    Fishing Spots 🎣🎣

We normally fish Doughnut or The Canal. There are plenty of nice Carp around 6 to 9 lbs and other species. We fish with a Preston ICS Method Feeder, Banded Hair Rigs and a small pellet. It is a really simple set up that seems to work well. Traditional float fishing also works. I am certainly no...

    Fishing Spots 🎣🎣

I have started fishing again after a 45 year gap and I am totally loving it. I go to Whitmore most weeks and it is a great place to fish. It took me a while to get the right technique to catch the carp, but have it all sorted now. Some very friendly advice from fellow fishermen did the trick...

We all ready for the water restrictions

I drove down the M62 from Leeds to Manchester this morning. I cannot remember those reservoirs near the farm being so low in April in all my life. The water level is at least 20 feet down. That is some loss in capacity!

    Touring bands

I have seen so many amazing gigs at the Empress Ballroom. It was very popular in its day. Best one for me was The Reflektors (Arcade Fire) That was just epic! James, New Order, The Specials, Leftfield are some of my other favourites.

    Well done Rachel!

I am just enjoying a lovely real ale pint in Wembley for £1.99. I had exactly the same pint in The Elk on Friday for £2.87. Promo down here tonight🤣

    Well done Rachel!

The Metropolitan Bar Marylebone Street. It isn’t swanky, but pleasant enough. The location is right next to the tube station. It is a bit difficult to see from the front as it is not very prominent. I love Putney as you can sit outside overlooking the river and Putney Bridge. Easy to get to on...

    Well done Rachel!

I spend quite a lot of time in London. I always visit Wetherspoons and rarely pay over £3 for a pint. The pubs are in some great locations as well. Just next to Baker Street, on the bank of The Thames at Putney are 2 of my favourites. I had a pint of lovely real ale in Spoons at Wembley for...

Rachel Reeves - end of year appraisal

I agree with Tommy on this. £25 billion is being raised to fill the ‘black hole’ A £20 billion figure made without any evidence, as yet. I work in both wholesale and retail sectors and the business owners I deal with have all said they will be cutting wage overheads and increasing prices. That...

    Post Offices.

The Post Office made a loss of £76 million last year. It has liabilities of £800 million and is looking at a £1.15 billion payout for the Horizon scandal. Reform is desperately needed. Margins on most services offered in store range from 3% to16%. That is shite! The stores may look busy, but...

Mortimer & Whitehouse : Gone Fishing.

It is 30 minutes of tv paradise away from this screwed up world. You don’t have to be into fishing to enjoy this program. Two men who clearly love each other as friends reflecting on life in general in a very entertaining way and sharing a passion for angling. The photography of the beautiful...
