Just need some signings now

Should see some movement this week ideally. The talks about which players Appleton want should be done now and it's down to the club to go and get them.

Cynical size of me thinks there’ll be some impetus to get one or two things done before the early bird season ticket deadline next week, although I’m sure that won’t be the sole driving factor.

Much will depend on departures, too. And not just JB.

Not sure about this week. MA must have trawled through our most of our matches from last season and can see whose faces fit amongst the training sessions going on. If he is going to change the system or look at competition for places then he probably has a list already in front of SS.

It will be an interesting next few days. When did we last have that many players training at this time of the season ??!!

With the way the club goes about business I can’t see us announcing ‘x player’ will sign for us at the end of their contract etc. We’ll likely keep our cards close to our chest and that means our targets hopefully go under the radar, no other clubs know how much / little we have in the transfer kitty or where we’re at with regards to our business. It puts us in a strong negotiating position and I can therefore see a number of signings being announced at the same time, and quite possibly it being on July 1st when any contracts are ended.

That's something the club should've been doing long before now, this early on it's really not Appleton's call, the club has a full season of training reports and matches watched live, feedback from Critchley and other staff, they're not suddenly going to ditch all that for feedback from videos and a couple of pre-season training sessions, that would be madness.

The club knew who they want to move on and what they want to bring in before the season ended, the fact that Critchley's now at Villa hasn't changed that.

If the structure of the club is as Mansford describes then you'd hope John Stephenson and team were already underway with sounding out clubs, agents, players for moves ahead of MA's appointment so a new face or two really should be absolutely imminent.

I think the club are spacing out the good news after the Appleton saga.

The next bit of news for the club to announce should be the new kits, which should be around the 25th of June.

Guessing we're due a couple more pre-season games to be announced also.

Then maybe after, we'll start getting some movement on transfers.

I got shouted down when I suggested just this on another thread, but that is how I understood the club operated. The Head Coach is here to organise training and coaching with some input into transfer targets, but far from having the final word.

If we sold Bowler and Anderson and brought in Scully, Rogers, a creative centre midfield, right back cover and maybe a number 10 type attacking midfield/centre forward and kept everyone else would most be happy. I would be.

Agree but his views will be important to the club, which may explain why nothing has happened so far. The Anthony Scully rumour if true would be one example of where his input has counted.

the club appears to have 26 senior professionals according to wikipedia
doesn t Mr Appleton need to get some of them earning their money
before bringing more players in.

There will be outgoings to finance incomings. As in the January window, when nothing happened, money appears to be tight

We made 9 permanent and 4 loan signings last summer . In January , when transfer activity is never that great , we made 3
permanent and one loan signing so something did happen . We will have to wait and see what transpires this window but Mansford
has said this year's budget is higher than last year's.

Would love to know the 9 we signed and how many we would consider first teamers now - presume Connolly. Beesley and Lavery .. any others?
