Summer transfer rumours deux, the 'Appy edition.

Simon has continually said the funds are going to be there, and that it’s going to be more than previous years - we need to calm down, the new man has only come in a few days ago

Blackpool transfer target to join Huddersfield Town from AFC Wimbledon

It was an ipswich fan of mine who sent it me tbf, didn’t even see where the links came from he just said a few of their fans seem to think it is a done deal

Can't see how they could afford it, in terms of fees we'd have to be looking at £2m+ and possibly substantially more, and in terms of wages, he got a new contract last summer so he must be one of our top earners and well beyond what a L1 could normally pay.

That was my reaction saying how much, like you said he recently signed a new contract, is loved by the fans here and will be a top earner in our team, the fact the fee is ‘undisclosed’ made me doubt it straight away

I think its a load of crap but if he was to go its another position we then need find a replacement for which is the last thing we need at the monent

Ipswich Town are significantly funded since their takeover in April 2021.You could see Jerry being a prime target given their desire to get out of League One and his previous record at that level.

Im not saying I want it to happen but I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand. With average gates of around 22000 and we'll funded ownership it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

I agree, Ipswich are probably the only lg1 team who could afford him and they do have a track record of big money signings since the takeover. The club have gone ‘radio silent’ so there might be something in this. Also worth noting any fee will probably include a decent sell on fee to Rotherham

Must be a record for the number of posts and no signing. What are we up to 1700 across 2 threads.
Maybe the next thread will be Post training camp edition

I spotted an old guy walking about Bloomfield Road yesterday in a Juventus home shirt with Ronaldo on the back.

There isn't anything in it, it's come from a fake twitter account who also tweeted yesterday that we're close to completing the signing of C*meron Br*nnagan

Trying to be positive it would appear we are actually looking at players because the Dele-Bashiru story seems genuine. Also if that is the kind of player we want (and he sits squarely within the profile) it's not going to be easy signing them.
If all the players we are looking to sign are under contract and the current club wants to keep them again that also adds a degree of difficulty
The loans never come in until the last minute so maybe we can expect a busy transfer deadline day.
I'ts certainly testing the patience of the "I want that player and I want him now" brigade.

Not always, some loans have gone out already, City have got a couple out to Burnley and Coventry, Leeds and Forest have a few out as well.

I think often they're last minute because permanent transfers haven't happened, or indeed have happened at the last minute and someone needs to fill the gap.

It's the oldest trick in the book. You make an unrealistic bid for a player you have next to no chance of signing and it looks to some fans as though you are making an effort. I think they are sorely trying fans' patience now, especially after 8,000 of us renewed!

Bit short on FBs. Here's another rumour.

just been in touch with a mate of mine who is a shamrock rovers ST holder. he rates lyons v highly and fully expects him to move on very soon. apparently he turned down an english club at the start of last season when he joined SR.

he also thinks there will probably be a low release clause (which is quite common for league of ireland players apparently) which may explain the relatively low bid.

assuming he hasn't signed for us, we can watch him in action on tuesday 19th as rovers play ludogorets in the champions league qualifiers. rovers are currently top of the irish premier division and doing well.

Don't think clubs can turndown a bid if it matches a release clause though.

i certainly wouldn't expect a release clause to be that low, but if it's in the region of 500k, then a cheeky opening bid of 100k makes sense.
