It’s not a joke - the council are NIMBY.

Whether it would cost your family a grand or not is irrelevant, as the government will not be paying that!!!

Ps just checked online and a double or twin averages about 45 quid a night, so no idea where you get a grand from.

The reviews are not great either 😳

A grand was a conservative price it was a lot more during summer holidays ie last week😉anyway as you say that is irrelevant andyour right the government won’t pay that but more my concern is who is staying there As of Friday
 
Imagine if you had fled some shithole like Eritrea, Sudan, Somalia, Iran etc and ended up bang in the middle of Blackpool illuminations, stag and then parties peppered with Spice zombies etc

There has to be an episode of Black Mirror in there somewhere

I haven’t seen any news report on these immigrants but I’m going off what was said in the post about them not being Afghans.
The lefty brigade are always banging on about our country doing minimal legal immigration. We know as a matter of fact that there’s record numbers of illegal migrant crossings happening this year. One day recently there was approx 800. We know that these are crossings from a safe country - France. We know the migrants pay huge amounts eg several thousand euros to the people smugglers. They’re not fleeing war, persecution, famine etc. They’re choosing to come illegally to the UK for economic reasons. In summary, they’re not Afghans, they’re statistically unlikely to be legal migrants according to the lefties, so they’re evidently just a small fraction of the many thousand of illegal immigrants who have been entering the country day after day after day. Where do you think they go? They have to be processed and put into suitable accommodation. There’s many thousands in hotels all across the country. It’s only getting worse. I’m not saying I agree or disagree with housing them in hotels. They’re coming in. They have to go somewhere. I think it is a problem that we are having such numbers of illegal immigrants. We aren’t in control of the situation.

There is no such thing as an illegal asylum seeker.
 
If you’ve got money, and choose to emigrate somewhere because it enhances your dream lifestyle, it’s perfectly ok.
If you have to sell everything you’ve got, to try to make it to a country that has a world famous reputation for giving everyone a fair chance, then your an unwanted dosser/potential terrorist.

I don't know what's worse staying in the Met or the Norbreck!
The illuminations & Blackpool in the sunshine will be a treat for the poor children, who have no say in where they live or how they are educated.
Spare tickets for a Pool home game (don't add to their misery by taking them to Dumpdale) will be a treat for the adults and you never know there may be a star player amongst the group.

The North West being used as this countries dumping ground yet again.

On the north west news the other night it was stating how many Afgans were being moved to the North West in comparison to other areas of the country and the numbers were hugely disproportionate.

In Blackpool over the years we've had councils prepared to take a bung to house problem tenants dis functional families etc time after time, no wonder this town is where it is.

And it isn't going to get any better anytime in the near future.

I do live here fella and I don't think the town centre is going to be any more dangerous, why would it be?

Rather asylum seekers than the UK dregs we've been importing for decades from other council areas because no one else will have them.

Ye I agree with your last two lines 👍🏻 But those dregs are generally out and about between 11 and late evening, my fear is the early hours 😯I hope you are right and I am wrong🙂
 
I suppose its better to house a large group under one roof until they get used to living in a strange town. Do some of you think a Taliban army is going to emerge from the Metropole,silly buggers.

I can't say I know the make up of the asylum seekers - or whatever they are to be called - who are being housed in the Metropole.

Unfortunately some cultures have less respect for women than others, this is something that the women of the great city of Cologne discovered when Germany welcomed in lots of refugees.

I think it's perfectly fair and reasonable for Thomson to express his concerns.

So - basically a company called the Mears group has a MULTI BILLION POUND contract to house asylum seekers in the north of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Due to COVID a lot of the big hotel chains have done deals to house asylum seekers. These are people who have been through the initial processing and are waiting on their application being accepted or refused. Accepted? - they legally head to London to start building a new life, refused? - they do a runner and head to London to start a new life!

The problem Mears have is due to covid again the application process is taking longer and they have time limits by which the applicants need to be moved out of hotels into private rented accommodation which they can't find. This means they're being hit with massive fines by the government for breaching their contract. in addition now covid has finished the hotel's want them out to get their properties back

The applicants themselves can't work and have nothing to do other than hang around waiting for their result.

Maybe you should read on and see things from a non-lefty perspective. You may not like it for some reason, but it’s a well established political spectrum across the world which ranges from left to right.
The ones on the far left would have open borders to anyone and everyone. The ones on the far right would have no immigration. But away from the polar opposite extremes, there are left wing views which I expect you probably hold if you’re turned off immediately at the mention of ‘lefties’. (Some people get very easily irked.)
My views are probably right of centre. But I’m not ashamed of that. The opposite of left is right by the way. Rather than showing annoyance at what you perceive to be name calling, you can choose to perhaps be more personally effective in a debate by stating your views rather than taking name calling further.
The ones on the left who are content with uncontrolled illegal immigration don’t bear any responsibility for the consequences. Yet they will moan when there’s not enough money for public services. With regards to immigrants landing en masse in our town centre, it may be all ok. But there’s also a risk. That risk stems from having folk of a completely different culture inserted into a largely Christian western civilisation. It isn’t beyond the wit of man to appreciate that there are potential concerns from young men who aren’t as well drilled into how to engage with young females. That’s just one example.
