The training ground

The board says they could expect the signature at literally any moment. Could be hours or days. That being said it’s been dragging on for months longer than they had hoped so if it’s just another week or two I’m sure we can live with it ! The fact they admitted to preparing the press release suggests it’s a shovel ready project though 👍
Yes I just want to see it announced as it'll be an intergal part of the future plan and also show us what sort of ambition they have for the club. We know, but can't wait to see all the details. Also casuals might not know as much as we do.

It might also be a good thing for sales getting this sort of project properly announced as going as its a big investment.

I wonder when it will be ready if we're shovel ready? Am just thinking of getting players signatures and the incentive that could potentially be?

This new training facility is integral to that, and will reinforce that Blackpool is the pre-eminent Club on the Fylde Coast.

that’s the kind of talk I‘ve always wanted to hear from the owners of BFC. Simon Sadler delivers.

100 acres, medical, coaching, fitness and education areas, six grass pitches, one full size artificial pitch and a covered artificial area - but was it good enough for Stanley Matthews!

I used to play in those fields.

In fact you can see the house I grew up in 😊
I can remember doing escape and evasion bollox in those fields , heading out from the back of School Wood.

Mind you, I also remember some of the chaps from St Thoms coming over the fields to have chat with some of our chaps

Isn’t it refreshing how SS always refers to himself as the ‘custodian’? Despite bailing us out, now committing many millions of his families money, he defers to the fact it is not some kind of fiefdom. There is an absence too of him, unlike some, treating the club as some kind of psychological replacement for his love wand in an effort to ‘woo’ and impress people. He seems perfectly relaxed in thanking his wife who herself made it a commitment that the family investment HAD to revitalise the town.

It's a long stone's throw from where I live! 👍😃 My walks around that area will increase enormously! How fit will I be?

It's on the ground where gypsies/travellers have been holding a horse fair in recent years - they'll have to make the fences secure 😅

Same. Lived in Normoss in the 90s. Went to Baines and walked home across them.

I now live near Vida, and my parents live on that new estate in the bottom right corner on the old Fylde Farm site. Well chuffed!!

St Thomas of Canterbury originally St John Vianney Secondary school Blackpool, started there in my 3rd year, did
plenty cross country runs round there 1966/67.

I’ve got a mate I’m exchanging messages at the moment with who lived there and also used to walk across the fields to get to Baines. I was asking him whether the old Fylde Farm site (or part of it) had been developed as a housing estate and neither of us were sure. My mum used to work there.

Wainhomes built a residential site on the old Fylde Farm (Highcross Park) about seven years ago. The access road (Benedict Drive) will be very close to the back of the new training ground. I'll be able to see it from my back bedroom window. 👀 ⚽

Yeah housing estate built, maybe 5 yrs ago. The access to it (Benedict Drive, from Normoss Road) is the same but still no thru road to front of Baines (highcross). The row of terraced houses that were at the bottom of the hill have gone too.

Nothing left of the old FF school
