Cummings

The government are denying he made a further 2 visits to the North East.

If he was there you can be damned sure the media will find proof.

Let’s scrutinise his phone records that should give positive clues to his whereabouts & dates etc.

this is a non story, completely politically motivated. even the police have said theres no action required.

For a non story it’s getting an awful lot of coverage 😂

And an awful lot of people from all sides seem to be genuinely cross about it. Piers Morgan. Julia Hartley Brewer. The Spectator. The Sunday Times.

And what about the Tory MPs who are calling for Cummings to be sacked? Do they think it’s a non story?

Even Grant Shapps, defending him this morning, accepted it was perfectly proper to be asking for answers.

Of course YOU want this to be a non story but I'm afraid for some of us who have abided strictly by the rules, together with the personal sacrifice that entails, set by our government it really isn't. I can only assume that anyone who thinks non story is either politically motivated or have been breaking the rules from the start. Which one is it?

Good way to get him off the hook is to pretend there are other instances and get the media to run with it..when it transpires he never actually made another trip it deflects from the original crime and he may just slutch though...personally I believe his position is untenable

William Wragg, MP for Hazel Grove, has retweeted Baker's criticism of Cummings.

Who cares?

How are we getting the schools open, the people back to work and the health system back into routine?

Also think there is currently a battle of power going on in government at the moment from some unelected people who head multiple top departments. Will be very interesting how this all plays out. There have already been big changes going on restructuring government whilst all this has been going on.

I posted very early on that Boris would try to wriggle out of sacking Cummings as his indispensable guru.Everything since seems to be depressingly predictable and will certainly considerably undermine support for Boris and his government quite deservedly too.

Part of me does wonder whether this is
a deliberate ploy to scupper any lockdown that is still in place. Given the level of anger, I think that maybe some might now be thinking ' fuck it. Why bother?'
Alternatively the man in question might just be an arrogant c##t.
I mentioned this earlier. There's usually a ploy
this is a non story, completely politically motivated. even the police have said theres no action required.
Wouldn't you agree that there's a moral obligation to follow your own guidelines and advice?

A non story that Tories are calling for him to go. Right.

I just think there is a large element of remoaner revenge here - there's other issues we should be dealing with like lifting the lockdown. Unless he's charged with a crime, which he's not been, and won't be as no law was broken, then the focus should be elsewhere.

There have been at least 51 MPs on the Government benches who are tying themselves to the Cummings mast by tweeting in favour of the indefensible, including:
  • Rishi Sunak
  • Michael Gove
  • Dominic Raab
  • Piti Patel
Also Grant Shapps (on Andrew Marr this morning), who had this to say:

“We’ve never told people specifically where to locate themselves.”

However, the Guardian’s John Harris has posted this extract from the official Government guidance:

I bet the Police hate Cumminngs! Imagine trying to caution someone who is out and about at the mo. "Well Cummings did it'" will be used quite a lot I would guess!

Has this made anyone change their mindset on the lockdown? I'm being honest but kind of makes me think what's the point now! It's not so much what Cummings has done, but it's the support he has received from high profile colleagues that has got to me. In fact, I'll just tell the wife that's it's ok to go and drive 100 odd miles to see her parents and family that we havent seen for months. Cos, it is ok right?

But you’ve got common sense GJJW and you wouldn’t put yours or anybody else’s health at risk, not like this selfish prick!

I suspect people will fall into one of three camps.

A lot will just say; in that case fuck the lockdown.

Others will be annoyed but still think the lockdown is the right policy, so will reluctantly continue to abide by it.

I suspect most will broadly continue as before, but when it comes to the difficult questions like whether to visit parents, children and grandchildren, they’ll be more inclined to think “why not?” And it’ll be because of Cummings and his arrogance.

And it's nothing to do with Remoaner s revenge.

not at all, just no point in continuing, plus I've been left with chores to do by Mrs Halifax.

I'll leave you all with your pitchforks. 👍

Just read this from a lawyer. "If the Government’s approach is correct, then mitigation has now become a defence. That means, it is no longer against the law to steal an apple if you are hungry."

I've just seen Dominic Cummings on Tithebarn Street in Poulton. When I got in I checked his picture online -- I didn't need to because I have a photographic memory -- but the bald head was identical. I bet he'll deny that too.

Thinking back, I've seen him many times at Bloomfield Road.

I think you’re totally missing the point on this one to be honest.

I’ll do the right thing whatever. But I totally get your point and yes, it will definitely happen.

Interesting that David Cameron previously described him as a career psychopath.
I can totally see that. Smug b*stard.

Boris is doing today’s brief now instead of Kendrick and been put back an hour. Popcorn at the ready.

I wonder if after this press conference, when the press will not ask what the Government wants, they will kick the conferences into touch.
