Have collated all the various thoughts and so hopefully must have been included. To make it interesting you can vote three times.

Decent interview with Evatt, think he would he my choice.

Carrick would be a gamble, but the United link could help us get some decent loans. Last year Garner, Chong and Laird all did well in the Championship.
Just like the links we had into Liverpool.

Some of these pool will need to pay comp , so I can’t see anyone coming from another club , pool have no money apparently
so it will another random type , someone we don’t know about like Neil was
if I had to pick , i like the idea of Liam manning

It’s unclear for what length but Manning is under contract with MK and would cost something.

I didn’t actually realise how young he was. At 36 I’m really not a fan of him walking into a Championship dressing room with the likes of Madine, Keogh, Keshi etc he never played above non league level. I could see that turning very bad very quickly.

I think it worked for him this year at MK because he had a very young squad with a fair bit of money spent on players like Twine and Eisa.

Just have a bad feeling about him with us.

The thing with manning is , he is very similar to Neil , worked with young players from academy’s and youth sets ups , it’s what Simon wants isn’t it , work with younger players give them a chance , pick them from lower leagues 🤷

I think Michael Duff might be a good fit for us. Appointed Cheltenham boss in Sept 2018 and they've finished in the following positions since:

18/19 - L2 16th
19/20 - L2 4th
20/21 - L2 1st
21/22 - L1 15th (highest ever league finish for them)

Continual improvement year on year.

Impressed with the job Manning did last season too at MK - it looks like he's been heavily involved in youth football too prior to becoming their manager which fits the same sort of criteria we were after with Critchley.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was one of these too, and I'd be happy with either.

Very possible that we go for that type I agree.

Just a bad feeling he wouldn’t work for us.

Evo would be a heart choice, but not for me. We are a mid-table Championship team and our appointment needs to reflect that, and our ambition.

Carrick is my pick, he handled himself well at United for the short time he was in charge, and if they could make that decision again, United would have appointed him for the remainder of the season. Very measured and professional guy, with the right contacts.

I’d have thought Colin Calderwood would have been top of everyone’s list…. 😉
He might well be considered actually? If he is prepared to come back up here. Might be, for the main job. He knows the club set up and a lot of the players. Just won't want to be away from home full time, I suspect.

I wonder if “Dick” would fancy it ? I wouldn’t think many would want to get into an argument with him.

Out of those listed I've gone for Simmo, Holloway and Evatt! Three Blackpool legends with fond memories of their times with us. Thommo too. All very successful as coaches and managers, at times at least. I just like the idea of someone who has an affection for the club, as well as some experience and success behind them. Get a young coach or two in to work alongside. Or keep Garrity/Brunskill?

With all due respect, there's no way you'll get Evatt, his relationship with the Chairman and fans is insurmountable, and again with respect, Bolton are a bigger club than Blackpool, I wouldn't be hanging your hats on Evatt jumping ship.

Maybe. Maybe not. He applied last time, and is a Blackpool legend. He may prefer to carry on his current job, but we are a Championship club and one he loves. And he's had some crap off Notlob fans. I know a few.

Tony Mowbray for me, solid, vastly experienced and will give youth its chance if good enough. Evo,Dyche are a pipe dream.

He's not to my knowledge given any crap from our fans, they love him for his commitment.

Mowbray and Manning missing from the poll, both get my vote depending on requirements ie safe pair of hands or up and coming

Not sure any of them walked into a team of seasoned pros at 36, my point was, he’s going to have to move mountains to gain the respect of the players with that background.

And the list of managers you’ve never heard of who couldn’t cut management with a crappy playing record is probably almost infinite.

I’d rather not try the Manning experiment.

The point is simple - managing is not playing.

Some people make the jump many do not - so hence I am reluctant to rule anyone out if they were not great players.

It may not have come across due to how I worded it but that wasn’t really what I was getting at, it was just an add on issue I see being a problem.

As your hyperbolic example shows some great managers come from poor playing back grounds, often the best ones.

I think there’s more at play with why I would prefer to steer away from him. Was it a one season wonder? He had plenty of money relative to the division, he’s younger than some of the current squad would that effect their view of him are just some of the things I thought, given where we are there are safer bets for me.

Who cares, they're all bloody mercenaries. I would have said Evatt, but he soon dumped Barrow when a bigger club came calling, he would do the same here.

Simon Grayson now 7/2 2nd favourite with skybet. Is a return to pool on the cards for Larry
