Embleton likely to be recalled

The thing I don't get is that how would Embleton even be able to "spy" on Sunderland if we were matched up against them in the Semi-Final??

He's not trained with them since January and only played for Johnson in a handful of games. He wouldn't possibly have access to any information that Critchley wouldn't already have.

To do this would just be out of spite.

I expected this tbh. With Keshi and Stewart coming back we should be in a position not to have to rely on him so much and I'd be starting Dimi ahead of him anyway.

I would think we should be more worried about him spying, I wonder if he threw his old team mates a bum steer on our formation for the last game and they are throwing the toys out of the prom.

I think what he is saying is that Embo can't for them again for them this season, but he could play in the final with us if we got there. So the player may have a preference for Blackpool beating Sunderland in play offs.
Even if he did he can’t play therefore can’t influence the game so not a reason to recall him. Surely he’s got more information on us than the other way round.

Yep. Loans end at the end of a normal season. Most loans are from different divisions so no issue with extending. Sunderland hardly likely to want to help us win the playoffs are they?

Joe Hart didn't stay for the playoffs in 2007...maybe he didn't fancy shortening his summer holidays by 3 weeks.
Seamus Coleman stayed with us in 2010 and probably ended up with one of the most memorable days of his career.

I thought Joe Hart was an emergency loan as we pulled a fast one over Lewis Edge being injured after the Tranmere game.

EE's loan is up to 31/5. Sunderland had 27/4 pencilled in as their automatic promotion night. Makes sense from their POV that they'll look for any advantage now. I get the feeling the loan is to see if we want to buy.

Still trying to work out the logic of saying this from Sunderland's point of view. If we beat Sunderland in the semi's (without Embleton being able to play), why would they deny the lad and their player the chance of playing a Play Off final at Wembley? After all, they might need him and his experience of such a final the following season (assuming they took up his option).

If we were to play a different side in the semi's and met Sunderland in the final, he wouldn't be able to play in that game anyway so we would potentially be weakened.

None of it makes sense unless he did something to annoy them - didn't reveal our tactics in recent games or has made it clear he doesn't want to stay at Sunderland in future.

I thought that too. The only reason why would be, they don’t want us in the final.

Doing that will just reveal them to be a big bunch of shithouses. Biggest team in the league apparently yet need to live in fear of little ol' Blackpool recalling their midfielder who was surplus to requirements in January.

Hope they do it, and I hope we get them in the final and beat 'em anyway. Poetry.

Hopefully if we're fortunate enough to be in with a chance they'll sack Lee Johnson and appoint Billy Davies next week for old times sake.

Calling him a Spy isa slur on his professionalism - he’s not our player at the end of the day but he may still yet have a moment or two to savour 👍😎⚽
Critchley joked about locking away Embleton before the first game. Having an end to the season that involves each other probably wasn't something that was thought of by either side when they wanted to put him in the shop window in January and we needed injury cover.

Reminds me a bit of DJ Campbell and Leicester in 2010. Albeit I'd rather have a DJ.

They seriously underestimated us when they loaned him to us but hindsight is a wonderful thing and there’s no way he can stay with us for the playoffs. You wouldn’t help a rival get promotion at your expense given a choice.
Embleton is probably a much better player after NCs tutorage so they'll want him back soon.
Might as well let him go, unless we don't play Sunderland in the 1st legs.
Keep him then and, with luck, Sunderland will lose the first legs.

When they loaned him to us they didn't think we'd be their "rivals". We were closer to relegation than the playoffs. We've shown title winning form since then.

Time to go forward without Embleton now. He's played a big part in getting us to where we are and I'm thankful for that but we can't be relying on him now if Sunderland play their ace card.

Think we might be doing just that, Critch said when Kaikai felt his hamstring in the warm up he brought Embleton in to replace him. So his intention was to have him on the bench.

I wonder if they'd let us play him in a semi-final if we aren't playing Sunderland - an presumably if we didn't face them in the final, they wouldn't really care less?

It was a bizarre decision by them loaning us a player given we are promotion rivals

Unless of course they thought we were shit and Embleton would help us take points from other teams

I don't really rate him anyway so for me he can go back tomorrow

He’s our player until the next transfer window opens on June 9. No debate, no discussion. EFL Rule 55.1.2

I think it is odd that a player can be loaned to another club in the same division, there should be a rule change, a player can only be loaned to a team competing in a different division.

Why have that stipulation if both clubs and the player agree to the loan? The loaning club might want to sell the player and want him showcased to get a better fee or to get him fit with similarly competitive football f he has been subject to a long term injury. And the loaning club get wages or a fee paid and have protections in that the player can't play against them. The club taking the loan player know that from the start. I have no problems with the existing system

Just doesn't seem right to me, loan him to league 2 or sell him to league 1, I'm sure the rules won't change but it just distorts the competition.
