Doncaster Rovers v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 24.11.20

The last 5 games we have only played one decent team. What works against non league and under 12s won’t work against more astute teams and managers.

You can only beat what's in front of you. He's had a plan and we've done well in those games. You only have to look at Charlton losing to Burton tonight, a team we beat, to understand that there are no truly bad sides in this league, just a lot of very inconsistent ones.

Plus Peterborough are no mugs either

Here we go 1 decent team played in the last 5 games.
Have you seen the results tonight Gfg?
Burton FOUR Charlton two

Still Burton must have been shit when we played them🤣🤣🤣

We've had a bad 45 minutes compounded with some questionable refereeing decisions and they all start crawling out from under their rocks.

Why don't you go and support Fleetwood they're doing ok this season✌
(That emoji should be the other way round)

I've commented on every game win, draw or lose. You must have your tangerine specs on befuddling your mind and vision. Critchley and this bunch will finish below half-way.
On Saturday you said automatic wasn't out of the equation but you were leaving it until January. Search facility makes it easy for us to check 😉

Totally agree he is a shit keeper and no way should he be skipper. Give it Dougall. Team needed a steady hand 2nd half and a calming influence. Needed to get the ball and keep it. Gutted we just don't learn
Time to give Sims a shot in goal I think, and you may be right in giving Dougal Captaincy.

To add some perspective there were 3 penalty decisions and on 1 day none may have been given and another day all 3 may have been given. Our first goal came from a dubious penalty and if the ref had seen Madine throwing himself around all game he may not have given it. Their penalty was also dubious and to me the most blatant one was the handball not given.

The substitutions were again too late and a little baffling. I still believe we havent identified our best starting 11 or formation. This was a game where we needed game management similar to how Ipswich saw us off. This was the time to go back to possession based football passing sideways and backwards and letting Donny have possession in non danger areas.

Still a lot to like about the first half and lessons to be learned from the second half.

Anyway, back on planet Earth, I thought we played well for 35 minutes then let Doncaster back into it. At half time I would have been stressing the need to re-establish the high press that kept them on the back foot for so long. That doesn't look to have been discussed.
It is obvious from that second half that we need the captain to be in midfield. Someone who has the management team's authority to do the shouting, encouraging and cajoling needed across the whole pitch.
Looking back at the whole performance I think Robson looked largely anonymous, Dougall was trying to cover too much ground, Ekpiteta looked nervous and indecisive and Kaikai's set pieces were atrocious.
The longer the second half went on the more apparent it became that Hamilton needed feeding if our attacks were to have any effect.
And I agree with others that the changes came too late. Madine's day was done after 55 minutes. Husband's after their second goal and Kaikai should have been replaced by Woodburn much earlier.

Definitely need an outfield player with some authority and gumption captaining.
The guys are left flailing when behind and heads go down. We need a a strong presence midfield managing the fall out.

I get what you’re saying, Karen, but you don’t need an arm band to be a leader.

The table doesn't lie. We've beaten only one team of note, Pboro. Clearly, we're not good enough.
We are improving, winning more than losing, won away to the top team a few days ago. Clearly you are stuck in a rut deeper than the Marianas trench. Lighten up maybe? Try to be slightly objective?

Some people don't like facts...look at the league table, it doesn't lie.
In many ways the form table over the last 6 games is a better indicator of the current state of the team, I'm not worried or panicking about 1 result.
I do think managers are still learning how to deal with the 5 subs, I think it allows a manager to make a couple of tactical changes at half time, especially when we are 2 0 up.

Why not take off kaikai and Hamilton, bring on Ballard and Ward go 5 3 2.

Weather the obvious reaction from Doncaster knowing that you still have 3 subs left.

Most managers are very predictable, the 5 sub rule can help you to be less obvious.

62 years, I'll type this very s l o w l y because I know you cant read very fast.

Just a few results for to to peruse
Blackpool 0 Charlton 1
Burton 1 Blackpool 2
Burton 4 Charlton 2

So on your reckoning Charlton aren't good enough either as they cant beat a team that Blackpool did, oh but Charlton beat Blackpool!!
But Blackpool aren't good enough anyway so should have done. Are burton good enough?
Its mind blowing 62 years, you see any team can beat another in this division on their day, its called football.
Blackpool will get in the top 6, bookmark that 62 so when they eventually do you can cry in your beer whilst reading this🤣

Dream on, let me know when your medication has kicked in. 3 points off relegation lol.

Only since 1957. I'll forgive you because you rarely get anything right lol.
Like fuck are you a Seasider. Laughing at a defeat? You only post more than once when we’ve been defeated, and half of them are to gloat.
Good trolling though, cos you get us all biting, but if you’re not a Nobber then I pity your sadness.

Look at the league table and the reality of our situation might kick in.

Yep, I get you. Maybe some need the acknowledgement of being a leader to bring about the confidence and authority to be one 🤔
I don’t know, but someone on the pitch needs to take control in situations like we had in the second half tonight.

Can’t argue with that.
👍
