Brazil and Belgium

Friendlies they may be, but they will have been chosen to fully test the players. Both Brazil and Belgium are just behind England in the FIFA rankings so in theory should provide a similar test. Not sure which game Southgate will be "majoring" on? Normally two fixtures close together would be against a big team and a lesser one. Which game will his assumed 1st team play in? Brazil perhaps as they might be the more appealing fixture in view of their history?

Link to some opponents talking about Henderson. Sounds like the sort of guy you’d want alongside promising young players.

I’m not a massive fan of his but some of the criticism is a bit OTT.

Edit: Meant to post this on the England squad thread but Bendit has predictably mentioned Henderson so I guess it works here too.

We'll be fine, it's win or bust for Southgate this summer. With the likes of Kane, Saka, Foden, Bellingham and Rice, we have some of the most in form players in Europe. Ultimately we are 80 odd days away from a major tournament, it's time to get behind the manager and team, we can pick the bones out of it when we're out or have lifted the trophy. I'm relatively confident.

Yes I would think the Brazil game. Friendlies are important and picked accordingly but in a context of trying and finding things out and of course the experience of different opposition. They shouldn't be used as a stick to beat the manager with, we've already qualified and the tournament will be the test.

shown up - by this Brazil squad!!! I very much doubt it - have you seen this and the latest Brazilian teams - woeful!

I am sure the likes of Kane, Stones, Bellingham etc ... etc.. are quaking in their boots!

Goalkeepers: Bento (Athletico Paranaense), Rafael (São Paulo).

Defenders: Danilo (Juventus), Yan Couto (Girona), Ayrton Lucas (Flamengo), Wendell (Porto), Beraldo a, Murilo (Palmeiras).

Midfielders: André (Fluminense), Andreas Pereira (Fulham), Bruno Guimarães (Newcastle), Douglas Luiz (Aston Villa), João Gomes (Wolverhampton), Lucas Paquetá (West Ham), Pablo Maia (São Paulo).

Forwards: Endrick (Palmeiras), , Raphinha (Barcelona), Richarlison (Tottenham), Rodrygo (Real Madrid), Savinho (Girona) and Vinicius Jr. (Real Madrid).

Why organise two totally meaningless friendlies at this stage of the domestic season. Utter madness.
Because it’s a more or less global international break and therefore no games in many countries and in our case a chance for the manager to get players together.

Not bad forwards tbf. But you're right, not the strongest Brazilian squad ever.
