STEVE AYRE

I had never heard of him before, he co - commentated our game V Middlesborough but whilst watching the game and listening to his comments, it was so obvious that he has a superb in depth footy knowledge he spent time coaching at Man City youth winning 5 league titles and youth FA Cups

he was spot on about our first half performance, and our deficiencies, and his criticism of our players (all to often you hear commentators making trite excuses for poor play, but offering nothing constructive)- he pinpointed exactly where we were going wrong, and what we needed to do to put things right it was nothing personal, just being honest warts and all

he was rooting for us, just as he was right about our second half performance, analysing just why we were so much better, and was well pleased with the result, it made me think that he would be a great addition for Critch's backroom staff, - and no before anyone asks I have never met the guy , Like the rest of us just want the best for Critch and the team.

Maybe spell his name right … Eyre!

I wonder if it’s time for one of the 2010 set. Someone who knows the club. Southern? GTF?

1. How do we know this before it's come out?
2. Steve is a really talented coach and well respected in the game. Why would you make a judgement on how he sounds
3. Obviously knows all about Grimshaw and a good link to Man City

Wasn't he on the Cods coaching staff at one time, when they had 110 on the club website?

It'll probably be someone Scottish who has a long track record at a high level as a player and a manager! Seems to be the person spec.

Gnashers (doing well at Everton Academy, with contacts and at a recent home game); Andy Preece (current number 2 at Chorley & has managed in Wales); or GTF (managed at Bangor & a short spell at Llandudno).
A former BFC goal scorer would be an asset.
However, one things for sure - Critch doesn't need my advice ;)

Weren't Calderwood and McCall brought in because of their experience of managing or coaching at this level? If replaced will NC be looking for someone similar?

It'll be somebody that compliments Critchley, not somebody that replicates him.
Somebody who brings different qualities and experiences, so probably a grizzled old jock with 500 games as a player and a few hundred as a manager.
Loads of them about, maybe it will be Mickey Mellon!!!

Not a bad shout that.

"Oooh Mr Critchley, you're looking very nice today, and the new Gilet is looking very smart.....Have you had your hair blow dryed Mr Critchley...?..."

Ollie

Critch might have got to the point where he feels he doesn't need two assistants now? We've already got Garrity here.

Sorry but no. He was driving me mad when commentating on us away at Boro. I had to mute him at half time
Yup - same for me. He came across as an arrogant nob trying to be clever and the expense of our players, notably Marv. If he was like that in a coaching role he'd soon put a few backs up.
