetamol poisoning...so following that figure (and about 50% of the UK having had the jab).....
8 people will have died after having the C19 vaccine every month from something that's available over the counter

UK medical figures also show that close to 100,000 people in the UK die from a VTE (venous thromboembolism)
60% of ALL VTE occur in (or just after) being in hospital...it's the largest cause of preventable deaths in hospital

More people die from blood clots each year than the total number of people who lose their lives annually due to AIDS, breast cancer, and motor vehicle crashes combined.

And they are looking at (roughly) 30 - 60 cases.......out of 30,000,000 vaccinations in the UK........🙄

According to the BBC it's being investigated but they said the incidence is around 1 in 2.5 million and followed up with

If 2.5 million 60-year-old people caught coronavirus then around 50,000 would die. If they were all 40-year-olds then around 2,500 would die

Yep makes no sense to halt the vaccine over this.
Most vaccine programs are a trade off between saving the majority versus damaging a few.
Having said that it does feel as if we might have been covering up a few incidents of blood clots?
You could argue though that was the right thing to do anyway under the circumstances.

Had mine this morning and had only a few side affects, where I stopped spouting nonsense about Layton,The Tangobears and my liaison with @southshorepool in a hotel room.

Back to normal now.

Interestingly, if you look at all events with a fatal outcome the results are:
  • Ox/AZ - 421/18.1m = 23.3 deaths per million doses;
  • Pfizer - 283/10.8m = 26.2 deaths per million doses;
so, on the face of it, Pfizer is about 12.5% more dangerous than AZ.

Obviously this is meaningless in reality, but that hasn't stopped the EU (or the member states anyway) so far, so presumably there'll now be calls to suspend Pfizer as well.

I won't hold my breath.

And the best news is that there are no excess deaths for this time of year. And actually a lower death rate in the population than normal. Of course we are in abnormally risk averse times but still. Rejoice! As Margaret would’ve claimed 😀

I'm not sure if there's more issues with the AZ one that pfizer.

There's is stuff out there that suggest there were some issues but not looked into the legitimacy of the claims beyond a basic search.

There's bound to have been some side affects in a country where many millions have had the vaccines but I suppose it'll all come out.

It has now been 24 hours and all limbs are still attached, much like the first jab there doesn't appear to be any side effects for me but by all accounts Pfizer is better than the others in this regard.

In an unsurprising turn of events, PHE have mislaid my antibody test.

Have you suffered erectile dis function yet?

More nonsense

Do you email the BBC asking for a source everytime they report something?

No, but I do try to check the source, especially when something they claim looks implausible.

Change the record, you are very tedious.

In this case I asked because the claim looks implausible.

In an average year about 600,000 people die in the UK of all causes (you can google that yoursself) so 100,000 is 1/6, which is obviously a very large proportion, particularly for something that the poster claimed was preventable.

Also the comparison to AIDS and traffic accidents is odd, since these are relatively rare (brest cancer less so).
