So do you have one ?

Everyone seems to these days. My sister, daughter, son-in law and many friends.
I thought they were just for w*nkers once upon a time, but now I’m considering one when I get some wheels again next month.

Am I a w*anker too now or are they wholly acceptable and the norm these days 🤔?
 
I honestly don't see point in them... more money than sense if you ask me.. having said that I'm not a car person at all (been driving since 92 and had 4 cars.. which says it all)

Thing is they probably don’t depreciate if it’s not something hideously topical. So an investment rather than a purchase.
Mine’s a pretty standard name one that I can get for 200 plus fees 🥳
Maybe I’m selling my soul and in denial about it 🤦‍♀️

I got mine 26 years ago, so I've been a wanker for less than half my life.

They do smack a bit of, ' Hmm what could I spend my spare cash on that I absolutely don't need and that serves no useful purpose whatsoever? Ahh, I know I'll get me a kudos grabbing, totally pointless ego boosting private number plate'
What other pointless things have people here squandered their hard earnt moolah on? I did recently invest in a neck hammock although, in my defence, I do have a creaky neck so if the hammock works then it moves out of the pointless purchase category

Touché. That said there's nowt daft about a Tilley hat. Lifetime guarentee. I wore out my first one and got it replaced with a brand new un! Even better because someone had given it to me because they thought it looked daft! ( I made the last statement up BITF Because I wanted you to feel even better about yourself. That's the kind of benevolent, generous guy I am 😁)
 
Inflated egos perhaps? Not for me but everyone to their own.It`s up to you Lala but we don`t have to be sheep and do things just because others do them. You don`t come across like that at all,aren`t there better things for you spend your hard earned cash on? Or donate to a worthy charity perhaps, then you might book your place in heaven.
 
Back in the late eighties my ( then) boss had MMM7 and MMM8...one on his Aston Martin the other on a BMW...censorship rules forbid me for calling him what he was and probably still is but if you attend the Bridgewater Hall you might well see who he is.

Lala probably has the answer...though my better half refers to him as the Cabinet Man ( and yes there is a story behind that...and no it isn’t Crude)
 
I don't drive. Most of my family do. None of them have one though. If it makes you happy, Then go ahead with it. There are a lot more worse things that you could spend your money on.
 
Obviously with my user name it should be obvious..... I live in Cambridge! 🤣 🤣 🤣 Used to live in Watford in the 80's/90's that's the closest I've lived to St Albans. Haven't been there for 10 years but it's got some great pubs. Do you stay in St Albans during the week?

Live in Barnet , work at the posh school next to the Abbey during the week .

Not really interested but there is a car in my area which is comprised precisely of my 3 initials, mine and Mrs Insider's year of birth, and then Mrs Insider's 2 initials.

No,I think you have to positively do something that`s influenced by the actions not inactivity of others to be a sheep.In this case I choose not to as explained above. Otherwise you would be a sheep millions of times over for all the millions of things you don`t do in your life

I think Lala`s first thought is spot on.

I don’t think it’s a ego for me, though you’ve definitely made me think about my reasons.
First though we definitely all have an ego , however big or small and however we display it.

For me though I genuinely think after quite a few years of difficulties I just want to have fun times, acknowledge fun, and return to being fun.
I’ve taken life seriously serious for a good few years, because I had to.

I don’t want to for a while now, I want to be light hearted, open minded, fun, and happy, because that’s how I’m feeling.
If I’m denied a place in heaven because of that what does that say about heaven and it’s entry requirements 😳
 
I’ve got one with my initials. I paid for it by selling a lot of collectors items on eBay which were in a box in the loft and serving no use at all. At least my number plates are legal unlike many I see which try to make up a name by changing the spacing. Now these are very sad people!

All I see when I see a personalised plate is "I could have given this money to charity but chose to be a selfish **** instead".

If you're happy with wasting money on looking like you have money to waste/burn then go for it I say.
 
If that's what you want Lala, just do it.
As long as it's not one of those daft convoluted ones, like sticking RA11GYE on a Range Rover.

Personally, I prefer the idea of an old Blackpool plate.
It'd mean I'd never have to drive around with a PA, PB etc plate and suffer the social embarrassment of people thinking I might be from Pr*st*n.
