Summer Transfer Rumours trois - Will Appy (re)sign anyone?

On ? Answers on a postcard !
The cynic in me thinks, you can offer however million you want, if the wages aren't up to scratch, your money stays safely in the bank.

That was exactly Karl’s way of doing it and it does smack of it again.

I know things are better but when you lived through the Cartmell and then the Stains years m not going to apologise for being cynical and untrusting, when you’ve had over 50 years of shit ownership I’m not going to get all fluffy about things now because it seems to keep happening. It’ll take a few years before I’m fully satisfied

Fair enough I have been thinking similar thoughts.
I prefer to think we are trying to buy quality, but haven’t got the money, status or credibility to quite get we want without blowing the budget.
If that is the case we might get closer to what we want at the end of August when everyone has to declare their hand.
We have enough to start the season I think, and need to lose a few to make some room.
Let’s see what happens on the pitch and in the transfer market upto the end of the window before dissing the regime.

I think the most important thing is that we haven’t sold or lost many 1st team regular players
— hopefully that‘ll last — no—one is screaming to leave but it’s really puzzling why these players do u—turns with the pen lids off

If we have a little money, we hit the loan market — they‘ll be a surplus Prem League players
With some having points to prove — this seemed to work for Forest and Luton last season

We‘re not setting our heights better than last season‘s finish realistically.

Players need to do their job and fans need to back the team and Manager now — it’s easy to achieve much in a small time but it’s easily lost and u are back at square 1 or worse !

The way I see this is it was a prank by Brannagan and his agent, the club never offered to meet his release clause, they simply leaked that we had, so they could announce his new contract a few hours later.

Fair enough, let's move on.

From Sean's article today on Lancs Live.

Appleton
"We want to improve and get better all the time, clearly that will free up one or two players and give them the opportunity to go out on loan and get some football elsewhere. We're still pretty confident that by the end of the window there'll be one or two more players that will come in.

"One will excite the fans, one will excite the players that are in the building already and hopefully improve us and take us to another level."

I hope this last bit is based on something solid that is going to happen, we've heard him say similar for a few weeks now.

That’s a weird comment-
If one excites the fans, and one the other players, is it not the same thing? “Bloody hell, the lads are loving that we’ve signed x, but the fans absolutely hate him”

Maybe one is an experienced pro that the current players will look up to and be excited to work alongside, it's Ronaldo, Mansford has gone all in.

We have missed out on a number of targets not just brannigan. I think we deserve at least a statement from the club otherwise some fans will assume the worst. Clearly it’s not all the club’ fault but under Sadler and Mansford we expected better than this. Yes it’s great that funds are available thank you Simon but what is going wrong? Why can’t we attract the players we want? Why are players preferring league one? It’s a bit embarrassing and frustrating for the fans so we please bcc need a few things clearing up. Somewhere along the line players are not coming for a reason and it’s happening too often. A simple statement from the club would be useful to assuage fans concerns.

There will be some flotsam and jetsam around soon, Karl knew his onions. Players will be literally begging to come here towards the end of the transfer window.
Is this a wind up!! ko was a massive **, no interest in football, no interest in being a decent man by most people's standards his motivation was maximum money for himself with minimum effort, hard to believe you found people to like your post!!

I've had a few beers and I did ask the question.
Anyway it makes a change from it being you and although you often come.across as a clown as I occasionally do I will always have more class and show more dignity.
Enjoy your moment.

You know that the OP was a completely different poster to me, don't you?

If Sterling was one of then I would be perfectly happy with that!

It's called irony, expressing your meaning by using language that is normally the total opposite. You usually do this for humorous effect.
Obviously wasted on some, so in short, yes it's a wind up, one that the people who liked, obviously understood.

Thanks for pointing that out I'd never come across it before.

Nixon has a story on us tomorrow.
Probably more rubbish.
We mustn't use the agents that feed him.

Don’t get the Nixon hate he’s been pretty much spot on with transfers in the past.

He was obviously completely wrong about Rosenior, but he wasn’t alone.

Think people need to read these kinds of stories with a bit of critical thinking.

Nixon (and other football reporters) get information. That information may or may not be accurate. More to the point, it may or not be the full picture.

In Nixon’s case, a big chunk of what he knows is from agents, who are playing their own game.

For example when he was swearing blind that Chris Kirchner was going to buy Derby he was getting his information from Rooney’s agent, Paul Stretford… and look what happened there.

Doubt very much that anyone gets more than a trickle of news out of BFC …

He's trying to monetize his Twitter account, and that's leading to him trying to pretend he knows more than he does.

He gets some good leads on transfers, because it's usually in someone's interest to leak, but he's in the dark on much of the ownership/management matters, and has ended up causing problems as a result.

Agreed, although a statement about Brannagan might not be out of order if the stories from last week were just a prank by the player.
It's not for the club to say that it was just a prank by the player. That would be up to the player to admit to. Which he won't.

Appleton has confirmed they tried to sign him but he got a better offer to stay where he was so it didn't happen. That's it.

The better offer was his wife didn't want to come here. Bad move on his part. No club that I can think of has been a stepping stone to bigger and better clubs than Blackpool. It's not going to happen for him in this lifetime. It was time to move on from Oxford. But.....Someone you know from up north will be joining us soon, so life's not all bad.

This year was a bad year for BFC business in the spotlight. Moves are only the fans' business when they are completed.

Providing there’s something in what you’re saying.. I was hoping we’d be looking at Kemar Roofe. Being linked with Derby and Wednesday but if he wants to play at a higher level.. was really successful at Oxford under Appleton too.

I can think of Brentford, Brighton and Peterborough who are stepping stones to bigger and better clubs in terms of being able to sell themselves and attract a player with moderate investment, give them the platform and then making big profits out of selling them. Blackpool, certainly under Sadler, yet to get up and running in that way. Still at chicken or egg stage.

Agree, all three of those clubs you mention consistently get more money for their players than we do. We need a fundamental shift in attitude at BFC where we stop thinking in terms of the player doing us a favour, and more that we're doing them a favour by developing them and putting them in the shop window. Each of those three clubs seem to manage to sign good young players without being forced into adding ridiculously low min fee release clauses for example. It's all about perception of the club, both by the players and by the club themselves. It'll take time.

From Hughes, to Ball, to Walsh, Hart, Sinclair, Burns, and soon to be Bowler I don't know any club with our track record but I agree we seem to price cheaper than our competitors for some unknown reason. I think that will end with Sadler in charge. Seems a fiscally smart man to me. Interesting how he's looking for investment funds.

How old are you to be quoting those names? It's 2022 and the only one on your list who is still playing football and would hold the highest value for the club is on the shortest contract, unless that changes soon. There's one of your unknown reasons for starters.

Didn't know about looking for investment funds. Careful you don't cause another press release interview talking about doing a Derby or whatever.

Can see the excite the fans bit if it happens but the excite the players bit sounds dubious, if this player comes in it sounds like one of them will be shipped out on loan to Crawley or Preston or some other god awful non entity of a footballing village, we’ll see soon enough & it sounds very interesting although a bit strange that the players would get excited

You would imagine a player who would excite the other players has been there and done that, with a good reputation throughout football. Probably a more senior player!?
i think a player to excite the fans would be someone who will add quality to the team in a midfield or forward position!?
