Can we assume they are both broken?

I don’t understand how we can have such a poor PA system which isn’t even used to announce the teams onto the pitch. IMO a great way to get the crowd going during the build up when used correctly. I struggle to hear it in the South, which is unlikely due to the atmosphere! 😄

The poor SW pigeon, how he survived the last 20 mins without further injury is a miracle. Did he make it out alive or was he subject to a post match mowing?

This has been pit to bed the other week, crystal clear even in the north when that kid had a go as part of a tangerine dream winner.

So are we saying, because it’s audible in the north, nothing else matters? 😂 That’s it then.
 
The pa ain't great, even the music sounds tinny and at its limit and that's just the bit I can hear which isn't much in the North west. It's an annoyance of mine that it's not used in the build up but nout we can do if it's not up to scratch at the moment.

The north is notoriously the worst to hear it and you rarely do, especially because of the noise as it's always full, but the kid was crystal clear...

Maybe we can get a sign language person facing each stand who can describe the words?

Sounds like it’s an easy problem to solve if we’ve had a young lad coming across crystal clear recently.
 
Got me curious about the pigeon now, certainly noticed it, half expected the linesman to do something about.
Gave up on.the PA system years ago, never really listen
 
I must admit to being concerned about the pigeon all through the game, and was hoping someone would rescue it at half time.

Any news? as it seem to vanish after full time, obviously very full of grass seed.

I can’t believe nobody just moved it off to the side, poor little bugger!

I was surprised nothing was done to remove it before it was squashed! I think Husband tried to move it to one side at some point but it ended straight back at the feet of Bolton player. 🤣

😁 Tony Parr, Ged Mills and the sycophant that asks Critch the post and pre-match questions must be the worst combination of presenters since Rod, Jane and Freddie (actually more Bungle, Zippy and George!).

A new PA would be very expensive. I guess it's therefore a case of prioritising what infrastructure gets investment first. Let's face it, the Oystons left the place nearly falling down, scummy cheapskates that they are.

Agreed. Most match day announcers have an uncanny ability to get a crowd going. Tony Parr is the polar opposite.
 
The fella who does the PA is absolutely shocking. Someone young and enthusiastic is what we need. I’m sure he couldn’t pronounce Didier Drogbas name correctly as well during the Prem Season.

Compared to the way other PA,s whip up the crowd ours is very vanilla I must say. I suppose we are lucky that our crowd(well the North!) don't need much whipping up.

Rod,Jane &Freddie are national treasures.
 
I wish they would leave the teams on the big screen rather than showing the score throughout the game.

Even the knuckle draggers from Horwich can count to 4.

I find it utterly cringing when the PA has to get the crowd going pre match.

Similarly when they're getting the crowd going after a goal. Best thing we ever did was stopping goal celebration tunes.

I'm really glad ours doesn't.

I have heard 3 other people do the PA - one week a guy from the old Rock FM did it, the bloke who is the Old Trafford PA man did it and the young lad and all were crystal clear. The problem is not the PA system!!
 
No sure what people are actually expecting from the PA. Read out a few birthdays, ticket/travel info etc...

Certainly don't want him/her to be trying to start any songs. As Wiz said we fortunately have the North to set the tempo.
 
I've noted, on here, my concerns about the inadequacy of the PA for some years now. I go back to 2012 when we were all bundled out of M Block - by Oyston increasing season ticket prices to over £900 - and had to take refuge in the East Stand. The PA messages were completely imperceptible. My concerns have never been about hearing the teams being read out or the winner of the MotM award. It is a serious matter if attendees cannot here important instructions concerning their safety.

That apart, what's this pigeon issue?

Maybe without the mic TP just speaks like a muffled speaker and even at times has feedback interference... 🤷
