Karamoko Dembele is...

I can’t remember seeing a more technically gifted player in a Pool shirt. If the others in the team can create a bit of space for him to prevent opposition doubling up on him as Leyton Orient did then the next 10 (13 games hopefully) will be a joy to watch him play. When Rhodes came on at Shrewsbury his positional play pulled away defenders from him and gave him the space he needs.
I could name ten off the top of my head.

Tony Green by a country mile. Alan Ball was just before my time. Jimmy Armfield as a full-back and wing-back; Alan Suddick as a No. 10; Tommy Hutchison as a proper winger; Walsh & Hatton as a two man attack. Morty and Charney as one man strikers;

Caddy is doing well but he's a lot to live up to.

Nothing stupid about it. As said above he wasn’t even starting half the games earlier in the season.

He’s also too lightweight and easily gets shoved off the ball. Can’t argue about his skills though.
He wasn't starting because he hadn't been playing 90 mins or even 45 mins.

That is literally his job to show flashes of brilliance. That's how football works. Score goals and make assists. You aren't going to be in the game all the time.

But I can tell you now, he's had a far bigger impact on our team than any other player has this season bar Rhodes. And that should be cherished.
Yep, what is it 12 assists and 9 goals, more impact on the team than any other player. He more than pulls his weight defensively as well. Even when he has a slight off game he occupies defenders.

He wriggles his way past and sometimes seemingly through players. He’s the best since Wes imo and may soon be on a par with him. He’s improving with games and he’d be a Wow signing if SS would go the extra mile and Dembele wanted to stay here.
Nobody plays well all of the time but he’s the one player who can create a chance from nowhere and change a game.
But when he’s having a good game we do well as a team.
Maybe he will score tomorrow.
I’m excited for tomoz!

Hope he plays after coming off injured on Tuesday. He seemed to be walking ok when he went over to the fans at the end so 🤞

"He's also too lightweight and easily gets shoved off the ball."

FFS - get real! That 'earth-shattering' observation simply stems from the fact that, as a (very) young professional, he's still 'learning his trade', and is continuing to serve - for want of a better word - his apprenticeship. So, could SCT and Macseasider, before seeking to totally minimise whatever positive contributions he has made to team performances thus far, maybe cut the lad some slack?

Or (and let's be totally honest here), is it that he's made such a telling contribution - and in so many of the games in which he's featured, that his outstanding efforts don't somehow quite fit with your pre-set agenda(s)?

Just because he's made such an impression since arriving here, why is there this almost burning need amongst certain fans to compare Dembele with so many of the illustrious predecessors who came before him, and who graced the hallowed turf at Bloomfield Rd long before he was so much as a glint in his mother's eye. We are quite clearly witnessing the development of something rather special - but, as happens so often whenever a significant figure appears in our midst, we suddenly see fit to place them on a pedestal (of our making) and can't wait to knock them off it.

Dembele is someone just quietly going about his business, showing the occasional flash of brilliance and/or inspiration, and, just occasionally, drifting in and out of games, but also someone who always gives of his best out on the pitch, and who can change the direction of a game with an inspired passage of play which can leave fans speechless whilst also clamouring for more.

We should just enjoy Dembele for the short he will be with us, and treasure the memories he will leave for us in abundance when he does finally depart.

Some forget when comparing the young man, who I completely agree is the best we have at the present time, that this is division three in old terms. Some of the stars of the past mentioned in various posts practised their trade in the top division.

Just enjoy him whilst we have him.

Good point, well made.

Why did Celtic move him on ? Why did Brest rarely play him, and then send him out on loan?
The answer is two-fold ; he is of diminutive stature, and easy to knock off the ball, and he is inconsistent not only from game to game, but during games. Both Clubs gave up on him. They concluded that the odd magic moment or killer pass, was not worth the anonymity displayed in most of any game.

Rubbish. He was 19/20 years old at Brest and still featured in 16 French top flight games - and that’s a team who were 3rd not do long ago.

He’s clearly a bit lightweight for a cloggers league like the SPL but given half the SPL sign their better players from the English lower leagues it’s hardly surprising.

He’s still a kid and needs to develop. He was never going to develop in the SPL and Brest look to have got their plan spot on. They’re either going to sell him on for a very tidy profit this summer or he‘ll be pushing for a place in their starting XI.

There’s few, if any, players in League 1 or the lower half of the Championship who’d get into one of the French top flights better teams - certainly not young lads who’ve just turned 21 and even fewer who’ve been stunted by finding themselves playing in one of the least competitive leagues on earth

he's the kind of footballer who reminds me why i fell in love with this game in the first place. in that respect, the comparisons to TG and Wes are fair.

he is clever, brave, has magic balance and sweet feet. he changes games and wins matches. that'll do for me.

as curryman says, let's just enjoy him while we can.
