Scully

Would be a class signing if it comes off, can play either as a LW or a RW.

20/21 as mostly a substitute he scored 11 and assisted 4.
21/22 in his first season as a starter he scored 11 and assisted 7 in a much worse team albeit.

Plenty of signs that he is just starting to grow as a player and with only 1 year left on his contract I'd like to think that we could get him for cheaper than Kirk (less than 500k).

Also think it's a good indication of how good a player is based on the reactions of the fans of his club.

Every Lincoln fan is up in arms now about potentially losing him and some are saying they want 2 million minimum for him. 😂

A target that fits our recruitment profile, 23yo and with resale potential.

Millwall (possible replacement for Wallace?), Blackburn, Barnsley and PKE were supposedly tracking him last season.

Edit - This Lincoln fan reckons it would be a "massive loss" to lose Scully....

Not surprised were linked to him, but I'd be very happy if we got him. Good player that Appleton obviously knows well and with only a year left on his contract, we should be able to get him for a good price.

Plausible. Football League World is semi-credible as a source, maybe 6/10, though sometimes wildly off target.

We could do a lot worse. Just hoping the manager is looking beyond just players he’s worked with.

Is he not another Lavery?

Impressive!
Left foot, right foot, takes a good penalty and (doesn’t look tall) even a header.
I’ll go with him. AND, why can’t we have him on the left, Josh B on the right?

15 goals in league 1 is that brilliant.
Our Jerry got 20+ when we were there
Just like Jerry did last season, this lad will find it difficult in the Championship.

An interesting blog on Scully.

"In our 2020/21 play-off season, he scored 17 times without ever really nailing down a first-team place. Is he a winger? Probably not quick enough. Is he a striker? Maybe not big enough. Is he a ten? Perhaps. Whatever his best position and I still don’t think we know it yet, he is an effective player no matter where he starts. Last season he netted 15 goals, despite being out of the team for a couple of months injured. He just has a knack for getting into the right positions to score.

"I’ll be honest, whilst I’d miss Scully, I do think he struggled at times last season. He was electric going into autumn, but tailed off perhaps through injury. Every player has his price, and if Blackpool cough up £750,000 or so, then it would feel like a good, solid deal and give us scope for reinvesting in maybe two players. After all, that is what a team like us has to do right now, whether you like it or not.

With that attitude we may as well never sign a player from any other league ever again then! I think we’ve got to trust the scouts, analysts and coaches who will work with or who already have a knowledge of these players to make a decision based on attributes as opposed to simple statistics such as goals and assists. There’s a lot more to a players game. Scully may well thrive with better cleverer players around him. You are right and could well be a flop though. But I do trust the clubs approach. In recent years they’ve been pretty solid and have a good record of finding players who have made the step up.
