Those down the road have just got a new manager, who is bringing in an assistant manager. With Paul Gallagher already first team coach, it seems he is further down the list of importance. He also didn’t appear much on the touch line when we played them.

Is now the right time to bring him home and work with Critch as McCall’s replacement?

The amount of work he did under previous managers was unbelievable, and he is very well thought of by players from the past and those he works with. A no brainer for me and fits the profile of what is required.

100%

Bring him home.

No Tommo had his time and left!! Bring someone else new into the club, let's look forward not back!!!

Thommo fits Blackpool perfectly, the lads would love him, locally based with vast experience, get him back.

Incorrect, Thommo was invited to Koko's pad with Paul Ince and potted, he never left and he's a big a Pool fan as any man on this message board. I'm not sure what or who Critch is looking for, but he could do far worse than have a chat with Thommo.

They’ve appointed Mike Marsh as coach so Thommo’s days will be numbered. Not sure about having him back through.

I would prefer an assistant who played as a forward during their career, and is adept at teaching players to put the ball into the net on a more regular basis than is happening now.⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽

It's hard to judge the worth of an assistant because they are in the background all the time. It's a guessing game for outsiders in how much input they have and how good they are.
Thommo didn't set the world alight as caretaker for us and I was surprised when they overlooked his more senior role at pne and gave the caretakers job to Mcevoy when Alex Neil left. It wasn't a ringing endorsement.
I might be being unfair to him but just hanging around somewhere because it's local is not particularly ambitious and not really where we are at as a football club.

We've spoken to Thommo a couple of times when were shopping in Blackpool and he's a genuinely nice guy.
He was treated horrendously by the scum, and if Critch wanted him at the club, we'd be happy with that.
Having thought long & hard about this, our personal opinion is: Our heart says yes, but taking everything into account, our heads say no. We can do better and Critch needs a good man in to help correct the many current vulnerabilities;
Good luck to Thommo in finding his next job and we're sure he will be in demand in the NW.

As always I ask because I don't know, but did/does Thommo want a top job? You can't be overlooked if you don't want it to start with. I exclude the period he did with us, after Holloway's abrupt departure combined with someone's reluctance/inability at the time to look any further than they had to.

Assuming all parties are interested I'd be happy with it. His early time with us was a far more gung-ho approach, but later incarnations had the possession based philosophy we strive for now.

Kevin Phillips as assistant. Might as well give him a playing contract as well I bet he would still be able to bag a few😀

Only real success under Holloway, unless success is keeping clubs above relegation zone. Lets move on and get a new generation coach who is not stuck in his ways.

McAvoy was the assistant to Alex Neil, so not sure what senior role you refer to?

Thommo did a lot more at BFC than fans will know whilst working with Holloway. He also did a lot more when him and Tony Parkes we’re managing the club after Grayson left. I believe it was Thommo that got Charlie and DJ at the time but again, nobody would know that.

Loyalty is not something you see much in the game these days but that’s something Thommo shows. If you treat your employees well they stick around, and I think that’s the case at PNE. Yes it’s local but what does that matter?

If Thommo does exit PNE then it would be a nice fit with his experience and knowledge of the Championship. If I have one criticism of Critch it is that he tends to overthink things and makes too many unnecessary changes (the Birmingham game being a prime example). It may well have been the influence of Calderwood/McCall that maybe reigned that in? Who knows. Personally, I think it may be Gallagher who is squeezed out at Preston to make way for the Lowe/Marsh coaching duo.

I am not sure what his last 6 years experience, or however long he has been at the nobbers, would bring to the seaside, given their predictable dull tripe they have served up recently.

We need another forward thinker not a yesterdays man, however much he is a decent and well respected former coach.

Seem to recall Ferguson at Man U having a procession of first team coaches, to keep things from going stale - Suspect Critch has someone in mind.
