Seems quite content with everything and how they go about their business reading the press release interview the other day. That said he also seems to think Callum Connolly is a right back because he scored a goal so no idea really.I wonder what Sadler's view is on all the recruitment team stuff? The one permanent signing so far this summer (Thompson) seems to have been instigated by Appleton, who has tried to sign him before.
We assumed a lot of the young Prem loanees were down to Critchley's scouting and U23 contacts. But looking at our business so far, maybe our recruitment staff are focusing their efforts there?
I'd love to know which signings they've actually had a hand in. It could be a collaborative effort but none of it seems to make a lot of sense at the moment.
Paint the whole world with a rainbow.Dance, sing, everything!
I’m fed up of that hackneyed phrase “ there’s a player in there” Someone has said that about every player we sign, Nuttall is a case in point. Why can’t a certain section of our fanbase accept that occasionally we will drop a bollock and sign players that aren’t up to standard,Dale is one. He may be a decent player for Pompey in league one, he won’t hack it in the Championship. Apart from a really good debut at Reading he’s done next to nothing, just like he did on his trial period. Yet still Critchley signed he and even he hardly played him last season.I think there's a player there, but it's the old story of needing game time, something he won't get with us - at the moment.
Good move for us, and him.
I don’t know about his personality, but he’s definitely a lazy player. If the ball is more than 5 yards away he just can’t be arsed.Where have all these comments on his attitude/personality come from?
If he’s struggling with the trains, I’ll run to Portsmouth or anywhere else that wants to sign him.Option to buy at the end of the loan allegedly, their manager wants it done in the next 48 hours.
Hate that phrase as well. He's barely been given a chance. He needs pitch time. You may hate the term but in this case it fits.I’m fed up of that hackneyed phrase “ there’s a player in there” Someone has said that about every player we sign, Nuttall is a case in point. He did very little to impress in the pitch time he did get, as was said in an earlier post. When ho lost the ball he stood there waving his arms about, made no attempt to get it back, as I said he’s a lazy player. I hope he does very well at Portsmouth, they will hopefully then buy him. He's barely been given a chance. He needs pitch time. You may hate the term but in this case it fits.
I understand that sentiment to a point, and personally I’m not a big fan of Dale either, as too often doesn’t seem to do it for whatever reason. However a much bigger bug bear with me, and I’ve said it many times so apologies for saying it again - is the absolutes so many fans use! “He’s league 1”, “he’s premier league standard”, “he’s sh1t”… football is more complicated than that! A player will be brilliant in one champ team and useless in another for a myriad of reasons.I’m fed up of that hackneyed phrase “ there’s a player in there” Someone has said that about every player we sign, Nuttall is a case in point. Now I’m not saying there’s a champ team out there where Owen Dale will be like Ryan Giggs, maybe he’s not got what it takes for this level, but in flashes like at Reading, he looked very good, hence the wondering some people will have. Maybe people should say, “there MIGHT be a player in there”… for me that’s better decreeing their all-knowing judgement, delivered as if it’s a point of fact, that he is the new Rory Prendeghast!
But that’s just my opinion
and the worldy towards the end of the season. Goals/assists per min on the pitch will be amongst our best. But we need to off load to bring in, thats football. Wish him wellApart from his 45 minutes at Reading he's not shown anything remotely resembling a Championship player.
The problem is, as you acknowledged is he looked very good “ in flashes “ the problem is there aren’t enough flashes. As they say even a broken clock is right twice a day. That’s why I maintain it’s his attitude more than lack of ability the, can’t be arsed, and if that’s not the true Dale then , I’m sorry but that’s how he comes across.I understand that sentiment to a point, and personally I’m not a big fan of Dale either, as too often doesn’t seem to do it for whatever reason. Tbf I use a ‘Lg1 level’ ‘Championship level’ a lot as I find it the best guide to state the ability of a player. There’s a reason we have a pyramid system that teams and players can progress through and drop down.I understand that sentiment to a point, and personally I’m not a big fan of Dale either, as too often doesn’t seem to do it for whatever reason. He is a waste of already wasted spaceNot even that good tbh
Respectfully, that wasn’t my point. If you read my post again, I didn’t say I think there is a team where dale will shine, I actually think he’s pretty sh1t too, I’m just generally more diplomatic than to say so (sorry Owen!), I just don’t necessarily think me thinking something makes it a fact!Tbf I use a ‘Lg1 level’ ‘Championship level’ a lot as I find it the best guide to state the ability of a player. The fact Dale needs to find ‘the’ team to thrive in the Championship in your opinion would suggest that he really isn’t up to the standard to thrive in this league. Grimshaw, Gabriel, Stewart, Bowler, Ekpiteta, Fiorini & Connolly would all thrive in virtually every team in this league. They are therefore Championship standard.
There’s people in the middle like Madine, Yates and Dougall who to varying degrees have performed in this league but would be heavily supported by being in the right team.
Then there’s people like CJ, Garbutt, Dale et al that don’t seem to be able to do it effectively at this level, however they have shown in multiple teams they can do ‘it’ at league one and below. Now if you put them on the other 23 teams in this league would they thrive? Hmmm possibly in less than 3/4 so for me in my opinion they are not up to this level and as I said about Dale. It looks like Lg1 is his ceiling.
I think SS is very happy with the process. He actually said as much in last week’s interview.I wonder what Sadler's view is on all the recruitment team stuff? The one permanent signing so far this summer (Thompson) seems to have been instigated by Appleton, who has tried to sign him before.

Respectfully, when some one starts a sentence off with respectfully it generally means there is no respect assigned to it. .Respectfully, that wasn’t my point. My other point was, because sometimes he looked like a good player, then some people are entitled to think there MIGHT be … a player in there somewhere. (Again, I’m not one of those. ).
Not when I start a sentence with it, I entirely meant it. I have zero interest in message board rows.Respectfully, when some one starts a sentence off with respectfully it generally means there is no respect assigned to it. .
I didn’t mean it makes it a fact. We re on a message board where opinions are offered and I was merely pointing out why people including me label ‘levels’
I think we’ve seen Dale for enough time now to realise despite the ‘flashes’ he is extremely unlikely to make it in the Championship.
Wants his baby to be born on the gold coast. He's partner is due to give birth soon so it will be to do with that.
Wonder if he managed a smile at the conception.Wonder if he managed a smile when it was born.
