Jumping the vaccine queue

I know three women, two I work with and all under 35, who have booked online claiming to be carers, which they’re not. One of them was saying only two weeks ago that she wasn’t having the jab because she didn’t think she needed it.

It seems it’s easy to bypass the system and for me, totally unacceptable. I presume that three people who were older or vulnerable have been made to wait longer due to their actions. How many others I wonder?

It’s not that easy. They’ve clamped down on it now and are asking for proof that they’re carers. A lady in front of me was asked for proof at the WG

I know of a large car dealership who’s staff got an email encouraging them to book a vaccine. All they had to do was book the appointment through a specific name and link which they were given in the email and they were in - their partners were also encouraged to do so too.

I'm more concerned with the no shows that is happening at vaccine centres the Winter Gardens(according to someone in charge) had 40% one day which is a disgrace.
That’s shocking, is it due to concerns over vaccine safety, or just booked and can’t be bothered I wonder.

Think the latter you only have to see how many pre covid who didn't turn up for doctors appointments.
Know someone involved in Thorntons roll out and every day folk are not turning up it's how he got jabbed in front of the queue with spares.

Not according to the nurse who vaccinated me, I’m 49 and my second jab is due in a few weeks. When I mentioned to her I felt a bit guilty she said nonsense, if she didn’t use up all of her vaccines for the day she would be in trouble. There were lots and lots of people of a similar age to me in the queue. I don’t see what the problem is. The over 50s are essentially vaccinated, who is really missing out.

Not all over 50's are fully vaccinated.

I'm 57 and still got nearly a month before my 2nd jab and suffering a life threatening illness, which if I catch this bloody virus will probably kill me.

The roll out in some areas has been poor, I had to sort my 1st jab out myself because the local authority hadn't been in touch.

They did phone me several days after I'd had it telling me I was eligible 🤨

I'm 73 and my wife is 72, we have had our first jabs but are still awaiting a call to attend for our second.

My daughter who is 45 is a working single mum, nearly died in 2010 due to complications with Pneumonia, pleural effusions, and empyema, and has a son who currently requires 24-hour care, has not, as yet, had her first jab.

Exactly my point, your daughter should absolutely not be affected by people cheating.

Not sure what the situation is like where you are CM, but my sister was in a similar situation to your daughter (similar age too) and it just required a phone call to local GP and a quick online form to get her vaccine sorted.

Its defo worth doing if there are genuine reasons as I’m not sure they pick up every priority case👍

Your fully protected 2-3 weeks after the first jab the second jab is for longevity 👍

Don't wait get on line and book it. Mrs Insider is having her 2nd jab tomorrow 10 weeks after the first.
I'm having a pneumonia jab today. It's funny because my Mum always told me to put my coat on when it was cold to stop me catching pneumonia and she's been proved right so far. 👍 😉

Everyone in the older age or vulnerable brackets should have already been contacted directly by the NHS and should have had at least their first vaccination, unless they have chosen not to. Anyone who tries to exploit any gaps in the system are jerks, but I don't think this is widespread or has delayed those that should have been getting the jab. I see the statistics for my county on a weekly basis and the 'carers' category are a relatively small proportion of those who have have been vaccinated and the vast majority of those carers are legitimate

I am 57 not even got a date for my second jab.

I mentioned weeks ago about people I knew getting appointments - 40's , no health conditions, same surgery as me. It's been widespread.

There seems to be plenty of spares knocking around what with 20% of care home staff still not having taken it and a high percentage of the BAME community seemingly concerned about taking it
I've heard of plenty under 50 ( even under 30 ) who have had it
If there were huge queues or vaccine shortages I would share the angst but there isn't - if anything there is an over-supply and costly resources under-utilised because not everyone eligible is taking up the appointments offered to them
Personally I can't comprehend why you wouldn't have it
If a few queue jump as a result to mop up the spares I can live with that

I don’t see a problem with it. At least they are having the jab. I spoke to someone who point blank is refusing the jab for no other reason than they do not want it.
I thought there was plenty of vaccines to go round anyway?

I booked my mum in at Dartford Football Club for hers (she is 87 and has dementia/Alzheimer’s) but when I went to pick her up to take her there she refused to leave the house. There was no way to cancel it online so she was just a DNA unfortunately.

What happens if the 12 weeks elapses between your 1st and 2nd jab?
Do you just show up at the place you had your first one with your card?

If you haven’t received an appointment, I’d be chasing it up through your GP at week 11.

To vaccinate based purely on age was always up for debate. Everyone’s circumstances are different. It’s not worth getting worked up about individual cases. Everyone will be vaccinated at some point soon.

A fit and healthy 60 year old would have a better chance of surviving covid than a 25 year old obese, burger loving cliché.

You can go on the Gov.uk site follow the process with your NHS number and you should be able to book your 2nd jab.
