Rusty Rhodes, Toothless Lavery, One Game Beesley or Anonymous Joseph

To me, it looked like Jordan was rusty and off the pace yesterday and that was understandable, I call Lavery toothless as didn't he lose one but also nothing went his way, the Bolton game was Bees at his best but I bet he only had 3/4 of those performances in him each season and I still don't get Joseph!
So if you're Critchley who do you play against Pompey!

Rhodes 'adds' more to the game than the other three but I think that also highlights why we have lost so many away games to shit teams - we lack that commanding presence up top.

There was one piece of skill from Rhodes when he controlled a long ball with a cushioned header and then volleyed the ball,
he was offside but he is the only forward from the four who has the skill to do that. So I would play Rhodes from the start and Beesley because of his goal-scoring record this season. Joseph has some good assists but unfortunately is not a goal scorer, his goalscoring record this season is terrible. As for Lavery he simply isn't quick enough( fitness) or big enough this season.

I really rate Joseph, he’s not been scoring (which yes, I do understand is his role). However, he brings players in the game, good technically, works his socks off.

He’s a bit like Jerry where he could have a poor game but still offer something with his sheer work rate - I think next year he’ll be one of the top strikers in the league!

Rhodes and Bees, did great against Wigan at home together and both make intelligent runs. Both also scored more goals

Beesley and Rhodes 26 goals between them

Beesley....at first I thought he was very poor.
I'm glad he's proven so many of us wrong.
He's pacey and must be awful to play against, same with Joseph.
Rhodes is just very clever. Plus he knows where the onion bag is which helps.
Lavery I honestly thought was going to be a great player but for whatever reason,. injury lack of form or whatever, for me it's just not happened for him.

Not been a huge Rhodes fan but yesterday I thought his introduction resulted in a stronger more threatening front line. His runs, movement and passing were all intelligent

and I still don't get Joseph!
I’ll try and help you.

He’s most effective left of a front 3, grafts his knackers off every game and possesses an excellent touch and ability to link play. He’ll excel with the ball to his feet or in the channel and although he’s only scored 2 goals he has created a number of chances and played key parts in goals, eg- Gabriel’s last Saturday.

He’s bang up for it and got some quality. Hope we can make the most of him as the season finishes as I think he’s got the attributes.

Pumping long diagonals and high balls up to him isn’t his game.

Rhodes isnt going to play a full 90mins just yet.
I rate Joseph but obviously he's not scoring goals so I'd start with Rhodes/Beesley with Joseph coming on on 60 mins.
Lavery just isn't cutting the mustard at the moment but he could play the last 10mins.

I agree with all of that. I like the measured aggression from him, doesn't take any bullying from defenders, strong and confident with the ball at his feet and has some craft about him. Goals will come.

Another vote for Rhodes and Beesley, the only two of the 4 (5 including Kouassi) to score regularly this season with Rhodes on 15 and bees on 11 in all comps. No brainer at all for me, lavs is great at times but has too many limitations, Joseph just isn’t scoring which is kind of a problem as a striker but as others have said a lot of his other aspects are great including work rate and technical ability so they’re both good options off the bench but Rhodes and bees to start all day long

Rhodes and Beesley by number of goals they've scored this season.
Lavery doesn't look fit and is very limited.
Joseph works hard but as a 1 in 5 or 6 games hasn't offered a goal threat.
Kouassi is very raw and struggling at the level.

Probably just kouasi on his own going off your assessment of the other strikers!!👍😃

I’m afraid Shane is simply too ineffective and I still think Joseph has no idea what the big thing at the end of the pitch with nets is.

Has to be Rhodes and Beesley I think with Joseph or Kouassi off the bench.

Just watched game back on ttv.
CJ was shocking. 68 mins on pitch.
He had ONE run forward beat his man then lost it.
Every touch he gave it away.
0 headers 0 tackles as per.
Gabriel did ten times more in 25 mins.
How does he ever start?
