Sorry to spam the board with this but I was remembering to myself old away games that I'd been to and thought of this one. I know we lost 3-1and I can find the result online but not the goalscorers. Did Bob Hatton score against us that day or even a brace? More importantly did he really give it to us in the away end celebrating? I'm sure I remember he did and a pretty stressful walk back to the coaches afterwards. The home game in the March 82 was memorable for me as I got arrested on Lytham Rd in a mistaken identity and charged with breach of the peace. It made me that nervous of going to football I never went to another game for nearly two years.

It’s clear as daylight in my head!

We were drinking in a boozer on the edge of the centre of town by a roundabout. Cocky and indestructible. Full of our lot in the front bar with usual benny lads and no colours. As soon we left they piled out of the back bar armed to the hilt with pool balls and glasses. One of our car load caught a glass on the head and we all got ran all the way to the bloody ground. Picked him up after the match from the Infirmary. Happy days 😂

Yeah but that's not helping me with Bob Hatton is it ? 😏

I was at that game and genuinely can’t remember..did stan mcewan score for us..I know we stopped at brighouse on the way but it’s all a bit of a haze

Bob Hatton scored when we demolished them 5-1 in 1977. Walsh scored a hat trick.
It was a night match and I didn’t attend.
I was at the game in 1981 and it was McEwan that scored. Think it was a first half equaliser.
We lost 3-1 as mentioned.
We were high flying at the time however we went downhill to mid table.

McEwan had concussion when we won 5 1, and thought the game had finished 1 1.

I was at that game and, yes Bob Hatton scored twice. But to answer the o/p I can't remember seeing him giving it to the Pool fans, he just turned away and celebrated with their players. He'd already spent 2 years at Luton after leaving us when we went down in 78, so his time with us wasn't quite so recent at the time.

And yes there was a lot of trouble at that game. I went with a group of lads in a hire van, and it didn't help my group much that it said "Blackpool Van Hire" down its side.

I tried to introduce a friend to football in the 90's and took him to watch us at Tranmere away. He was arrested entering the ground and thrown in a police cell under the stand for the rest of the game simply for taking a can of coke into the ground.

As a non-football fan new to the game, he had no idea such a simple thing was an offence. Needless to say, he never went to another game again after that.

We were 4-0 after 20 mins. Edwards, I think, was on a run and scored for the 18th game in a row. The prospect of the milestone meant a swollen attendance such that they let home fans in the away end meaning goal 3 was met with a clap, goal 4 with a shake of the head.

I was at the 1-5 game in 77 as a 15yr old with a schoolmate. We were in a stand & on celebrating yet another goal received "Hey yoooo, sit thee down before thee die" in a broad south yorks accent. Surreal game & result. Don't remember an away end?

You wouldn't notice it. Only 5 in it, until they let them in then it was rammed.

The game at home was no picnic either. A group of theirs were on the South paddock, as you look at it from the Kop to the left of the lefthand wall.

I remember a really old bloke and his wife got caught behind it. He was fighting anything in reach to get a path out for them.

The blades were a big club for the division at that time and had some real quality players..Alex sabella Bob Hatton John mcphail Stewart Houston Keith Edwards and they absolutely stole Colin morris off us (remember arriving at Crewe away on a Friday night and morris had just left us ..everyone was gutted)
