Marv

Seen so many people saying things like this? Why? It’s ridiculous and this isn’t FIFA or football manager. Why would we put the centre half who we all agree is no good with the ball at his feet into an attacking position? So we can lump it up to his head?
He's played up front previously, so its maybe not that ridiculous really.

When he just sticks to basics and defends and moves the ball to someone else he's very good. When he thinks he is Van Dyke and can actually play aswell he inevitably gives the ball away and has a mare.

The manager should play to players' strengths. Marvin is a top defender, very few are complete. Let him defend and we will be far better. Half of the balls from Husband are launched and no-one bat's an eye when he plays every game making numerous mistakes Marvin is made the scapegoat a d it's ridiculous.

Arsenal missed an opportunity with Tony Adams, they could have used Thierry Henry as an attacking full back crossing the ball to Tony Adams in a swashbuckling centre forward role!!!

Thought he had good game yesterday, as did hubby, Pennington had a decent game as well.
It was a bit last ditch and harem scarem in the first half as Peterborough cut through the midfield very easily.

Casey is a bit too slow to be a really good player and when he does make a mistake or gets outmuscled he cannot recover..neither of them can pass for shit but Marv is different gravy as a player..Casey is just about passable as back up but I prefer Pennington

Remember Cathcart was poor when he first played for us, but he had a long career at the top level

He's scored a couple of good goals for us.

He's regained his confidence and deserves our praise.
Without him, we look very vulnerable at the back.
I thought JG was an unsung hero yesterday. He really wants it - a grafter.

If Marv was a better ball player there isn’t a cat in hells chance he would be at Blackpool. Or even league 1 full stop.
He is our best defender by a long way and would be my first player on the team sheet.
And yes, if we needed a goal with 15 or so mins to play, I would have no hesitation in pushing him upfield to help the forwards out.

Centre halves who are no better on the ball than Marv are made to look like creative playmakers mainly because they are in teams with fast, mobile midfielders who make space for themselves so they can receive the ball easily. ie the players in front of you determine the type of pass you can make. Marv played in the Championship with Dougal/Wintle and didn't get caught out nearly as much. Maybe a Norburn/Byers midfield can provide a similar option for him👍

Right so he made one mistake at the top level.

I don’t think he was poor at all and Casey won’t ever be as good as he was in my opinion.
He was not Prem ready when we signed him at 21years old?
Luckily had Evatt alongside when thrown in at the deep end so yes he improved.
For balance enjoyed his goal against Man U at home

Marv should be a regular and don't know what happened at the start of the season where he made some (enforced) terrible gaffs but that kind of sealed his fate. He's also our top (own) goal scorer 🤪

Marv is by far our best defender when it comes to it. Not particularly great on the ball but he’s complimented in that aspect by Husband and Pennington/Casey either side of him. Husband especially is looking superb. Watching him on Saturday, for a central defender, he is so comfortable on the ball it’s crazy. Including the Peterborough players, he looked head and shoulders above anyone on the pitch with the ball at his feet. He’s been one of the few highlights we can take away from the season so far in my opinion.

As has been said he's our best defender, not great on the ball so struggles a bit being in the middle of a back 3

He's off at the end of the season as the club won't match his wage demands
