Best fish???

Tried a Scorpion fish on holiday in Menorca last year.
Tasted like ..... erm......chicken.
To be honest everything tasted like chicken in that hotels buffet....even the desserts.

Pollock, cod, mackerel. I don't eat fish any more. I just really like them.

Used to love a bit of sea fishing back in the day.

Dogfish are great, mini sharks. Conger eels, Basically fish in general.

Hake is very very good for a budget price far better than cod but we tend to avoid it in this country silly as you can buy a piece for a couple of quid.
Love Halibut myself but is expensive.

I'm not an experienced fish man but I'm partial to a whole sea bass, wrapped in foil with a bit of lemon and chilli, a few minutes in the oven

Fleetwood monkfish - fresh from Borough Market still in the keep net.

Luvverly jubberly.

Seniors used to sell John Dory as their signature dish. That stopped somewhat abruptly. Anyone know why? Is it too scarce, too dear? It's s lovely tasting fish, even when battered.

Tangerine Twindmil, not sure if that was meant for me but if it was, I'm going back to live in Portugal but in the North /Central region.

No Brazil my reply was for Realfish who is off to Funchal.
That’s a lovely area of Portugal.
Porto and Douro valley still on our to do list.
Enjoy 😊
Thanks TTW, I lived for 2 years in the Porto area 2015-2017. Glad to be going back now. Also I'll be closer to the UK and family on the Fylde and back for a few matches at BR when fans are allowed back in. The Douro Valley is lovely and I love Porto. If you go there, leave a message for me and maybe we can meet up.

Thanks Tt. we may well give that a try, we have two weeks this time so were looking to try somewhere new, and we know just where it is, being a regular visitor to Blandy's wine store on the corner.

All of this reminds me to add to the fish list; Espada! For the uninitiated, this 'scabbard' fish is a plug ugly, long flat critter, but the Madeirans cook fillets of it in a light batter and add a banana on top and a passion fruit sauce. It really is the DB's and if ever any of you are down that way, I thoroughly recommend it. Just ask for 'Espada com banana'.

We stay at the Cliff Bay, so, a little closer to town, where we usually find somewhere to eat. We walk down the hill to the centre or to the old town and taxi back up it (we used to walk up when we were younger)! Espada is usually our first night meal, but this time we will need to isolate in the hotel until the results of our Covid tests arrive from the airport immigration people.

[Edit: Back to the fish conversation, it's interesting that no one has mentioned salmon]
