Stewards and searching

First time I’ve been searched for years. 62 and still look like a hooligan. I was with my 14 year old nephew who looked shocked watching me being frisked.

Funny that when the young girl approached me after frisking the old men in the queue I just stood still and didn’t say a word, just kind of stared in astonishment at her.

She just stopped and said ok if you’ve nothing in your pockets just go in. Didn’t make any sense to me?

I was wondering if it was a reciprocal thing. She would frisk me a bit, I would frisk her a bit??

I declined a search today and was told I wouldn’t be allowed in the ground, just ignored him and walked in anyway. I’d object to a copper wanting to search me never mind an 18 year old youth from Preston’s finest security company, wasn’t having finding my bottle of water with its cap still intact on me ….😂😉

I get the check bags & rucksacks etc but the frisk the fans decision just serves to wind people up and serves no purpose or good …

I noticed they were very keen on Wednesday night, claiming its always policy to frisk everyone.

I've never been frisked at a home game, so absolute bollocks.

Going into the South today the only frisking at 13/14 was a woman frisking other women and girls. She didn't go near the blokes, rightly.

I also enter the ground at 13/14.
A young parent was with his son, the steward said he had to frisk everyone including him (he had no bags or bottles)
All a bit odd tbh

We were behind him but we weren't searched at all, so as @Wizaard says, that's bollocks

Jesus, frisked going into the west. Absolutely ridiculous and off putting to the casual supporter. The club needs to get into the twenty first century. The guy in front of me got frisked in front of his children; wrong and incomprehensible.

Funny how there are law for the police doing it, altbough that’s regularly ignored if you are black or young… but any old bod can suddenly start feeling your nether regions outside a turnstile? I’d love to know the perceived legal basis.

They were very- urm- thorough on Wednesday night, asking everyone to turn round and patting down their backs which was a new one. You get the standard pat downs at away grounds but there was a 1,000 people there for a silly midweek game, thought they were gonna ask me to remove my shoes next.

Suspect the answer may be to do with the FA case and they go to the FA and say well we put these measures in places to prevent missiles and check nobody had a bottle of babysham in their baseball cap

There has already been word of some unsettling and downright unacceptable instances in this strange recent regime of body searches. Please reply to the OP as asked, so this can be properly investigated with the club before anything else daft happens.

It's a condition of entry. Same with a night club or pub with door staff. Not saying they should or shouldn't be searching fans btw but that's the legal basis for it. The venue is under their control and a condition of entry is that you have to be searched. It's absolutely your right to deny the search but it'd also be their right to deny entry if you did.

It's also at their discretion who is and isn't searched.

It’s wrong on so many levels. And so is not allowing food & drinks inside. Most would still be prepared to buy stuff inside the stadium anyway. At least they would do if they could move the queues on quicker and not run out of stock. Family club, my arśe
We got a bottle of ‘ made at home ‘ diluted apple juice confiscated , as the seal on the bottle had been broken and they claimed it could contain alcohol. Yeah right, my boy is only 7 !

I’d happily buy drinks inside, but looking after two kids, carrying an armful of coats , scarves etc, whilst trying to take a photo of them with Bloomfield Bear and juggling refreshments with no lids on them is F£*KING IMPOSSIBLE.

I have an issue . It's because of stupid supporters taking in smoke bombs and flairs into the ground and I don't see a problem with a quick search . What my problem is ,is that the bloke that searched me hardly touched me and it was obvious he did not want to find anything . I don't see the point in it ,if not done to a decent standard.

Yeh I was searched but this isn't new is it? Been searched loads of times at home. Get searched at most away grounds and wembley when we were there too. Maybe I just look dodgy af.

This is strange.

Other parents with kids seem to buy refreshments up and down the country at cinemas, theme parks, soft-play areas etc. Odd that it's such a big deal for you.

I suppose they have to search people because of all the tits with flares and bits of stuff they keep throwing on the pitch.
Personally I don't object. It takes 20 seconds, if that and you're on your way.
If you've nothing to hide and it's stopping the club from getting fined, I would guess the club is still on a warning, then I honestly don't see a problem.
How does everyone feel when they're at the MEN arena or the airport ?

its not a big deal buying refreshments , the issue is taking the lids off the bottles upon purchase at the kiosk that’s the ball ache!

I’ve been check the last 3-4 matches.
As he started yesterday I said “this is all I come for each week” he just laughed said i but it is and told me to go in

🤣

Apart from Fleetwood I've been frisked every away game this season never have an issue with it.

Wednesday was the first time I've ever been searched at BR a bit weird for a crappy EFL game.

The bottle of water I take into every game the top is taken off put in my pocket then returned when I get in.

I had a backpack with my travel clothes in (non tangerine for Huddersfield and Bradford) and my coat had two poachers pockets with my wallet and phone in , I always open my bag for them to see in, and was given a quick frisk by an older bloke. I personally cannot see any problem. Nothing to hide, nothing to worry about.

They just don’t really have any common sense, fair enough search lads in the north who look 18-40 which btw im in that category, but do people in there 60s and 70s and parents with young children really need frisking ?

Where did you hide your chips?

Says more about you than anything else really

Because I heard you can't take food in I had a sandwich under my coat. Was frisked going into the south and he didn't even find it as he only frisked down my side , arms and legs so if I'd wanted I could easily have got a flare in so it all seems a waste of time. All to tick a few boxes for the FA. Crazy!!!

I think they have to search everyone equally, if they’re seen to target one group based on age, gender.. it opens them up to a bit of a minefield however based on fact it may be that lads in their twenties and thirties are more likely to have something on them than someone’s Grandad

Interesting thread really when you consider the amount of uproar it causes when someone throws a flare or, worse still, someone gets stabbed inside a ground.
Immediate response is “How the fcuk did they manage to get that in the ground” and I’m sure you anti searchers would have a totally different outlook if you or a member of your family suffered serious injury due to something “smuggled” into the ground.
If you have nothing to hide why on earth object to a 15 second fleece?

Anyone have any issues with stewarding and searching at the turnstiles today? If so, please DM me.

Thanks
I don't have a problem with being searched I do have a problem with queuing up to get to the front then being told that this is a woman only line and you have to go to the next turnstile and queue again .then when I finally get to the front of this line the steward waves his hands around me .we must be employing jedi warriors as they you the force!! What's the point....

Down to Natalie the fish head, what she does need to do is have a word with the steward in the north stand who nearly caused eruptions the way he treated that young lad, it’s the second time he’s caused issues, last time was about R bringing in a bag of chips, this time a vape, he’s a big lump but the bigger they are the harder they fall.
Sounds like you have a problem with women in positions of authority.

Unfortunately, it is a sign of the times, when some supporters have repeatedly thrown flares and other things on the pitch (usually from the North or away stands) and the club have been both warned and fined for this. I have been searched at every away game I have been to in the last few seasons., and I am a 64 year old, inoffensive looking, chap.
I personally have no problems with pat down searches, provided they are conducted professionally and politely.
When they iintroduced the searches earlier in the season, there was some indications that they may be profiling supporters and I think that is wrong.
