An interesting point...

That Shayne Lavery and Josh Bowler both mentioned the club being interested in them before the Playoffs even started.

Critchley and Mansford mentioned that there would be two lists of players; one for if we stayed in League 1 and one for if we went up to the Champ (with some players on both).

If Lavery and Bowler were both being targeted before our promotion was even confirmed that indicates that we were in for them regardless of what league we'd be in.

Which leads me to believe that our biggest signings are certainly ahead of us.

We have a lot to look forward to, the big signings that solidify us as a Championship team will come! UTMP!

I like what you're saying! 👍 It could be they 'knew' we'd be in the Championship having seen the positivity on AVFTT.😆

We've made some great signings already, but if our biggest signings are ahead of us the tangerine future is very bright indeed!

Apart from Reece James the other 3 players appear to be squad players , one's with potential we can improve.

I agree, i think we could be pleasantly surprised with the signings that are still to come 👍

Suspect both Bowler and Lavery were seen as high-upside players who might have played a bit more early on in L1 than the Championship. Likely the same is true of the City keeper and the potential Leeds centre half. On the other hand, James made it clear he wouldn’t leave Donny to stay in L1. Going to be interesting to see how the next couple of weeks pan out. Twenty days to the first pre-season friendly!

They had two lists based on the result. It wouldn’t be far fetched to imagine they’d contacted all the players on both.

That said, I like your optimism and I hope you’re right!

Definitely didn't contact all players on both lists, but think there were probably a few like Bowler and Lavery who they were confident of getting regardless of what league we were in who we've been in contact with for weeks now.

Reece James was undoubtedly on the Championship list, but I suspect there are a handful of other players who we're just now getting into contact with due to our Championship status.

Think we'll see those players announced closer to early July.

The better players tend to have more choices so are likely to be signed a bit later. I cannot see us paying significant transfer fees though. So it will be younger players with potential to develop (like Casey) as signings or loans from the PL. Most will probably be not on our radar at all. And we still need to sell or loan some of the fringe players out

The loan market should be interesting.
For me, in the Championship, that is often key to survival. For one thing I don't think that many clubs in that league fully utilise the loan market but also generally the U23's who go out on loan from Prem clubs are a bit raw and excel in Leagues One and Two but maybe struggle in the Championship. Obviously Simms and Ballard would be the two which would make me confident of a decent season.
