I used to hold my school uniform up to the gas heater at 7am and then put it on when it was roasting.Electric blankets, ice on the inside of your window. Getting dressed under the bedsheets because the bedroom was baltic.
Nonsense..vinyl in great/new condition played through high end equipment is far superior to any compressed digital sound..Vinyls! Digital audio obviously sounds far superior but there was nothing like selecting a record, removing it carefully from the sleeve, putting it on the turntable, lifting the arm over and managing to hit the right spot (especially if it was slightly warped!)
Kraft cheese slices that weren’t wrapped but you had to peel off the block.
Haliborange vitamins. The smell was lovely!
Nurses hats and capes.
....oh is that obsolete...Darned socks
oracle on itv lolProbably just me, but when checking the Ceefax page for the latest scores and Pool were losing, I’d change channels, go on teletext and check, just in case there had been a clerical error on Ceefax.
Ton upI know this won’t get a ton because it’s hard to remember the random things that you don’t miss.
But thinking back to the norms that now seem like a distant daft memory….
I’ll start with the ‘choke’ on a car. Like I had an escort mk2 in 1989, no-one ever explained the science of the choke to me, so I just pulled it out and hoped for the best. I’d heard rumours of flooding the engine but had no guidance on the right amount of pulling before ignition
And the immersion heater before you could have a bath ?
my brother sent me the website of an auction house, similar kind of price for an escort and around the same for a Mk 3 capri 2.8i.There was one outside our flat a few weeks ago, on a round Scotland rally. Tangerine ! googled it and was staggered at the selling price £35K!!!!!!
ive noticed cars with vinyl roofs being a thing again, seen a new mini with a vinyl roof, and a couple of those little fiat 500s.Ew cars with Vynil roofs
RS2000 or a Mexico will cost you that easily. There was one outside our flat a few weeks ago, on a round Scotland rally. Tangerine ! googled it and was staggered at the selling price £35K!!!!!!
Ah, maybe it was a 2000RS2000 or a Mexico will cost you that easily.
Dictionaries are so obselete that I didn't even know what one was. So I had to look up the meaning of the word in this old book I have that lists all words and their meanings. Having looked it up, I can confirm I agree that dictionaries are completely obsolete ;-)Dictionaries?
A mate of mines dad had one of the original MK 2 RS 1800 ... preserved in his garage... unfortunately he died young and it was sold ... oh to have it now!!RS2000 or a Mexico will cost you that easily.
They sell liquorice root in the herbal shop in Morecambe.. I bought some recently for old times sake but the memory was better than the reality.. Wound up just spitting out bits of woodGreen Shield Stamps

Ellis Tomlinson bought me a full set for my wedding but I had to give them away because they took up too much spaceEncyclopedias?

Got to be careful if buying as well, lots of ringed VIN plates in the old Ford market, lob it on a 1.1 shell, stick a nose cone on it and a knackered Pinto with some K Seal thrown in.A mate of mines dad had one of the original MK 2 RS 1800 ... preserved in his garage... unfortunately he died young and it was sold ... oh to have it now!!
Technically vinyl is awful if you compare the bandwidth to digital - even compressed.Nonsense..vinyl in great/new condition played through high end equipment is far superior to any compressed digital sound..
It’s all subjective but yes on the old 80s stack systems with a chisel for a needle, cd came along and seemed better, not everything newer is better, I’d say a cd sounds far better than a phone hooked up to your car stereo Bluetooth..
Plenty of those still around, just automated. Where we stayed earlier this year, we could see 4 at night.Lighthouses
You related to the great man?Ellis Tomlinson bought me a full set for my wedding but I had to give them away because they took up too much space
He was a great friend of my dad’s and used to come to most away matches with us for years and sat with us at Bloomfield Road. He called me his ‘honorary’ grand-daughter. He didn’t have children of his own..You related to the great man?
As a kid at school, getting a nod and a name check off the great man in the Scrattin Shed was great. I still remember so many of his little phrases, 50 years later. He was a great friend of my dad’s and used to come to most away matches with us for years and sat with us at Bloomfield Road. He called me his ‘honorary’ grand-daughter. He didn’t have children of his own..
