Someone not too happy.

Been making a whopper out of himself all night on Twitter.

Clearly wasn't around in transfer windows controlled by our previous resigm with a complete lack of strategy or infrastructure.

Perfect example of an Under 30 I want it all now football fan who's grown up with nothing but the PremierLeague.

Wow, he’s never stood in the old west stand in Division 4. Anyway why aren’t we signing Ramsey 😕

Why can’t people just be happy, bowler is staying till the summer at least and we shouldn’t have put all our eggs into the Brannagan basket but I say this window for us has been decent because we got rid of the deadwood but no this ungrateful git who thinks he is an extra from green street hooligans say that we should be getting more? Honestly some of our fans need to give their heads a good shake 🙄

I’m in my early 30s and I’ve never understood the “want everything now” brigade. Had a season ticket from 93 as a wee one and grew up through all the shit football in the 90s and was of the mentality that was what Blackpool FC was and I was still happy to go week in week out to see my team play. It was a dream when we got to the Championship in 07 and couldn’t even believe it when we made the Prem. Couldn’t be happier with what Sadler and the club as a whole are doing. It makes me immensely proud.

Ironically from what I’ve seen on this board is that a lot of older fans are exactly the same as the so called “fifa generation”. Impatience is unfortunately something in every day life in 2022 and it doesn’t bode well for the future.

I thought it was a joke at first but reading his other rants and reply’s guess not.unbelievable the mindset of some people when you consider where we were just a short time ago.the fact we’ve moved on the players that needed to be is also a plus for next season.

The bloke is right though

We have failed to get our top target in and have pished about with bids that didn't match his valuation

And we are weaker in midfield than when we started the season

Them the facts ...

The other way to look at it is that we didn't pay over our valuation for the player.

We are weaker in midfield currently due to the injuries.

Reality is we are probably not going to get in the playoffs or a relegation scrap, so the decision to wait makes sense for me.

Strengthen in the summer, and have a real go next year at getting to the playoffs if we can.

I know we can all dream and that, but our squad is good enough to end mid table in this division.

Words fail me they really do 😯 does he not realise our best players don’t just stay put for the fun of it when there’s massive pay days at other clubs dangling in front of them? Or that maybe we were prioritising keeping hold of them👍🏻 Who the hell was he so keen for us to sign anyway that makes it right for him to have a personal rant at people within the club?
Clowns like him don’t deserve a decent team to follow, the bloke in question has plenty of form though so no surprise 🙁

We needed to sign a central midfielder, no getting away from that. I do think our league position has probably affected how we’ve operated as we are not in a position that raises panic or the need to pay over what we want to.
We have Dougall, Connolly, Stewart and Robson now in centre midfield. The mad thing is, if we’d signed Robson from MK Dons on the back of his season so far people would be happy.

The main thing for me was to keep Josh Bowler & turning down 3 million is impressive on our part. I’m sure he’ll be off in the summer but that’s another 4 months for us to enjoy him. We’ll still get that figure I would think, even with 12 months left on his deal. It would be nice to give him an improved deal for longer to maximise his value but unfortunately for us I can’t see Bowler doing that as the less left on his contract the more power he has to get a move and set himself up financially.

We’ve also managed to offload Bez, Teddy Howe, Nuttall & Sarkic and then upgrade to Kirk from Mitchell and bring in Beesley, I would say its an alright window.

The key now is the summer. Time to plan and get our number 1 target. When Oxford don’t go up hopefully we’ll sort it. Pissing around on the last day of the deadline is a bit daft.

People are allowed to be pissed off we have gone backwards in this windows. It’s very small time from people to be that happy we have kept Bowler.

Superb player but no one would have been arsed a month ago.

At some point we need to get out of this proper small club mentality where you have to be happy we kept someone.

People want progress and you can do that in the January window.

We have progressed though. We’ve got rid of a load of shite. This now means we are primed for summer.

Brought in Beesley and Kirk, upgrades on Mitchell and nobody else.

Re: Bowler, anyone who understood football knew how good he was months ago, loads of threads to back this up. Those that didn’t look rather daft now we’re getting 3 million pound bids for him.

No doubts we needed a centre midfield, the Brannagan saga has been painful no doubt about it, but I think the Squad isn’t as top heavy now. I would call that progress.

Pressure is on in summer, as we need to kick on.

A professional window by a professionally run club.

