So it’s likely to be Lincoln, unless Blackpool...
fail to win their last game and we win! Happy? or would you prefer Portsmouth?

Good readDon't let half a dozen daft comments represent our fan base. Most know we are now a L1 team with L1 players. People posting like this, probably on most fan sites, are more than likely the same ones who have watched about 3 games all season and maybe a few episodes of Quest.
The majority of Sunderland supporters have adopted gallows humour for a long time now. Perhaps the most amusing was on a podcast about how even Coventry, without a ground and in constant financial turmoil, could get out of this league. Closely followed by Luton's success after near bankruptcy and a stint in the Conference before two successive promotions, when we failed yet again. It is our destiny to contribute to the madness that is League one football.
There's no doubt we are sick of it, but most of the other clubs still see us as a scalp or a cup final. This may have added to our woes. Most SAFC fans had embraced the situation and respected it. Can't say we have always been met with welcoming arms though. Both Pompey and Coventry decided we were their new derby match !? We are basically a new football club, like yoursleves, after a total financial meltdown. Some just can't accept it, which I guess is half understandable.
Jesus the one fan who acknowledges that Sunderland are what they are still thinks they are the big scalp, a cup final etc. To me they are another League 1 team that I want my team to beat.Don't let half a dozen daft comments represent our fan base. TrueThere's been far worse stuff posted on here this season tbh. Seriously!
If you read it closer, it says most other clubs think we are some kind of cup final or scalp. They at least enjoy playing at the SOL or visiting as fans . So in effect, we don't see ourselves as a scalp, but some others do. That can't be helped. There is definitely a narrative from some that we are somehow arrogant or entitled to play in a higher league. Ofcourse we have a percentage who will be like that, as plenty of other clubs do too.Jesus the one fan who acknowledges that Sunderland are what they are still thinks they are the big scalp, a cup final etc. To me they are another League 1 team that I want my team to beat.
I know where you’re coming from but “better defence”? They have conceded fewer than us and lost fewer matches. On the other hand, it’s a different story once we put our season on the front boiler! It looks like half the posts are stolen from our site and the rest are deluded
I liked the comment about Bristol R not being able to beat an egg let alone us
Well Mackem boys, we’ve lost 2 in 20, have a better defence than you, won more matches than you and just beaten you the twice !
keep respecting the teams in your Division
I think that’s totally fair.Don't let half a dozen daft comments represent our fan base. Most know we are now a L1 team with L1 players. It's a pleasure having you on here, your informed views are appreciated by most of us. Good luck in the playoffs' , but hopefully not at our expense !!!!!!!!If you read it closer, it says most other clubs think we are some kind of cup final or scalp. They'll be shocked when we play well and beat them even more. Didn't even get out of first gear and we beat them."I know Blackpool beat us twice, but they're still shite"

He's just watched the last two/three games hasn't he?My major concern is that Simon Sadler will likely be at the Play Off games and his record watching us live isn't great - he's obviously a jinx and should stay away
Sorry to be pedantic Stony - we have conceded 4 less than Sunderland (us 37, them 41) - we have the same number of goals conceded as HullI know where you’re coming from but “better defence”? Yes, you’ve caught me out on goals conceded. I have them the wrong way round. However, they have only lost 9 games and us 12. Call it a draw, eh?Sorry to be pedantic Stony - we have conceded 4 less than Sunderland (us 37, them 41) - we have the same number of goals conceded as Hull
which means I was right in saying g o ur defence today is better than theirs
But they are on Netflix telling us all how good they areThey’re an odd lot. You’d think after 2 seasons it would sink in that they’re actually at this level based on merit. It took Portsmouth a few years to work it out too. Hopefully Lincoln, Portsmouth or us give them another reality check in the semi’s.
Not just Sunderland - Ipswich, Portsmouth and Charlton ... and next season either the Wendies and the Rams (or both!).I love how they think they are better than this league.
Don’t forget, we once beat the biggest club in the world 4 times in one season and lifted a trophy! As I read down the Sunderland posts I noticed that, as far as I got, none of them mentioned that Pool had beaten them 1-0 on both league meetings.
We all know you beat us home and away but let's be fair it was fine margins, enough for either side to feel confident in a playoff situation. To me the 4 teams in there will be pretty equal, no standout team.As I read down the Sunderland posts I noticed that, as far as I got, none of them mentioned that Pool had beaten them 1-0 on both league meetings.
I agree, I spoke with a Mackem pal of mine and both agreed that there wasn’t much between us both. Fine margins indeed. I think the expectation element is always too high from your lot whereas I don’t think as a fan group we expect to win very often. But the confidence on this board is down to the incredible journey we have been on even before our home grown saviour pulled us out of the shit and reignited our passion for the club. Best of luck.We all know you beat us home and away but let's be fair it was fine margins, enough for either side to feel confident in a playoff situation. Vast majority of us know we're not very good either, if anything I'd say there is more confidence on your forum than ours.
When we played Sunderland on both occasions we had 8/9 first team players out of the squad with injuries etcI agree, I spoke with a Mackem pal of mine and both agreed that there wasn’t much between us both. We did indeed, I’m sure Sunderland weren’t at full strength or in particular good form At the time. Fine margins, there were moments especially at their place when we could of lost the game but we didn’t. Sometimes luck smiles on you. When we played Sunderland on both occasions we had 8/9 first team players out of the squad with injuries etc

Looks very much like 2010 when we beat Forest 4 times and they still thought they were the better side."Lincoln are the best side in play offs. They have been up there all season and our last two games were 1.1 draws and close games. I know Blackpool beat us twice recently but I think they are pretty shite"
I've never seen fans of a team that's so woefully limited but still confident they can beat us. They have a couple of good players but play like headless chickens.

I don't think our expectations are unrealistic, it's taken crazy mismanagement for us to reach a historic low of 3 seasons at this level. We've never spent more than 6 outside the top flight! Although I think that record will go in about 2 seasons time.I agree, I spoke with a Mackem pal of mine and both agreed that there wasn’t much between us both. Fine margins indeed.
