Opened today. A much needed new line across our Capital. We'll done TFL and all involved.
You mean the Elizabeth Line Line someone made an almighty balls up with the naming.Opened today. A much needed new line across our Capital. We'll done TFL and all involved.
Absolutely. All this money they keep spending on the North. It's always north this and north that. It's about time London got a look in.Opened today. A much needed new line across our Capital. We'll done TFL and all involved.
You could regenerate Lancashire for what it cost.Presumably it won't have cost more than the regeneration of Revoe?
Bang on 66. I'm fed up with all this Northern hotbed stuff. London is the cornerstone to the UK.Absolutely. All this money they keep spending on the North. It's always north this and north that. It's about time London got a look in.
Here here, and well done to Mayor Khan on getting this over the lineOpened today. A much needed new line across our Capital. We'll done TFL and all involved.
Steve, not like Khan to latch on to anything positive eh ??Here here, and well done to Mayor Khan on getting this over the line
And another £40 billion to spend on the new Crossrail 2.Here here, and well done to Mayor Khan on getting this over the line
I can't see me venturing into the bandit lands of Surrey, modern new railway or not.To be fair, Cross rail 2 goes from North to South. North Hertfordshire, that far flung outpost of the Grimy North down to Surrey.
A nice above ground link would be a start.A nice underground link from Liverpool to Leeds and also Nottingham to Manchester would be a good start.
Problem is all those old bridges, old platforms, roads etc etc etc.A nice above ground link would be a start.
From Leeds it's 15 minutes quicker down to King's Cross than Blackpool North.
There was a perfectly good, quick route direct from Manchester to Sheffield, but they closed it and left us with the Woodhead and Snake passes, while the railway goes here, there and everywhere, meandering around Lancashire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire.Problem is all those old bridges, old platforms, roads etc etc etc.
Always seems nigh on impossible to upgrade the old Victorian network to modern standards.
If that’s truly the case then build an underground solution - nice and direct.
I imagine it would even potentially cost less than all the planning issues, legal wrangles and general fecking around we suffer with the overground service
Here here, and well done to Mayor Khan on getting this over the line
It was, I assume you're also putting that forward as the reason the project was late and massively over budget?Construction started in 2009 when a Mr Boris Johnson was Mayor of London, I wonder what happened to him.
Mr Khan was in charge of that bit.It was, I assume you're also putting that forward as the reason the project was late and massively over budget?
Mr Khan has a track record of reining in the PM's cavalier and reckless use of public money.Mr Khan was in charge of that bit.
How's Johnson's Garden Bridge getting on ? £56m spent so must be close to completion.Construction started in 2009 when a Mr Boris Johnson was Mayor of London, I wonder what happened to him.
Surprising how London and the south east get priority for spending on large capital projects
fuck the north of the country
The only surprise to me is that anyone actually thought that levelling up was a real thing. It’s just a phrase like get Brexit done, wash your hands etc.UK transport spending per capita by region 2023 | Statista
In 2022/23, transport spending in London was 1,272 British pounds per capita, compared with just 361 pounds per head in the East Midlands, indicating a significant regional disparity in public spending on transport.www.statista.com
No surprise there. Levelling up my arse.
