Apter (yes yet again & again) 13/04(todays Goals.)

If we make the play offs will he be able to play for us? Tranmere are as mid table as mid table gets so probably won’t make the league two play offs.

My mind is working over time on that one.
I seem to think there's a precedent for that happening.
He is in our squad list as a registered u21 player but he is of course also on Tranmere's.

If I'm correct it will depend on when his loan actually ends. Sounds strange, but it may be a 4/5/6 month loan. If it's the latter then we'd have to recall him, which we can't obviously, so he's our player only when the loan finishes. TR may well have the loan to cover them getting in the p/o's.

I know I'm a bit of a nerd but I've looked at the EFL Handbook Regulation 56 1.4 (p325) and the way I read it the answer is a big fat NO he can't play for us but I still seem to recall that has happenned in the past.

If Rob Apter is the key to our promotion then we aren't getting promoted. Hopefully he'll be a wonderful player for us in the future; at the moment he's proving he's a good league 2 player.
When 😀 we make the play offs you never know what shape the squad will be in.

Which isn't hard in a crap Tranmere side who've been near the bottom half all season and now reached the dizzy heights of 16th!

Most of our first team squad would rip it up there.

Ah, but have you looked at Regulation 56 1.4 subsection 13n? In that they clearly state that the EFL don't undertake to profess to have any understanding of rules submitted and interpretation of said rules in full or part thereof.

The only thing I can think is that he isn't a named player, but I'm sure that doesn't apply in his case.

Logic says if his loan ends May 2nd or whenever around then , then he is a BFC player after and would be eligible for us. Anything else wouldn't be legal would it...restraint of trade?

A good question though. I'll dig my end......

From the EFL Regulations hand book.

55.8 A Player whose Standard Loan expires (or terminates) at the end of the Season of the Transferee Club but prior to the completion of the League Matches of his Transferor Club (where it is a Member Club) will not be eligible to play in any remaining League Matches for the Transferor Club in that Season;

Guidance
Examples where this may apply are (a) differential season ends for different divisions or (b) a player finishing a loan and his ‘parent club’ has qualified for the play-off competitions.

It's bollux isn't it.

I suppose we'd have to establish the exact meaning of standard.

Disagree. To stand out in a team that were in free fall and literally turn their season round at age 20/21 is a helluva season for anyone .
Scores goals and sets em up too

I think a few on here would be unbearable if he came on in a Play Off final and scored the winner ... I'd probably get his face tattooed on my bottom!

I went to watch him today and he played pretty well and was sponsor's mom. What was noticeable was how he hugged the right touchline and gave his defender a hard time. Also his use of the ball was sharp, quick and clever. In fact both sides moved the ball much more purposefully than we do. Watching a game I wasn't invested in made me realise even more just how ponderous our set up and style is.

Well at least we have CJ to look forward to 🤣🤛

It does doesn't it. I don't watch many games on telly but I watched Leeds Millwall. Leeds were everything we're not. Even when they went backwards it was obvious they were only doing so to reset the next attack. Unpredictable, inventive and energetic. Really enjoyed watching them.

I know we're not Leeds and they've got much stronger players but it was night and day as people say.

Just that td. Loads of misplaced passes today but always an intent to get moving as fast as possible. Good to watch.

I watched the game online. I agree pretty much with what you say. Looking at his FotMob stats his pass success rate was 85% 23/27 (surprise to me as well) but I think crosses are counted differently because that stat was 1/5.
He did create the most chances (3) including the goal assist.
His dribble success was 3/5.
Touches 50.
Personally I'd like to see him in the no.10 role and get him more involved in the game.

Atkins seems to set them up with two authentic wide men, which as you say may not be the best use of Apter's obvious ability. . They lost their way when he brought on the most right footed left wing replacement I've seen since .. hmm... several times this season!

Does anyone actually think we’d play him, it takes Critchley 7 months of season to work out who his best players are. And if by some miracle he did play him it be as keeper or centre back ..

I don’t get to watch as much football at higher levels than I used to, but when I see Prem or champions league highlights I think

‘Wow, this is fast’
‘There’s lots of shots on goal’
And
‘He only took one touch’.

Exactly. Every extra touch is another split second for a committed defender to catch you up. There is very little time in the modern game.

And he was given mom? I didn’t feel like he was given enough of the ball I would’ve liked to see him test their man down that side a bit more.Second half he did get down the line but his crosses into the box just let him down a bit.

Crawleys centre forward Orsi? Was a nuisance all game and should’ve had a few more. They played some good football for long periods today.

And when we go forward it's often as though we are preparing for the next passage of defending

Apter can score every game till the end of the season ,but it does not mean Critchley will play him , so it probably means nothing to the speculation on this post. I thought the goals he scored looked like goal keeping errors and does he work hard and come back and defend when needed. Bowler wooed the fans with his attacking flair , but was a little lazy when defending.

Rules have changed. Its a no. Back in the day you could get 30, 60 and 90 day loans. That's why Danny Shittu missed out on the playoff final but could play in the semis.

Possession with purpose. We lack the purpose bit.

Sorry but in football the commercials trump everything. Will Tranmere be prepared to pay a decent sum for his services. That is where our development squad is headed.

I think you'd have to define 'decent fee' given/against the money BFC have spent on his development.

Don't think there would be a massive profit in it.

Would Rob have benefitted staying with us in January (and of course benefited us in turn) or has this been the right move for him?
From what I saw he's enjoying his football and is well valued by the fans and his team mates. I think Insider is right, he would not have been given the same chances under Critchley.
