Ale drinkers

Today I mailed the SLO congratulating the Club on introducing both the Heinken Lounge and the Moretti Lounge. I noted however, that there was nothing for us cask ale drinkers. I suggested the introduction of 1 x 9 gallon cask of ale to each of the West bars, just to test demand. That way there would be no waste and it might just take off. Steve replied that he would put it to the Board.

Can't do any harm eh?

As someone who used to work running pubs I wouldn't touch Cask ale at a football ground or any venue that didn't have regular trade with a barge pole.
For a start it wouldn't work in a plastic cup, potential waste, can the staff pull a cask ale pint the whole thing is just a faff for someone having one pint before a game.

Just put up with the Bitter on offer or get your fill in the loads of pubs around the town who offer the service.

Where Keg is 6 months so why would the club bother unless they had a bar that opened regular like other grounds do.
The club have Rowleys don’t they or whatever it’s called these days surely that’s open nightly?

Anyway I think you’d need more than 1x 9 gallon cask to be honest as it would be all gone by 2:30pm.

We have cask at our boat club and we only open once a week easily get 3-4 weeks out of it.

And yet I went to the Amex in 2011 (2-2, brilliant Kevin Phillips goal) and had a good pint of Harvey's best bitter. People who dismiss cask ale are those who want to dismiss it.

Yes you might need more than 1 x 9 gallon cask. I'm talking about introducing it gradually. Then there's no waste. If the first one's gone by 2.30 so be it. That would be a success.

Still no flaming sambuca bar for us in the North 👎

Pretty sure for a period it had a guest mild on which I’am sure it was Chester’s.

I could have the pub wrong of course as it was 45 years ago. 🙄

Just read above yes more than likely it was the Veevers so cheers. 👍
No you are probably right. I went in it twice in those days. You're probably right.

Thank you for the positive response. Some negatives are deliberate and some are not really interested. It wouldn't harm to try it people. If it fails then so be it. I'll shut up.

Which is why I said, one 9 gallon barrel as a starter.
Why don't the club sell Vodka?
Easy to serve doesn't go off and I'd put my house on it would make more money than a 72 pint barrel.

Just go to a pub or ask for the club to open a Real Ale lounge at a tenner a pop like Heineken/Moretti but I know what you real ale tight arsed gets are like not a flaming chance you'd pay that.😂😂😂

If you want to carry on drinking that piss lager and John bloody smiths bitter that’s fine by me.
As long as we have a few casks of real Ale in the west stand bars the really important supporters of the club will be more than happy. 😛

Wish I could drink the monkey piss in the North I've given up it's that bad to get served. 😂

1966… your idea and any other that can be trialled for minimum cost should be welcomed by the club…I’m sure plenty of ideas at small cost to trial are there…
Bottom fill glasses is the way foreword but it costs 3 times the normal pumps I believe so big outlay…

And there we have it. Someone who's anti-real ale. Why not say that to start with and save us all some time?

I dont drink lager and plenty of others dont so an alternative would be great but I cant see cask happening as much as i love it. There's plenty of good beer alternatives in kegs, cans and bottles.

I know I'm speaking to the converted Voy but when I went to the Amex it was like a revelation. Not cheap by any means but a pint of cask ale...at a football ground! We could at least try it.

I drink before/after games and rarely bother in the ground. Be nice but not essential for me.

If there's any left at the end of the match me and my mate would be happy to finish the cask, to avoid waste.

Just get in a load of bottles of Lancaster Red and I will be happy. I don't drink the horrid stuff over the bars.

I'm new to BFC.. But do wish for a cask ale in the ground.. However.. I detest the long queue for anything in the South stand and the order/pay in advance didn't appear to work.. I see the bottle/can huts are unused.. I'm happy with the tins of seasiders ale brew by Cockerham based Farm Yard Ales.. Bring back the huts for FYA cans and national brewed bottles.. Cask would be nice but don't think this country grasps pulling one-2 dozen pints in advance during quiet times...
