The Way We Are Perceived

Had my eyes open tonight in a conversation with Kaspars Varpins ( VB’s man on the ground at Blackpool)

He’s made the observation that in Latvia the perception is that the U.K.’s role in tackling Russia is a game changer and that had it not been for us Ukraine would’ve capitulated to Putin

He also said without doubt that we’ve done more than everything else including the US

BTW they are on war footing training to fight

Putin is a megalomaniac trying to recreate the USSR, but views Ukrainians as an inferior race. Ukraine tried to break free just after WW2, but the attempt was ruthlessly put down.
We have undoubtably got domestic issues, but support of Ukraine in my opinion has to take precedence.
Our common enemy is not Russia, but their leadership.

Yes B 'liar' J is the most popular statesman in the world, but only in the Ukraine - in fact people like me, who really disagree with the 'let's cause a war with someone as it might save my popularity and PM'ship' wish he would base himself asap in E Ukraine, ptrferably right on the front line.

He's good at spending our cash in wars we have to support in many ways, but not as openly as some in the UK Government seem to think they speak for. We used to live in a democracy, now we have popularity private votes and the democracy at times which seems to match that of ermmm... Russia !

To be honest I’m not too sure what I think about what they think

What I didn’t realise was how overwhelmingly positive our role is perceived in Eastern Europe ( Russia excepted )

Sounds about right to me, I’d imagine those ukraine folk have more to worry about than a birthday cake during lock down😯
Boris will go down in history as the man that saved Ukraine and deserves all the plaudits that come his way 👍🏻

We do live in a democracy it's just that people who disagree with the outcome of a vote convince themselves it's not democratic.

Was in Krakow in April and there were US troops all over the show. Met a Ukrainian refugee who greeted me and the missus like celebs - just because we were British. Was going on and on about Boris but I was too interested in the sesh and the Grand National to be bothered indulging him.

Obviously Putin caused it but Biden becoming president made him think let’s have a go at Ukraine as a last act as Russian leader. Trump told Putin if you invade I will bomb Moscow and for four years of trumps presidency he didn’t dare invade just in case

What a load of bollock

FACT.....Russia walked into the Donbas region of 'Ukraine' even though 80% had voted to leave 'Russia' and nobody wanted them
The 'invasion' killed locals and supported a small minority separatist group (which has been proved to be supported by Putin) since invading in 2014......80% of locals have fled the Donbas to the Ukraine and 'Russian' supported military have led a guerrilla war.

Your comment shows you know nothing about what's really going on......Plump tried to blackmail Ukraine into giving him dirt on the Biden family by refusing funding and arms to support the Ukraine military in it's fight against the 'Russians' in the Donbas.....failure to support by Plump.....allowed 'Russian' military to gain ground which ultimately led to it's attack on the whole country.....

What it has proved.....'Russia' ISNT a super power.....it's military are weak, it's supply chain is weak....and it's military leadership is clueless.......

Put Plump back in the Oval office and once again he's Putin's little puppet and will support him.....but Europe wont......and that's where it could get very interesting.

President Trump (childish name calling undermines so much of your argument) tried to warn Chancellor Merkel about her over-reliance on Russian hydrocarbons - and they literally laughed in his face.

As with most things, it's a bit more complicated than one side good, one side bad - other than totalitarian states like Russia, China, NK etc. where pretty much all the leaders are abhorrent.

Back to the O/P; we are generally on the right side of history when it comes to protecting countries and minorities in war. We protected the Muslims in Yugoslavia, the Kurds in Iraq and are supporting the Ukrainians. We aren't perfect, but on this matter, we need to support Ukraine as much as we possibly can.

Other than calling him Plump what do you see wrong in his analysis. I think he's spot on.

Without Donald they can flex their muscles. We can’t even stop economical migrants coming here on a daily basis.

Not really, but as I said, it's not as simplistic as that's all President Trump did.

He was all over the place, but on some things he called it right and it needs to put in for a fair reflection of the situation.

He wasn't strong enough on the Russian invasion of Crimea - whether that's because he is a puppet or because he specifically didn't want the USA acting as the world's policeman and did far less overseas special military exercises than Obama and Bush and Clinton will entirely depend on your political outlook - but he was right on German over reliance on Russian hydrocarbons and the did laugh at him for saying it.

Personally I'm waiting for one of Putins' own men to finish him off.
Putin is pure evil and someone will surely do the job?
