Are veteran/experienced players getting younger?

Was just reading the Doncaster website with the headline "At just 27, Reece James is a veteran in the Dancaster changing room ..." - even when you think about our squad Madine and Maxwell are the oldest at 30 and then it's Turton, Dougall and Garbutt at 27. So is 27+ now considered too old for a player? Is it managers are looking for younger players or do footballers just give up a lot earlier than they did. Makes you realise what an utter star Kevin Phillips was.

If a player broke in to the first team at 18, by the time he was 27, with potentially over 400 games under his belt, he'd be classed as a veteran.

Most players don't hit their peak until they're 27.

Kevin Ellison is the exception that proves the rule. I think he's 41 and got a contract at Newport County this summer irc.
