Confirmed that Simms is going to be out until mid September and I would presume a recovery program to match fitness. Looks like he won't be playing any football for anyone until October at the earliest which will mean he isn't going to get a Loan move this side of the January window.

Best case scenario for him maybe to make a permanent move to us, done on the last day of the Transfer window or an agreed deal to start in January on a permanent deal. If SS has an opportunity to sign the lad I'm sure he will be all over it. He is still the one player I really hope we sign and it will really show our intentions.

I think back playing by then back in training 2/3 weeks

Far better to be playing competitive games than strolling around Finch Farm .. btw .. is this the same injury which kept him out of the Play Off final. Weird isn't it how he pulled up with the last kick of training and it's lead to him being out for 4 months.

Yup, same injury, a real shame for him and us really. Although JJpool will tell us that it's dark forces at work!! I have heard there is a curse on the team and there has been sightings of a strange figure in the ground of someone in a gimp mask and a slazenger bag across their chest, a chest with man boobs!!

I actually think we have some good strikers now, Yates obviously, Madine of course but we have Lavery now who looks fast and exciting and we have JJ now too who comes highly regarded by Arsenal and is going to be an important player for us. Still really hope we sign Simms outright, that would be such a stellar signing and a Yates/Simms partnership would be one of the best in the Championship and with huge back up too. The signing of JJ does put a doubt on anything happening though.

We don't need to rush for Simms though as he is injured anyway but we really do need a right back and a creative midfielder, although I really do think Carey can make this position his own and it was no surprise we were much better when he and Stewart came on yesterday. However a really good loan signing for the creative role would be very welcome.

Blackpool plan to revive their interest in Ellis Simms in January. The striker is out until mid September after picking up a groin injury at the end of last season. Everton are in talks with Simm’s agent over a new contract.

If Everton think he is stalling on contract, they may sell him at the end of the window, as I think he is allowed to talk to other clubs anyway in Jan.

I'd love to see him back but not sure how the loan signing of the Arsenal lad will affect the decision makers.
It looks like Everton would only sanction a move back here for him if he signs a new contract.
If he doesn't and they decide to cash in there will be other clubs looking to sign him.

It reads that we want to sign him Fromm them from January on loan and then to continue it the following season, that would mean a season and a half, that would be excellent business.

Put an offer in for him last day of the window if he has not signed a new contract. He would be available to talk to any interested parties Jan.
He is a good fit at Blackpool, he knows it, Everton know it, we know it and Critch knows it

If the lad would be willing to commit to us on a permanent basis and we could offer an attractive package - would love him to turn down the deal at Everton and force a sale. This is exactly the sort of player we need - his value in the Championship could soar if he continues to develop as he did last season. Got a good feeling about this one .

If he doesn't sign a new contract they would put him up for sale and I am sure there would be interest from elsewhere as well. In those circumstances he would want to see what different offers were on the table. I think that it is more likely he will sign a new, improved contract and go out on loan

Signing a player injured/recovering from an operation wouldn't be so simple, I'm guessing insurance would be a huge stumbling block for both club and player. A 3 year deal on £10K per week plus £500K transfer fee is a £2M risk.

Simon needs to give call a ring to ask him about the dark arts of transfer dealings.

If he does not believe he will break into Everton squad soon then there is no benefit to him of signing a new contract as he would get at least same financially in the Championship and more importantly game time.
The offer of a new contract is simply to boost his value when he gets sold IMO. If he sees it that way then I think he may get sold this window, as he is expected to be fit mid Sept so available to be playing early Oct at the latest

If you put yourself in Simms' boots you have to be thinking what's best, aim for the Everton first team, sign a new deal and go out on loan, or push for a move to a Championship club? Either way, it's a season in the Championship. I'm sure Everton can afford to pay him more than we can, if they wish. And other clubs in the Championship can too. That's the problem. Hopefully he believes Critch is the person who can get him furthest down the road to the future he wants.
