They don’t want people to join their campaign. The campaign is one of the most successful ever. They want to raise awareness of the issue.

The Premier League has not been successful but Extinction Rebellion have.

But those people are definitely not going to be convinced by these protests, in fact, they’ll be more convinced they’re right.

Whoever is advising these people needs to get real, because they’re doing them and the issue a disservice.
 
I don't expect 10 miles of traffic jams on the M25 will do much to protect the planet. Extinction Rebellion's smashing of bank windows was pretty stupid but this action seems directly opposed to the aims of the group.
 
Hopefully today’s protest was the first of many similar types.

Excellent work and an added bonus that the right types are getting hot under the collar about it all…

Modern houses have so much insulation in them , loft, cavity wall, etc and modern sealed windows there great in the winter, but in the summer you can’t cool them down cause of it…amazing really as the sound insulation is terrible in modern houses…😁

But all they have done is create negativity towards them. They have done absolutely nothing to change my mind and have an in depth discussion with my friends and colleagues. So it’s back to football talk.

They’re not interested in whether or not someone feels negativity towards them. You lot all seem under some odd illusion that they are out their trying to make friends and recruit people…. they couldn’t give a shit about you and take great joy in disrupting your plastic / robotic lifestyles….

They’ve already had a massive impact in changing the landscape concerning climate change and attitudes towards it.

At the end of the day if you choose to be a mug and ignore the need to change your ways, then more fo you…. They’re not the idiot are they lol..

I very much doubt you would support them or do what they want. You can sit comfortable in your armchair and say what a great cause it is. But…..XR would end the banks and capitalism and have us living in tents with no science or modernity. These folk are hypocrites cos they’ll all have their gadgets and their cars and houses and will order a Mac Donald’s takeaway etc etc. I’d respect them if they gave up their phones but they won’t. The internet is the arguably the very biggest polluter in the world. The materials and energy required to keep internet traffic going is immense. The number of servers alone around the world is an incredible use of energy. The difference between me and XR and their groups is that I believe capitalism will help us find solutions. Investment in technology and science is the way to live a more sustainable life. Clearly it’s a worldwide issue and there’s huge challenges in getting cooperation. But that’s the way to go.
It’s pie in the sky to think the answer is going back to the dark ages. But if these protestors want to set an example then go ahead. Go live in a tent.

Wow! People on here are talking about it, problem solved then. Seriously though, whether you believe in climate change or not we're still poisoning the planet and everything on it including ourselves and the deniers of CC seem to think it's OK to carry on doing that.

And that is what was so brilliant about the '50s and '60s, Malced, completely devoid of all this technology etc, our social network was stepping out the door and calling for our mates. Everything seemed so clean back then compared to today unless you lived in one of the big industrial areas.
