The training ground

How big is PoolFoot acre wise and how many pitches etc?

TIA
Pool foot aprox 135k Square meters.

When I looked at the site map of ours didn't think it was that big, but damn, its massive.

I have done an approximation.

I thought poolfoot was big, it was compared to squires gate or even other sites we predicted.

This is much bigger than poolfoot.

Squires gate is aprox 27k Square meters.

This dwarfs it. Many multiples bigger.

Yes.
Yeah housing estate built, maybe 5 yrs ago. The access to it (Benedict Drive, from Normoss Road) is the same but still no thru road to front of Baines (highcross). The row of terraced houses that were at the bottom of the hill have gone too.

Nothing left of the old FF scho
I used to use that lane from Highcross next to Baines when I went fishing in the ponds all around there. There was a right of way that ran straight on then took a sharp right that I imagine will run right next to the new boundary to the training ground.

Great place to site the ground. Easy to get to for everyone. Good transport links.
No it’s not! What about us who live in FY4? Disgraceful and no consideration given to the origin area of Blackpool Football Club, why not Lawsons Road? Blah blah blah blah 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

This club just goes from strength to strength since SS took over as 'Custodian' and what has happened in a very short space of 3 years is just incredible.

What a time to be a Seasider! UTMP 👏👏👏👏

By my reckoning that means this development is almost three times the size of pool foot. Not that size is everything.😌

Not sure how you get that, it's about 70k square foot bigger.

Considerable, but not multiple.

Not far off 3 squires gates bigger.....

If pool foot is 135000 square metres that's 33.36 acres. We're talking almost 100 acres aren't we?
I just did the site on maps, but your right it only equals about 50 acres. The only way to get to 100 is almost the whole damn area in between Blackpool and Poulton..

It does say initially 6 pitches, so maybe they have 'only' made the training ground that big for now, but have bought all the land around it too. They must have.

Here's an eg to get near 100 acres.

Jesus... the sites even bigger....

I’ve got a mate I’m exchanging messages at the moment with who lived there and also used to walk across the fields to get to Baines. I was asking him whether the old Fylde Farm site (or part of it) had been developed as a housing estate and neither of us were sure. My mum used to work there.
My mum used to work there too, she was a cook

It’s great stuff 100%

I am assuming that unlike Fleetwood and AFC Fylde’s facilities there is no provision for 5/7 a side pitches for hire for the public/fans?…..I may be missing this of course

Pool foot is a big community base with all local kids teams and walking football etc, bars, restaurants, cafes etc will ours be accessible to the general public? Think the Cods make a fair amount of cash from Poolfoot and it will pay for itself in due course. Just think the big world cup games when they couldn’t serve drinks quick enough. I like the idea of supporting the club during the week whether that’s going for lunch or a coffee, just being in the same location as the team training appeals. Or will it be closed off? Get all the junior teams training there paying £50 an hour, parents spending money whilst waiting and it’ll be a vibrant money making place once it’s up and running.

I believe ours isn’t for community use, hence the joint project at the back of Bloomfield Rd

As long as they don't get Alex Ferguson to cut the ribbon.

Im sure there is a right of way that runs from the alleyway at the bottom of Horsebridge behind Pershore Gardens right across down the side of Baines. But my memory may be hazy on that. It would go right through the middle of the development, I wonder if it would have to be honoured, kept?

Parking a nightmare at Poolfoot and no public transport or they'd make even more.

That map is incorrect, according to the BFC website.
It goes nowhere near Garstang Road, kept well back.
Are you referring to my pic above as an eg to get to 100 acres? I have done the training ground itself eaelier and its very large, but is only about 50 acres and it says they have bought 100. So thats an example to see what aprox 100 areas looks like.

Agree with our location it’d be pretty central for everyone and the pitches in permanent use. If not accessible it’d just be in use a few hours a day, I’d have the first team facilities separate like they do at Poolfoot but it’d bring everyone closer to the club if all junior teams could train there, it’d be a money spinner. I’d even let the portly walking teams in as well even though it’s not proper football.

The announcement said up to Baines, so looks like there is another field bought up to the back of School Wood

I also spent the first few years of my life there, I lived at 55 Furness Avenue , I moved away in about 69/70.
The kids home was at 61 Furness Avenue I think! When I checked a few years ago it was still a home but for adults with addiction problems.

We must’ve moved away about 1963 up to Derwent Place at Highcross. And that’s where I lived on and off until I moved south and mum and dad lived for the rest of their lives.