We are now a normal club. We try to make sensible bids for players that the manager wants and won’t be held to ransom
We do not just give our players away and will not be held to ransom.

After decades of being a joke, we are now normal… and that’s a good thing!

As the sensible posters have said, we are mid table so no need to panic buy or gamble on promotion by spending beyond our means. Make longer term recruitment decisions this summer.

Our squad is better today than it was one month ago. That’s a good window for me

On the plus side though you were completely wrong in the transfer thread when you told us all we were a selling club who would let Bowler go for 1.5 million.

In reality, we’ve kept a highly rated player who was attracting bids from clubs pushing for the play offs/automatic and been knocked back for a player at a club in the league below who are pushing for the play offs.

One things I’d wonder, would Wintle cost any more than our valuation of Brannigan? Maybe wages are the difference?

I think those pissed off are in the minority and those not arsed about Bowler a month ago were also not arsed about Critchley either, and that was because we were on a run of bad form like most clubs have. We’re in a good league position to steady ourselves and push on next season with good signings over the summer. We now have a squad of 25+ players who could all do a job and with injured players to return, what is pleasing to see this window is that 4 players have been taken off the payroll who simply wouldn’t have got anywhere near the playing squad.

Pointless arguing with him. If we’d have sold Bowler and replaced him with Morgan Rogers whilst bringing Brannagan in, that would have been wrong too.

The guy on twitter is just a young Phil. Constantly posting against the grain, hot takes for attention.

It's not small time at all, turning down multiple bids of millions for a player is absolutely progress from what we're used to.

You can progress in this window but more often than not you don't, clubs bid over the top to try and satisfy an entitled fanbase. I'd prefer we have the odd 'gone backwards' whinge than lob money for the sake of it.

We had a valuation for players, if clubs don't accept that and we pull out that seems like an actual policy, which is progress again.

I think it's more the fact we actually clearly desperately wanted a CM hence the 70 players linked, 15 bids for Brannigan and a handful for Norburn. All very peculiar and there's no way on this planet that they'll have been happy with this window "because they kept Bowler".

Nah, seen a LOT of people who moaned about Bowler and now going mental happy he has stayed.

Mitchell has done it at League one level too. So you cannot say he is an upgrade.

Strike force wasn't a priority. Central midfield was. Which, considering we lost one of our most consistent performers and turned out to be one of the first few names on the team sheet. We've gone backwards. Which is fine and we're safe but it suggests we're content with that and whatever happens the rest of the season happens.

They wanted Brannigan and were prepared to pay decent money for him.

I'm fine with not paying over our valuation of Brannagan, but what is annoying for me is that we didn't even have a loan player lined up/targetted if we couldn't get him. Our tunnel vision for one player is sometimes a good thing because we stick to our guns and don't settle for second best, but it can become a problem if there is a complete lack of a contingency.

As it happens, it does look like Stewart is returning, and we have Robson who has been in excellent form. Connolly has also performed admirably in midfield too so there isn't a need to panic necessarily, just a bit disappointing.

Has Mitchell really done it at League 1 level? 1 goal? He played well a few times last year but he’s not achieved what Kirk has at that level, so I would say it’s an upgrade.

Of course we needed a 4th striker and an additional option to Madine, to compliment the other two.

I agree about central midfield and Wintle but I would also say that our preferred formation generally has two sitting midfielders with a reliance on wingers and forwards to create. We have 4 players who can do this. With Kirk and Dale we also have the option to tuck Anderson (when fit) into the number 10 role if we want to play 3 in there. I do think if we were a couple of points off the play offs or above or in the drop we would have pushed the boat out but looks like we’ve decided on waiting till summer.

And that's fine but my overall point is, we haven't seen progression in terms of quality as I don't remotely agree with your point about Mitchell/Kirk.

And they wanted to pay for quality clearly. So people are allowed to be disappointed in a lack of progression.

If Brannagan is all that good how come there weren't several clubs clamouring for his signature ? As far as I'm aware both in the summer and this window we are the only club who have tried to sign him . Just find it puzzling .
Why are we offering 1 million for him if we don't rate him? And if we're offering 1M for him and 350k for Norburn at the same time, why won't we go to 1.25M for Brannigan?

All very weird tbh and something went wrong.

Fair enough, we’ll see if Kirk is an upgrade. It’s a fairly low bar.
