Covid Passports for football matches

It didn’t prevent me from catching it at Wembley Euro final even though double jabbed.
They checked my NHS app but there are ways of cheating the system.

Of course there were many without tickets in the area and some gate crashes!

A vaccine dosent prevent you from catching it, it should hopefully prevent you getting seriously ill though.

I live in a country where vaccine passports get you into bars, restaurants etc.

All electronic of course and on your smart phone or free government ‘token’ (like a key ring) - the token is for if you don’t have a smart phone or do not want to use it.

You can of course have a supervised test within the last 24h as well.

Not saying it’s perfect, but think it works well 👍

I accept that will probably annoy a few - but hey ho!!!

Honestly dont give a fuck anymore. They can do what they like. The EFL are obviously going to get a sweetener from the government to nod it through. What will the clubs do? They know its not realistic to implement and they will also know they are the ones who are opening themselves up to claims of medical discrimination whilst the government pass it onto them. Id like to think they would get together as clubs and fight against this.

Hey if I never get back in so be it,its been an enjoyable 31 years.Im sure most of you will take great pleasure in knowing myself and others with the same stance wont get back into Bloomfield Road again.

Im lucky I have other sports I follow just as much as football but for others this will be torture.

I wonder what will happen with those season ticket holders who dont wish to take this medical procedure. They have already paid.

I’m already expecting us to be back in some sort of lockdown come November anyway. No fans, family back in a bubble, no cash at the bar, Xmas dinners cancelled across the country. The passport will just be the beginning of the winter lockdown.

So will players who have not been double vaxed (and it appears to be quite a number) be able to play without a covid passport?
It looks like a long and depressing winter with more and more "rules" slipped through. This will not end well.

Oh aye, this is literally the first time you need some kind of ID to do something since then.
I can honestly say I don’t remember having to show anybody some form of health check on my phone or otherwise to attend a nightclub or a sporting event. If you have what was it and when ?

I can vaguely see the point for indoor events but not for outdoor events. Even moreso when football and other outdoor events have been operating for a couple of months without restrictions

You inferred that having to prove something to do something in order to keep others safe was just like Nazi Germany. It is now potentially dangerous to society to go in to a nightclub without a Covid jab, there's not really any argument against that is there?

Back when I was a nipper I did have to show ID to prove I was over 18, which was just like Nazi Germany now I think about it, we should let kids drink.

I suppose you believe driving licences are just like the Gestapo?

Not really because you could’ve had a jab and go into a nightclub but be carrying the virus?

Passports are worthless.

The pandemic is that bad they have to bribe people to get a vaccine with the threat of not being able to do stuff.

If the pandemic was that bad you wouldn’t have to do that, it’s bizarre how people have forgotten the actual statistics on the virus, or choose to ignore it to build hysteria.

But having the vaccine is to protect those that need more protecting.

And there is no hysteria from 99% of the population who wanted the vaccine ASAP and will happily show their phone to show they are protected. Any hysterics are from those that don't want it and their bunkum conspiracy theories.

Are you suggesting the pandemic isn't that bad?

I don't suppose you know any bed managers at BVH who were working through the worst of it do you? It's just that I do.

Nope.

You're still 2/3rds less likely to catch the Delta variant when vaccinated. For other variants it was around 90%. It's not certain if the Delta is just because boosters might now be required or that it's more infectious.

You have literally written my thoughts and to add to that how about the rights of the vaccinated to be protected from anti-vaxxers in any environment.
Worldwide pandemics are a very rare occurrence and restrictions had to be put in place during the Spanish flu, so this is nothing new.

But they're not... if you haven't been double jabbed and are allowed to mingle with a large group of people (for example in the concourse at bloomfield road) then IF you catch covid you are at much greater risk of getting seriously ill. Or don't you believe that the vaccine or virus are real?

The expectation that complete strangers must medicate themselves, or completely alter their normal human behaviours to make you or or others 'feel safe' is immature and entitled.

And using the force of the state to try to mandate it is truly fascistic.

People need to chill out as nothing undermines the vaccine more than the people who’ve had the jab worrying about what the people who haven’t had the jab are doing.

I don’t know any bed managers but I know plenty of staff but that’s not really the point is it?

My point was if the ‘pandemic’ was as bad as made out and the virus was as bad as made out then you wouldn’t need to bribe people, there would be no doubts from anyone.

It makes me laugh on threads when people are talking about how bad they feel and the virus has knocked them for six whilst talking about what box series to watch on Netflix. I speak from someone who’s had it in early July from Euros.

I have no doubts this virus is horrible for many people, but for most of the population, they will be fine in a couple of weeks.

Passports do nothing to stop the spread of the virus.

No, it is the point, you suggested the pandemic was overblown, I'm wondering what hands on experience you have to the contrary?

You obviously don't realise that people being jabbed saves the NHS having to provide all sorts of care for the seriously ill from covid. Those resources could and would be better spent on curing people of all manner of illness if stubborn cunts just sucked up their own nazi-like personal agendas and just had the jab. At which point a jab passport isn't a big deal at all... unless ofc you're seeking attention.

That last analogy just sums you up. Ridiculous is the kindest word I can think of.

I do realise thanks. You ok? Weird how angry the vaxxed get.

I can’t see it solely because of how long it would take them to get the technology right to avoid massive queues at turnstiles. Some sort of automatic readers would be needed and that takes time and money to both develop and install at every ground.

Those who say it’s not necessary because we’re all outdoors are forgetting that we all have to go through concourses, or into bars, and then you have the situation of sitting shoulder to shoulder with others. Then there’s shouting, hugging and jumping up and down when we score.

There’s another thread on here from a seaside who was double vaccinated, yet caught it at Bloomfield Road.

It’s true though. People get sick, when you get sick you are going to feel like shite. That’s happened throughout life.

The virus is horrible for many predominately in older categories, for many it’s feel grim for a few days, lose your taste (which is the worst symptom of all) and then in a couple of weeks after the fatigue clears you’re back to normal.

The point is, showing your phone or passport doesn’t do anything to stop the above.

Tell me how it does?

Because being vaccinated reduces your chances of infection, you ignored that before.

And your little quip about posters on here watching TV while having Covid and it not being that serious, do you know what they all have in common? I'll give you a clue, begins with V.

So you visited the Covid wards at the turn of this year and have met with the nurses, doctors and managers?

Why do you think they were massively concerned?
I couldn’t get in the Covid wards 😂 no visitors.

Listen, I know you are passionate about the NHS and rightly so and I have no doubts that it was horrible for front-line staff at the beginning of the virus, I gave first-hand experience of what it was like. People seem to have a perception that i’m anti-vaccine or I’m a conspiracy theorist. I’m neither. I’m just looking at it logically.

I think overtime as the stats and data on age and more comes out that the reaction to this virus has been over the top. The propaganda and hysteria is off the charts.

Vaccine passports are not about health if they were, what’s been happening for the past 6 weeks when you’ve not had to show anything?
Surely that’s been reckless hasn’t it? If passports are going to protect and save lives?
