Loyalist Riots

Yes I did - there were more flags than at a Nazi Party rally in the 30’s - Chilling
You where prob over visiting over July when it's the 12th of July as with all the union jacks flying from the lampposts and houses & I don't see why people like yourself get chilling when you see union jacks flying , Beautiful site in northern Ireland when you see in some loyalist towns and villages with there union flags out for the 12th of July 🇬🇧

And I assume it is the same in the Republican towns & villages which you equally enjoy ?

Well it’s obviously bothering Lytham to such an extent that his head is about to explode so here’s my views.

By the way I've been absent from replying to this thread as I’ve been rather busy last few days staining my decking/fencing.

But you can read across my views to ALL rioters who cause trouble and clash with the Police.

Now then I hope that makes you happy so go let some steam off.

Ps
I’ve still yet to see CAT condemn the Bristol riots so there’s your next essay up for debate.
Not that busy

That does really depend on what religion you are.

I have been there many times and normally it’s fine but then you go to certain places and it feels very uncomfortable - e g my last visit to Larne - more red, white and blue than you could imagine a very unwelcoming place for liberal minded or certain religions - as intimidating as you can imagine without a word being said or a stop being necessary
Yes I’ve been to Larne and all along that coast and it is a Loyalist stronghold.

It’s not so much the Unionist flags which are very prevalent in NI.

And not even the red hand no surrender flags, which are obviously very sectarian.

It was the UVF flags proudly displayed that surprised me. The UVF being a terrorist organisation responsible for the murder of many innocent people.

Just ignore him mate he's just having a dig at the loyalists he knows what he's doing.

According to this thread not only do we have good and bad rioters, we also have driverless buses in Northern Ireland. That was lucky given the firebombed bus was moving at the time.

What amazes me is that in 2021 we are talking about ‘Loyalists’ and ‘Republicans’

The land that time forgot!!

Oh that and the fact that any of these fuckers claim to be remotely Christian... They’re the antithesis of Christianity..

Most normal folk have moved on, however the religious / sectarian crackpots clearly still exist. The problem you have in NI is that sectarianism is also wrapped up in organised crime on both sides of the ‘divide’ and these criminals have a vested interest.

Religion is just an excuse really... None of these people could be classed as genuine Christians really... That’s the biggest joke of it all.. If anything you class them all as Antichrist 😂

In our lifetime, religion is just an identifier that distinguishes who the enemy is.
No one was killing each other because they didn’t like the way the others were worshipping the same God.
I honestly think that the vast, vast majority really aren’t arsed enough about a United Ireland to warrant indiscriminate murder, either.
Unfortunately, the wounds of decades of sectarian violence are still raw, and whilst you’ve got small groups (on both sides) of people who have plenty to gain (financially, criminally, political power, fear/respect/standing in the community) by continuously stirring up the hatred, they’re going to keep on peeling the scab off.

Beat me to it, whilst typing, x3

I took it to mean that firebombing buses is OK if they're in a depot with no driver. I'm off to our local bus terminus for a bit of harmless fun.

When they are regularly murdering and maiming one another for sectarian reasons I think religion may come into it a little bit.
I don’t doubt that for one minute but when you are on a fishing holiday getting murdered because you maybe a Protestant or a Catholic doesn’t even come in to it.

I don't think it is actually about you though, is it? I'm glad you had some nice holidays, but that isn't really relevant.

Apparently they hijacked a bus with no-one on it which seems a bit pointless unless they were making an updated version of 'Summer Holiday'. Cliff would be proud.

You sound like another one who has an axe to grind here?
Of course it’s not about me did I say it was? I’am saying it’s a lovely place to visit and the people are very friendly disagree by all means but it’s not all about rioting and murdering far worse places in the world trust me.

It’s hard not to come to the conclusion that people get the politicians they deserve when they have consistently voted for extremist parties. The more moderate and conciliatory the voice, the less it gets listened to and voted for.

And you end up with a First Minister who thinks it’s perfectly OK to talk about “our people” when she is discussing the rioting.
"No more services for a week or two".

And a deputy First Minister who thinks it’s OK for republicans to gather in large numbers for a funeral in the middle of the pandemic whilst everyone else is subject to stringent rules.

Extremist politicians voted in by “their people”

A foreign country, no one in England gives a toss about the place after centuries of endless aggro its about time the Irish sorted their own carp out and should be left to their own devices
They do have some good fishing over there, but not sure what that's got to do with the OP?

I'm just saying you view everything through your own personal experience. There's a big problem over there, but it doesn't affect your holiday so let's down play it.

This isnt about religion or having a relation over there to understand whats going on....it's power
Power to control NI and showing who (or which group) controls drugs, guns, jobs, grants

You have a show of force with your gang....we have a show of force with ours.....It's no longer Protestant V Catholic...99% don't give a f##k
But you make £5m out of VAT fraud or smuggling.....you show your force.....and THATS what's at stake....not who believes in head of the religion...

Indeed; I agree with both points.

And as a generalisation, the people who identify themselves as part of a subgroup in order to vilify those outside of the group, are the least likely you would want to spend any meaningful time with.

You only need to look on here at the posters who erroneously "label" others in an attempt to categorise individual posters into a identifiable enemy grouping - usually under the catch all term of "the usual suspects".

"Us and them" - `twas ever thus.

Best avoided in real life...

The bus was empty. Driver and passengers had already got off. There’s other footage showing a couple of lads pissing about in the cockpit before releasing the handbrake.
I’m not defending what they did, but best not to exaggerate what happened.

I'd second Jaffas comments about his experience as a visitor. Every time I've been whether through work or for a holiday, everyone I met were lovely people who couldn't do enough for you. I never felt uneasy anywhere.

So the general message seems to be that hijacking a bus and throwing petrol bombs is high jinks by bored teenagers and should be dismissed with a wag of a finger but sitting down peacefully in the middle of a road needs the army to go in with all guns blazing and any survivors locked up for years.
Have I got the views of our right wing contributors about right?

I think that's about right Cat. You forgot that anything is OK as long as they are miming playing a flute at the same time, LOL.

Northern Ireland isnt a foreign country its part of the U.K and plenty of people who live there are Proud to be British, The Attacks in the past lot of nites has got nothing to do with Brexit as the Loyalist community has been fed up with Sinn fein (ira) scum who think they can do what they like and everything gets swept under the carpet , Breaking Covid Rules as Hundreds attending ira funerals and nothing being done ,
What are these inbreds actually Loyal too
