1966, I’m speaking more about the kind of underlying deep rooted unconscious presumed superiority.
It’s in built, because society has ingrained it into us… So much so that it’s been an accepted norm for both parties…
I get it… people aren’t adopting an intended ideological stance, but I think it just goes to show how endemic this is…
Do I think JJ is a white supremacist? No that would be ridiculous….Though I do think the presumption that we might “have a better idea about how to challenge these issues and here’s a black person who agrees with us to prove it” is a part of that in built and presumed ‘supremacy’.
So we have this situation where it’s not an issue unless we make it an issue, but failure no to address the issue we go on accepting a situation which we know is fundamentally wrong….Where society, has literally thousands of small and seemingly insignificant biases both race and gender related.
When anyone challehesresults in the typical response…. “I thought everything was fine and racism was solved, so why are you bringing up silly things like plasters and skin disease…. It’s all a bit unnecessary and divisive”
So where do we go?
“Yes, you can have your rights, but it’s got to be on our terms”
